  1. Oh, if your parking brake works okay, then on your first brake application of the morning, once you leave your driveway, get about 15mph or so, let off the throttle, and slowly apply the parking brake ONLY.. see if it still grabs. If it does still grab, then it's DEFINITELY not a proportioning valve or ABS control issue ( or anything hydraulic-related, for that matter.)
  2. yeah, pop that pass. side drum off and have a looksee your first opportunity. TAKE PICTURES if you need help! That's what we're here for, buddy.
  3. that's the same one that was the culprit on my '96. just make sure you use brake-clean on the new drum to get all of that crap off of it they use to keep it from rusting..Do you notice it being really touchy the first couple of brake applications then taper off? or does it do it all the time, every time?
  4. $50-70, depending which brand you get. They aren't hateful. Do both lock, or just one?
  5. Ok, makes much more sense now :)Do you see any outgoing traffic in your 'sent' folder? could be email address was "picked up" elsewhere, rather than from your actual yahoo account. However, I have several friends with Yahoo! accounts and I do occasionally get spam from them. That's why I don't use Yahoo! Mail anymore.
  6. I went through this with my '96. (mostly when rain or air was damp). It was a couple of issues, combined.. riding the brakes for the first 5-600ft or so, of initial movement, would usually help dramatically.#1 - Rear seals were leaking a little, and putting grease on the pads. I replaced the seals and pads - Problem got a lot better, but still did it. Usually it was the first brake application of the drive, that was the worst one.#2 - replaced drums - problem went away completely. There was grease imbedded in the pores of the steel drum that I could never seem to get out, even after a severe cleaning of the old drums. They were also slightly out of round.
  7. Not really sure what you're saying..?
  8. You'll find lots of great info here, as well as great folks!
  9. I think this is a way to get a good idea of combined MPG. This is obviously open to many variables, but the end result is pretty surprising.. Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel http://www.fuelly.com/car/dodge/ram%202500/diesel%20l6/truck Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel http://www.fuelly.com/car/dodge/ram%203500/diesel%20l6/truck Across the board, they're fairly close.
  10. what would that type of trip normally yield, MPG-wise?
  11. Thanks guys. ambient temp was 32*F this morning, and my Edge showed 112*F coolant temp..
  12. Those with block heaters, and use them, I have a question..How "hot" does your coolant get when plugged in overnight? I realize this could be dependent on ambient temps, possibly, but I'm curious. As an example, my block heater heats the coolant to ~100*F when plugged in overnight. Is this a normal temp for these things? Seems my '96 got hotter than that, but not 100% positive.
  13. It's a 4.1% variance. 60mph speedo = 62.5mph actual.your 1.04 factor is correct.60 * 1.04 = 62.4 (very close to actual)300 measured is actually 312ish
  14. Hi, and welcome to the site. I (unfortunately) know nothing of the CP3, but I did want to ensure you that your questions arent going unheard. I know some on the p7100 and VP44, but I'm brain-dead on the CP3 :whistle:Someone will answer soon
  15. cool deal! glad it's fixed
  16. i took pics of the brake spring layout, etc., with my phone before I started
  17. Chatroom open now (thursday, 9pm ET..)
  18. sweet, thanks.NP on the Linux. Ubuntu is pretty good. I work with Linux daily (I'm a SysAdmin on a bunch of Linux servers) but I rarely use the GUI; I'm 90% command line usage. That's when it gets fun
  19. sounds like a tire issue, to be honest..
  20. rear axle seals are easy.. however, the brake shoe assembly will need removed to replace the seal. with hand tools, I've replaced the seals on both sides in under 2 hrs. Most of that was putting the springs back on the brakes, and tapping the nut off the retainer..
  21. yeah, I surprise even myself, sometimes ;)
