  1. The key trick only reads one computer in some years. The 1693 is telling there is another code in the other computer. Hook your code reader up and see what it says.
  2. A solid tow rig does not have to be a HP monster. Mine tows a 15k 5th wheel fine in level 2X3. Will it climb a 5% grade 65 mph in 6th gear? No, but it does not need to. 50 mph in 5th is just fine. It also very reliable.
  3. The coupler for the blend door and motor could be broken or cracked. It can be accessed from under the dash. It is a bit of pain but you dont have to pull the box again. Check this out. http://www.heatertreater.net/ This explains it better than me.
  4. I take it the bees were not following them.
  5. Rv 275's are injectors that are for an RV with 275 hp Cummins engine. So a 30 to 40 hp gain over stock depending ho or so engine. I run the rv's with an HX35 turbo and a Comp. I tow 15k on level 2X3 and the egt's stayed in check. Have not tried it in the mountains yet but it was all hill country with no really long steep grades. That is really all the experience I have with that set up. It is the only one I have had other than stock and a smaller Banks tuner.
  6. I remember reading the post but have seen nothing about it since.
  7. My first lift pump failure and the truck died and would not start. My second lift pump failure and the truck kept running. I have read where a lift pump failure can take the VP with it. Many combos of what can happen. With 2 lift pump failures on one VP might be pushing it. I would expect to see a DTC set if it was the pump. How are you checking for codes? Still could be air in the system or fuel starvation. Does sound like it.
  8. i would say you got victimized by some dumb s**ts or else it would not be in your dads building. As far as looks, you got some stuff thats not my cup tea but it still looks good. Love the color. Mines blue over silver. The only thing I cant forgive, unless you forgot to mention, is that 2' of bed you are missing.
  9. Thats one of those fell things also. Push it and close the door and if nothing changes do it again a little harder and repeat until you are satisfied. I have not done mine yet. I worry about going to far.
  10. My door is in similar shape as yours is at the top. I locked my keys in the truck on 2 different occasions. The locksmith used a small inflatable pillow to move the upper corner away from the opening to gain access into the cab. The second time I did it myself but did not have the pillow. My way was a little more savage than his. There is a good chance this has happened to your door. What Hag is talking about is block the door before it is closed and then pushing on the upper part to bend it ever so slightly inward. You have to stop the door before it hits the body to do this. One day I am going to do this to mine.
  11. I figured it might have 4 tons of boat anchor chain wrap around it welded to giant hooks in the ground. It does look good sitting there though.
  12. My 5600 will shift that quickly and did until I shortened to slave rod. Got to put a new on to alleviate the problem.
  13. It would appear the ISO 5011 is a test standard that can be applied to any filter. I googled it and came with a lot of hits on this. Here is just one of them. http://www.thedieselpageforums.com/tdpforum/showthread.php?t=11674 That is how they came up with the flow and restriction listed. Seems to not have the info on what and how much will pas thru it.
  14. Cant say much on it either way. When mine went it happened on Sunday and I had to take the one I found. Did not have much choice. I have about 135k on it now and still no issues. I have no idea what brand it is.
  15. When scrapping the always cut the insulation off. They dont want to skin them and will give you much less with the insulation on. Dont burn it off either. i would probably keep some of it just in case of emergency maybe.
  16. definitely drooping a little, but I have no experience aligning any of that stuff.
  17. For me it is more just a feel for the rpm. The shift is just one fluid motion to the next gear. When I feel it is not fluid I blip the throttle. I am never looking at the tach to do this. You get very used to it driving a no syncroed tranny. Try this one day for a down shift. On level ground holding a constant speed just push the clutch DO NOT lift from the throttle. The engine rpm will go up exactly where you need it. It only works while you are maintaining your speed. Wont work if you are under heavy throttle like pulling a hill or such. Might have to look into what @KATOOM is talking about. I never heard of synchro lock out before.
  18. When I up shift I depress the clutch and let off the throttle completely. I do shift quicker than you, meaning i dont pause in neutral. Sometimes the tranny does not cooperate and it pauses in neutral, usually when my clutch foot is lazy and I dont depress it to the floor. When that happens just a little blip on the the throttle will keep the rpm enough to closely match. Like @Haggar I too sometimes have to do twice.
  19. As said when up shifting Dont let the rpm fall of to much. I try and get to the next gear at the same time the rpm drops to match it. My tranny shifts a little slower sometimes with the SB clutch so when that happens I just bump the throttle slightly and slip in gear. When down shifting I bump the throttle a little harder to get the rpm up to match the lower gear. It is more of a feel than actually looking at the tach and going for a specific rpm. That just comes from driving a stick most of my life.
  20. I used this for the most doing the same job you are about to tackle. While it can be a bit of pain it is not that difficult just time consuming. It will help to have an extra pair of hands to get the screws in the dash on the driver side. The HVAC box has mounting screws that run vertical and horizontal so be careful pulling it out. I ended up breaking a couple of them. I posted up my experience with it several years ago with pictures but do not know how to find it anymore. I think i spent 2 and half days doing it all but definitely took my time. This included one trip to the parts house and 3 to the beer store.
  21. Do the two doors, front and rear, line up with each other?
  22. I am working off the android system my self so that would concern me. Except that I would expect that to be worked out by the time I would drop the cash on a Quad. I just got the Comp a year ago,
  23. Speaking for Mr. Simplistic here. i have 2 driving styles, one unloaded driving mostly the interstates around 75 mph. Two towing at about 23k outbound to another job. Is the Quad capable of 2 good tunes with an easy switch swapped between my 2 situations without having to program thru a tablet, computer or other device? The comp is just a few button pushes and I can swap. Is that possible with the Quad? Simple question.
  24. This sure had more potential on the bad side than you are seeing. For now anyway. It does not sound like the thieves were as smart as we thought. Hope the rest of the examination goes well.
  25. almost unbelievable. I am happy for you. Look forward to the rest of the story.
