  1. The way I saw when I had the leaky tee and fitting was like this. After engine shutdown the leaky parts were allowing air into the return lines and letting the fuel drain back into the tank thru the return line. When the return line emptied it was allowing fuel from the high pressure side of the VP to leak back thru the return by gravity. It would not make any difference with the supply being submerged or not. All the air coming in and fuel draining back was coming from the return.
  2. I finally made my trip with the RV in tow. Only problem was when I stopped in GA to fill up they had straight #2. It appears Loves does not use the bio blend in GA. Anyway I made the trip differently than I normally would. I drove 65 all the way in 5th instead of using OD. My mileage worked out to 10.15 mpg, about the same as I would have seen using OD. The biggest difference I experienced was a drop in trans temp from 215* in OD versus 195* in 5th. It also took near 100 miles for it to creep up to that temp and level off. Maybe next time I will get to used bio to see if there is any difference. I did use 2 stroke in the tank, about 33 oz's. The weird thing happened on the way to AL from home empty. I stopped in Charleston TN at a Loves and this one had BIO BLEND and not BIO MASS. I have read enough to know there is a difference, but little enough to quite understand it. They seem to over lap somewhat, but are definitely labeled differently. I drove from Charleston TN to Muscle Shoals AL and then from Muscle shoals to Thomson GA for a total 660 miles. I drove 5% city, 35% at 65 to 70 mph, and 60% at 75 to 80 mph. This is pretty normal driving for me. I put in 33.5 gallons and at 660 miles the mileage came up to 19.7 mpg. I have never seen that kind of mileage without driving 65 or less which is very abnormal for me. This was weird and had I not been there myself I would call BS on myself. I am going to try a duplicate the trip soon and check my odo to the mile markers and see how closely they match. I check it in 50 or 100 mile increments. The last time I checked, a few years ago, it was off by 1/2 of 1%, .005%. Nothing else is different on the truck other than the fuel. May be a fluke I don't know. The truck does run quieter.
  3. My return tee o rings and the sealing washer on the back of the head were all leaking and it did cause hard starts for me. Not to the degree Hex is seeing however. Sometimes it would only take one cycle with the lift pump and sometimes more, just depended on how long it sat. I never had to open the injectors to get it started. All I could figure is that air got in and let the fuel back to the tank and took some of the fuel out of the high pressure lines. I do know when I replaced the leaky parts the problem went away.
  4. you would be correct. I might have phrased that badly. Our grandchildren are the MIL's great grandchildren. The oldest granddaughter, not there at the time, is 24. So you never know. The best part of this was that I went home expecting to see 3 of them and inside of 30 minutes of being home they were all in my living room. It was one of the best trips home I have had.

  9. I use me e brake all the time and it does help with initial warm up. It cuts off at 118* and if I am staying a short distance from the job it still never gets to full temp. The e brake only works at idle and I usually idle out of the rv park to get some heat in it before hitting the highway. I dont see the low temps a lot of the members here see. High teens and low 20's are about as low as I would see in the areas that I work. I have seen 0* and a little below but is pretty rare for me to see it that cold.
  10. With the nature of my work I sometimes have to make a lot of short trips, summer or winter. Combined with the 5th wheel parked close to the job sometimes, I never really have time to get to operating temp. I have driven the truck for 13.5 years and 345k miles and she still humming along nicely. I am not trying to disagree with anyone on the benefits of getting up to temp, just sharing my experience with my truck.
  11. I have not noticed a difference as of yet, but have not towed using bio that i remember. I have to tow from Augusta Ga to Muscle Shoals Al in a week or two and we shall see.
  12. It might. Most any of the chips I have seen advertise that "might " see a mileage increase in the neighborhood of 5%. My Banks system did not increase mine at all. The only 2 things that have helped mine was the RV 275 injectors and possibly the comp. I picked up a small increase with both, about 1.5 per gallon. Are you still running the OE injectors?

  14. I never used any additive until finding this site and started running 2 stroke after talking with the members here. Changed my stock injectors out after about 240K and found very little carbon on them. From what I have learned here the best way to get rid of carbon is to strap on a load and climb some hills. Get that egt up over 1000* and let her eat.
  15. I have been running 2 stroke(TCW3) for about 4 years. When i first started i could hear the difference right away. Matter of fact my son and brother were both there and thought I was out of my mind. But it was very obvious to me. Since my clutch will not handle any of the power the comp gives, it stays off 85% of the time. It still does boost fooling while turned off and with the remnants of the Banks system i installed years ago it has been a help with passing and such. We will see what happens after the new clutch and I can leave it on all the time.

  17. I dont know how much of it is the biodiesel or maybe the comp. I started using both about the same time. Same driving habits. I am a little surprised myself.
  18. I have made a couple long runs a year or so ago around 65 mph and got 20 mpg. i would like to make a run like that again when it presents itself. Who knows maybe I could see 21+. I know it is a poor excuse but when making a weekend trip home on Friday with 500 or more miles to drive 65 just does not cut it. I like making good time, just dont want to be the fastest man on the interstate. All the stickers I see B-5, 15 and 20 say that they may contain up to 5 or 15 or 20%. That does leave you guessing some what. I was putting 16 oz's in with it until one day I did not have any on the truck and tried it without it. That led to 4 more tanks without and it seems fine. I need to get some because it does feel better pouring in the tank. Oh and DW, it's nice to see you still have not been able to flush that log. always liked that avatar.
  19. my scan gauge II only has the map and reads the crazy numbers like Mike's, around 28 at idle and about 38 for a max. Can't find a boost setting on mine.
  20. While working in Augusta Ga I started stopping at a Love's travel center. I noticed the they have a B-20 sticker on their pumps. I have been running it now for about 2 months without 2 stroke and the truck idles noticeably quieter. A typical tank of fuel that was using making the run home and driving at work consisted of 150 miles around town and 450 miles on the interstate running mostly 75 to 80 mph. I was getting about 17.5 mpg consistently on these runs. The last couple of tanks on pure interstate runs have averaged near 18.5 and 18.8 mpg. Now I don't use the same pump, same direction, and i do top mine up to the next even dollar on the pump so this is not exact but repetitive with 2 or 3 tenths of a mile. This is 1 mile per gallon more than I was getting on straight #2. I did install a comp about the same time so I don't know if that is making a difference or not. I mostly running with it off for now until I replace the clutch. Sometimes I turn it on 1X1 but even that low it will slip the clutch when the turbo spools and the foot is to the floor. All that is another story but It is another variable.
  21. Mike, as much as I would love to see 1 million on the odo, I have a better idea. When I get back from the moon I'll find the bar and save you a seat and just wait till you get there. Gotta be a nice potato bar in Idaho some where.

  24. I am running an AD II 165 in mine. Put it in about 5 years ago. The pump crapped out about 6 months ago. AD sent me a new no questions asked and it is still working fine. I be hard pressed to gamble on a new on. However if this pump holds up maybe they have gotten thru there bad time, but that still makes it a gamble on AD.
  25. Like ME says you need to stop at an advance or autozone or such and have them check for codes. That will get you pointed in the right direction. Kind of a guessing game without them. It can be guessing game with them sometimes, but they help.
