  1. I take the 12v tappet cover works just as good for venting without the oily mess of the puke bottle?
  2. I used the alt for a power source, but it still goes thru a relay triggered by the wiring harness for the oe lift pump.
  3. Same here. 47 bucks is pretty cheap. Mine was undrivable and I did not want to pay a wrecker to drive my rig around.
  4. I might have placed mine further back except I kept the old fuel canister in the fuel system.
  5. I would go with the Bosch. I bought mine from DAP. I dot remember 2 choices though. The crossover orings are a seperate item, but are not expensive. DAP should be able to help you with that also.
  6. Mine is reading pressure from the lift pump. The VP will send pulses back into the fuel line and beat the sender or the gauge to death. Mine is set up like this. I installed it in the fuel line between the fuel canister and the vp. The needle valve is barely open, just enough to get a pressure reading and restrict the pulses. You can do this with a mechanical gauge or thru a sender to an elctronic gauge. I personally like the mechanical gauge better.
  7. I had a glow shift fuel pressure gauge. It did not last long due to the fact I installed it without any isolation for the sender. The pulses from the VP will destroy the sender or the gauge(if mechanical) in short order without isolation. I currently use an Isspro mechanical with a needle valve in line for issolation. I believe the GS would have held up better had I done this originally. The 3 gauge pod is as cheap as you will find anywhere and looks as good as the Banks 2 gauge pod I bought many years ago. I have to agree with Mike on installation being the biggest problem. Even expensive gauges wont last if installed badly.
  8. welcome to the farm.
  9. That is a rather large list. Get the gauges first. You wont be sorry. Welcome to the family.
  10. Mine is a 36' fith wheel. It stands 12' 8" high and weighs 15k loaded. My last trip I got 11.3 mpg at 65mph and less. That was from columbia tenn to Des Moines Ia. Mostly rolling hills. I used to run the same RV at 70 to 75 mph and only got abotu 9.8. I have to agree on the wind drag.
  11. Are you still running the stock lift pump? do you know what your fuel pressures are, idle and wide open throttle(WOT)? The 216 code is not a good sign for the vp, but not necessarily the death of it. Low fuel pressure will eventually kill it, but there may still be some life in it, mechanidally anyway. Electronically maybe not so lucky, low fuel pressure will take the elctronics also. It would also help if you go to the user cp and fill out your signature with details of your truck.
  12. I replaced my ECT sensor since it was the one going the craziest. I would start the engine and let it warm up. I monitored the sensor while the engine was warming and watched it perform properly, but the gauge would peg out inside of 30 seconds. I was also seeing good voltage at the other sensors, but the truck was still not dravable and the codes kept telling me the voltages were too high and too low. It might be time for a trip to the dealer and have them check it. Mine was so screwed I felt it could not be anything else but the ECM.
  13. The bad thing about a bad ECM is, no matter what you fix the ECM cant see it and still thinks everything is bad. At least that was my experience. IIRC Cajflynn has had some good luck with a rebuilder of ECM's. He would have to tell you who. PM him and see what he has to say.
  14. A 37% increase? I need some of that magic.
  15. When I installed mine i had to help them in. I had a piece of copper pipe and I pried them in off of what ever I could catch it on. I put a rubber handled screw driver on the top of the injector and they popped in. I am not a mechanical genious either, but it was how I installed mine. So I beleive some persuasion is ok. As long as you just dont take a hammer and smack them you should be alright. I am sure if I am wrong someone will come along and say"WTF".As far as the connector tube orings, replace them all. They are too cheap to even think about not using new ones.
  16. I am going to reseal mine when i replace the tappet cover gasket. I will have that whole side of the engine darn near stripped any way. It never hurts to combine tasks.
  17. The ecm needs to be programmed for the larger tires to be accuarate. If it came stock with 245's or even 265's those 35's will show less milage than you are actually going. I am sure someone here can give a precise number that the odo would be off. you are going further every revolution on the 35's vs stock since the diameter is greater. i am not sure how much differance but ther will be some.
  18. i understand the frustrattion. I have many knots on my noggin from:banghead::banghead::banghead: and more than a few from:doh:.
  19. Have you cracked one of your injectors open just see if any fuel is getting to the engine? Possible you popped the fuel system relay? If you are getting no fuel swap the relay with the another relay in the pdc and see what happens.
  20. i dont have the answer, but if the cruise is working fine it would point me toward the apps since the cruise takes the apps out of the equation.
  21. Are you using the GPS for miles driven or the odometer? Any time you go bigger on the tires its going to throw the odometer off.
  22. As one who will be doing this soon, I cant help. But from your descriotion of what you disconnected I would almost have to believe it is in one of the harnesses you disconnected from the steering column. I sure someone with more knowledge of this will be along shortly. I will be watching this thread a learning with you.
  23. I can identfy with what you are going thru. I am not sick of being the chikeman yet but i am growing very tired of the BS i have to put up with these days just to build a building. The economy has really changed the caliber of people i have to deal with every day. But the money and benefits are pretty good for now and it would be hard to drop out.
  24. How are you checking for codes? Your 98 will need an obdII scanner to check them. The IP can go with out codes on occasions. I would think you would have a code for a bad sensor.
