  1. This sounds typical of low compression. The cam reduces dynamic compression and the thicker head gasket will reduce both. Just my .02
  2. I have NEVER seen a head as long as these come off and be perfectly straight. just sayin Fwiw my local machine shop charges 80 bucks to surface the head.
  3. Short version of what you replaced already?
  4. I much prefer the 5" to 4" exhaust. I ran no muffler with my 5" and it did not seem overly loud. Tho I was coming from stacks at cab level.
  5. White smoke can be a few different things but does it ever clear up? That cam is not in your best interest for the setup you have listed. Especially with the small compounds. When did the white smoke show up?
  6. The head at a minimum will need to be surfaced. The block needs to be checked for flatness with a machinist straight edge and feeler gauges.
  7. How are you monitoring boost? Mods on/in truck?
  8. Apparently I did not make it clear enough what my issue was. Your truck is stock on fueling other than the smarty. The lack of any bigger injector is a large factor in how that "tuning" behaves. I ran a smarty with a larger set of injectors (7x.010s) and a fairly quick spooling turbo (he351cw)......it smoked like a train. I have no problems with anyone sharing their experiences.....but lets include all the necessary details with the post.
  9. This is a half truth. You have a nearly stock truck with stock injectors. Until you add a set please stop pushing this or add in the necessary details so people can make an educated decision on that product.
  10. Just when they triggered the dyno. I wish we could have gotten the tach pickup to work correctly on the ppump runs so we did not have to the do the rpm calculations and for a better visual. Timing was at 28*. Turbo charger for both and pump tuning (or lack of) with the ppump. The new 215 pump being benched is light years ahead of the old 180hp I had. I wish it was safe to take an acceleration video by myself holding a phone. It is violent to say the least.
  11. Someone local had the complete bumper and brackets. I ordered the grill off of ebay. I had a sport grill frame laying around. I'll be on the hunt for them both again for my 12v. Cannot stand the chrome grills and bumper.
  12. There are no dot hids kits I am aware of for these as well. Nick would be the one to answer that for sure. DAP seemed to have nice housings. I always had good luck with sylvania silver star bulbs.
  13. I prefer to use a vc bolt or intake horn bolt. Screw it in a few threads and then wiggle or use a pry bar to pop them out. Make sure to pull the tubes far enough away lol. That one was a bit puzzling for 10 or 15min.
  14. It is for the fuel injector return.
  15. Love the old iron. Glad to see people still saving them for use.
  16. Just some old steel wagon wheels and cooper at/3's (junk) Yea a whole 2hp difference LOL
  17. A nice/decent body for it. Actually yes. When I fixed the trans pump that should be the last issue that keeps me from driving it. Though I am sure it will find something else to get upset about.
  18. Look at the pcm output of the od solenoid. It is nothing more than a ground. Check tps position.
  19. Could be as simple as a sensor or could be as expensive as a complete rebuild. Are you prepared for the latter?
  20. So this is the truck that started my addiction. This is about what it looked like when I brought it home in 2010. It has had a few different turbo, injector and pump setups. I'll just give a quick run down of what they were and what the current is. First setup (past stock) was a set of cpp 7x.010s, he351cw, tst pm3/diablo power puck/smarty, built auto, and ad II 165. Next notable setup was a bit of a step up. s467.7, Infinite performance 6x.013s, tst comp/ts mvp, common rail cylinder head, same built auto and lift pump. All this time was on the original injection pump which I did not realize until I ppumped. The day after the dyno I decided to ppump to meet my further goals. Only things I changed was the injection pump and cylinder head (common rail head does not have the clearance required for a ppump). Single best modification I have ever done to the truck. Less smoke and more power. I ran 3 different turbo chargers with the first 180hp pump. S467.7, S475 and finally a S472. At which point I decided I needed compounds. Dyno sheet is for the initial setup. A 180hp pump with 5ks & 024 dvs, same 6x.013s, same trans and same lift pump. With a bit of nitrous involved. And that brings us to the fun one. The compounds. The secondary (manifold) charger is a 66/68 with a .91 t4 housing. The primary is an S4T 86/110 with a 1.15 t6 housing. At this point I did purchase another ppump and sent it to Farrell Diesel to be benched. Transmission has been updated to a monster pump mike bolt together torque converter, larger input shaft and one of mikes outputs. I also stepped up to larger injector from Infinite. 6x.018s. It is a bit rowdy now lol.
  21. Sounds like the 97 I just bought. I about fell over when I opened the door and saw how nice the interior is.
  22. I never had a problem with any of the bhafs until approx. 600whp.
  23. Not nearly the problems. They can have issues but normally shows up as low power first before damaging the injection pump.
  24. Think small block chevy with too much cam and not enough cylinder head lol
