  1. That's some pretty good mileage! I think they look fine, I mean its a van, are you going to tell me there are really awesome looking vans out there I kinda look at it as a 1 ton minivan lol. I would have no problem getting one if I had a business that needed one. I love the sound they make. You got any pics of the 5 cyl Flman?
  2. Run them through the Jack Lelanne Power Juice of course! Yeah it was pretty amazing how long they burned. The story on how I found out...The bag of pecans broke open and a whole bunch went all over the counter and stove and some went under the coil of the burner, I cleaned all the rest up but the ones under the coil. So when I boiled water for spaghetti, the thing smoked for a while and that's when I realized I missed a few, figured they would just turn to charcoal so didn't care, until they all exploded into flames. So I just kinda thought they would go out after a few seconds, then a few more exploded and next thing I knew the whole pot was engulfed So then I blew them all out, realized that's why they can be used for biodiesel, and made this video.
  3. Stumbled upon this by accident a few hours ago, don’t ask :rolleyes:So we see how similar diesel and a pecan are. This shows exactly how diesel fuel works in the engine. The only difference is that the combustion chamber raises diesel fuel to the auto ignition temperature instantly since it is a mist and takes next to no time at all to get mist droplets to absorb the surrounding heat and ignite. This also shows how the oil in nuts can be used as a fuel, since it is very apparent how it has the same characteristics. I was pretty amazed by how much flame it produced and the duration of it, out of just one little pecan.
  4. Well thanks. I'm actually looking for criticism Can't believe nobody told me they hated the way it was before It was daunting to think of making it better because of having to do it on excel and openoffice. I am not the greatest on openoffice and even the formula names are different and I don't know them. It converts xls to ods or something but half the time it doesn't know what to do and throws codes. I am pretty sure I have everything basic enough now that everything will work with that one file. That will make it so much easier. I just wish people would complain about it or tell me what else they wanted I have my own personal edition of this file that I had to delete several pages of stuff on since I do a lot of stuff just out of it being something neat that I don't think people care to have clutter up a spreadsheet that is supposed to be useful. Like here is something I did and got rid of for use on this thread. Think you've seen it Mike.
  5. I see them around all the time. Very quiet and smooth sounding. Wonder what they get for mileage.
  6. I'll have to work on a google version too then. I'll try and get one up within 6 hours. ---------- Post added at 03:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:02 PM ---------- Finally made the damn thing universal! I've been fighting openoffice and excel this whole time spending hours more to make it work on the other :banghead: Learned how to make it rudimentary enough to be universal Also added another section to my list of random crap
  7. I update the files on post #1. I didn't want to end up having them somewhere in the middle of the thread so I always delete and upload the new ones on the first.
  8. Basically just stick to what Mike has already preached, speed kills mileage. But you also have to remember I don't have a front axle or TC or any of that.. My truck sits lower to the ground, and I have the stock 245/75 tires with aluminum wheels, so all very light. I also just drive it very easy. I made a wastegate video last week and that was the first time I have seen over 10psi in months. Might sound incredible but I don't drive 70mph. The 65mph 4 lane I drive 180 miles a week on I never break 60 on, so now 10psi sounds a little more easy to set as your max. So basically, slow down. I have done it so much I almost hate going 70+ anymore. You never realize how leisurely you can drive at 55-60 until you do it for a while then go back to 70 and find yourself having to pay more attention and hold the steering wheel tighter and everything. I never have to get in the fast lane either, so it's even more stress free lol. Get on the highway, set the cruise, keep it somewhere between the lines of the only lane you will use, easy. Now, I did read about a guy on CF months ago who was trying to get every single drop of fuel, he would push the clutch in on any downhill, shut the engine off at stoplights, everything, and he said he was getting 37 doing that. I don't really doubt him but that has got to be hard on the clutch unless he is double clutching or something. Not to mention hard on his batteries. Maybe I should try it for a tank. Mike used to have a 20mpg theory that stated it would happen if you kept it under 600F EGT and 5psi. I have found this hard to do on mine but somehow still get over 21 every time. I think 24v's can keep to that rule a little easier, so you might try that. Extra exhaust valve helps you guys get rid of more volumes of heat so you don't hit the 600 as fast. Mine has a hard time keeping it so low. I tried it and found myself going very slow up hills and hardly able to get to 60.
  9. Version 7/28/2010 Updated the files again. Made the conversions page 100x less busy, along with some other things to make it less confusing.
  10. I just figured out I am within a tank for several different regions If I do 800 miles on 34 gallons that is only 23.5MPG which I can easily attain, so here is everywhere within an 800 mile radius. I know roads will screw me over a little but I can just go slower so I get over 800 on the tank. Got to looking at it again and I am in the majority of all but 3 regions, which I still touch part of those 3. Guess I am centered in the US
  11. Read Mike! I have never seen one up close so I think it will be neat as ever. Tell the UPS man to hurry up.
  12. I emailed them at sunrise and still nothing. I am going to call them right now because I want to hear what they have to spew ---------- Post added at 03:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:24 PM ---------- Called, got transfered, left message to "right person" told him his site is jacked, told him call me back lol. I'm gonna get to the bottom of these ate up results.
  13. Here is a writeup on it. http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/2ndgen24v/fuel-pressure/fuel-pressure.htm At 20 you are doing perfect.
  14. Alright I am not up on all this chip stuff so what does SW and TM mean?
  15. Mine really isn't much louder at 920. Seems like it starts getting noisy anywhere over 1000. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uoe550IgJr0
  16. Oh now this sounds neat! Get pics of the whole swap, showing differences between the 2 turbos! Sounds like it will be worth it.
  17. So it gets lower as things get newer. Wonder if it has anything to do with getting ever more precise with technology
  18. Forgot about conoco and phillips 66 being the same :banghead: The phillips 66 in town is what gets me all my numbers though. Forgot about BP, they have some good stuff too. The B20 here is 20 cents more than regular, no clue why. I think turnover has a lot to do with it. That phillips 66 is a very very busy place.
  19. From what I can tell it ranks like this from worst to best. Casey's general store (yes I found one with diesel)Walmart (probably same as casey's)Break Time/MFAFlying J's/Love's/ConocoShellPhillips 66Based on personal experiences. As for stations with blended, if I were *you*, I would get the blended stuff. Biodiesel has more lube than anything. It does detract mileage a little, but I would be curious to find out how much worse it is when you run it. I run B20 every now and then and don't notice too big of loss. B2 or B5 sounds like the perfect mixture, as B20 is way overkill.
  20. Those are just engine block numbers. Can't really look them up. The data plate on the side of the timing case is all you need to be worried about. As far as 53 block, check this out http://www.stamey.info/Truck/Cummins53BlockFAQ.htm
  21. Yeah I was trying to find one on google that split it up good enough for people to meet up. Time zone didn't work worth a damn since someone in Florida might end up calling a guy in Maine and that would be the end of that. The second way seemed a little too broken up but the more I look at it the more I like it. Will be nice knowing someone in your section is within a tank of fuel away.
  22. Was trying to find idle RPM stuff and somehow got to banks, never been there so clicked around and came across statistics. So I went to this page; http://www.bankspower.com/products/show/138/31 At the bottom of that page: Maximum speed, hill-climb, towing (measured on a 7% grade) 47 mph (2nd gear) Test Vehicle: 1995 pickup with 5-speed manual trans So I did some figuring and I gave them the benefit of the doubt and put on stock 4x4 tires which I think are the 265/75/16. Even then, they would be doing 5371.8 RPM at that 47mph in 2nd. Even worse, 47MPH is 2951RPM in 3rd! Redline on 12v is 3000, with most of them being lower because of hard defueling. All of this was with a load of 10,800lbs. Which leads me to believe I can't trust any of their data at all. Funny when they mislead you on something you can calculate to be absolutely wrong
  23. Well that is interesting. Wonder why mine says to idle so high. It had a 16th left in it and I ended up going to town and back 60 mile round trip, probably good for another 50 Gotta drive slow :lol:That idle thing though, hmmmmm, I'm gonna research and see what all the different cummins' idle at.
  24. You guys need to idle them much lower and conserve fuel. My oil pressure is always there at that temp, think 75F out right now, it goes up with coldness but hardly, just acts like a on/off gauge. When I hooked a real gauge up I see 90 on cold days and it will drop as it warms up going down below 60psi. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmOspG5PafQ Tag on the side of the block says 920, which is actually where it sounds perfectly smooth to an incredible degree, but I don't want to snap my neck letting off the clutch http://www.mopar1973man.com//isx97/Truck%20Stuff/Ryan's%20Dodge/Engine%20Pull/IMG_0430.JPG
  25. If you want it to be regional, time zone looks like the best way to go. Though I would only use 4, so Hawaii and Alaska would be in the Pacific section. Though maybe not since it cuts states in half. This one would be perfect but would need many sections. I don't think it would be a problem if you made them sub-forums so we don't have to scroll past them all on the main page.
