Jeep overheating, changed everything now what!
I got a triple core to replace the single core piece of crap on ebay. It's all aluminum and very fancy looking. Threw it in and that thing doesn't even get to 210 now. Tops out around 205 maybe. Around town the electric fan never even comes on. That thing is just incredible. Very happy with it. I can definitely do whatever I want at this point and never have it overheat.

Anyone dyno with and without BHAF ?
Someday I'll get a thermal imaging monitor and see what is really happening

Actually 195. They screwed up and gave me the 5.9 V8 gasser one but somehow it fits perfect and all that temp swaying crap is fixed so I couldn't ask for more. I put in a digital water temp gauge at the back of the block (where it is OEM) so I could see exact numbers. So much nicer than guessing between 140-190-230. It still stays around 180 though so I'm not sure if gasser thermostats open early or if it has to do with the probe location or what. I thought it must gaine 15F or something going to the front of the head to the thermostat but that would mean the 180 cummins thermostat would also have the same 15F drop and the OEM gauge would have shown 165 which it sure didn't unless it's way off. I never had the OEM one in with the digital gauge.

Anyone dyno with and without BHAF ?
It's kind of an insurance thing. I was pulling our trailer around a dirt road dirt bike thing with lots of hills at 5-10mph and the heater wasn't doing it's job being 100F outside already and I saw 215F. So there are circumstances which call for it and thats where the piece of mind of having it comes in. Plus having the heater on isn't exactly fun That's why I think just a little pusher fan would take care of it all for the 1% of the time that you need it. I've also thought about just having a little misting system spray it since I love doing things different Would also be good to use with water injection. My EGT gauge actually has relays in it that I can set to whatever temp I want for it to energize and deenergize so it has water injection written all over it. If you have a TT over 5000lbs or over 10,000lbs of dead weight (no billboard effect) then I would say a fan is mandatory since we all have seen the temps climb pulling loads like that on interstates up longgg steep hills and I would hate to be at the misfortune of not having a fan to take care of it. Our trailer is maybe 4000lbs and even doing 70 up 7% 2 mile long grades on a 100F day I only get to 205ish with the trailer and no fan or heater on, I think the a/c was on as well.

I actually think I had a drop in EGT from ditching the shroud. Since the shroud blocks off everything but the fan, I think you lose a lot of potential airflow. I have heard the shroud is needed to make the fan work effectively but if the fan isn't on I think it works against you. And yeah I have never needed the fan except for <10mph operation which I have just been turning the heater on full blast with the windows down and that keeps it under 210. The A/C also gets hot at stoplights. In the future I would like to get just 1 little low profile electric fan and throw it in the middle of the radiator that blows towards the grill and I think it would solve all the low speed issues. It really seems to only take 10-15mph to get it back to cooling effectively. Radiators are just huge on these things.

It goes up a lot when I stop... You have no airflow under your hood. I think I've seen 160F under there when I let it idle for 5 minutes. I have no fan so yeah it just started to get hot. But with no fan or shroud or batteries I have nothing but airflow under there. Your conclusions prove it cause I know you have a tonnn of stuff under the hood.

Anyone dyno with and without BHAF ?
Yeah I've done just that.. Zip tied the thermocouple right to the BHAF.. The most I EVER saw was 25F over ambient on a 95F day pulling our trailer up this steep long hill passing everyone. Most of the time it was 10-15F over. Without the trailer its more like 5-10F tops. When it is cold outside (<32F) it is 0-5F. I've watched it for months..

24 valve P7100 swap
27 is 55mph highway driving and takes a little work. 25 is easy enough. 23 is my typical city/highway. My tires are so small that my RPM is really high as in 2100 RPM at 70 so by then I'm at 21MPG which has been the same every time I have done 70. Between the high RPM and modest timing I run (13-14), it doesn't bode well for high RPM. I just hate losing the low end torque when I rack the timing up. With an auto tranny I would throw it at 15.5* in a heartbeat.

Hoooot!
I've been to vegas at 120F and 5-10% humidity and it was fine. We get 80+% humidity here and 80F can feel hotter than the 120F. It absolutely sucks. You can sweat all you want but I swear it just makes it worse.

Vehicle Accident
I wonder if it needs to go into law to turn your hazards on if you are in a traffic jam. I mean it is hard to judge how fast traffic is actually going sometimes but if they have their hazards on then you know they are moving very slow so you don't have to do any guesswork. All those accidents cept for the TT one prove the difficultly it is in judging how fast traffic is actually going. If it was law to turn your hazards on anytime you are like 20 under the limit, then people would know they were coming up on slow traffic and they would be prepared to stop. Whenever you come up on traffic that is slowing down you always assume they are just going slow to pass a semi, then you get closer and closer and find out they are going 5mph and have to slam on you brakes. Hazards would tell you to get 20 under at the maximum when coming up on them and you would have a lot better chance of stopping.

Vehicle Accident
Yesterday I ran up on a semi on its side all tore up. Several hours later traffic was backed wayyyyy up. Turns out there were 3 separate accidents. The semi truck said traffic came to an abrupt half and he swerved to miss cars. The rest is here. http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/local/multiple-crashes-snarl-interstate-traffic/article_8ede0fa2-e02b-11e2-9d49-0019bb30f31a.html So there you have it. Stupid people passing semi trucks so they can maintain 80mph with their TT. Then people who can't tell if traffic is going slow or not so they just plow them. I believe our drivers license system in the US is way too lax. You should be retested completely every 5 years. The people in my city are complete idiots and I could make a list a page long of the stuff they do. My dad knew the drivers license person and apparently didn't even have to take the damn test back in the early 70's so he's been golden ever since. In Europe you have to take mandatory driving courses and prove yourself in every situation, including powersliding the vehicle and being able to get it back under control.

Jeep overheating, changed everything now what!
Alright I know I am slow at this mainly cause I live in an apartment now and can't exactly do anything but slam the hood in the parking lot. A week or 3 ago I used my IR heat gun and was only getting 20F between the 2 radiator hoses. The radiator leaks now so I bought a million dollar one to replace it. Now I would like to clean the crap out of the engine too, would any of that radiator flush work or being I am replacing the radiator and don't care if it gets clogged, is there a more aggressive route to take or something?

engine running hot
Might look into this. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/26-engine-systems/46-engine-what-happens-if-you-keep-the-stock-crankcase-vent

Made a flag pole for my truck!
I like it for some reason

Tow or haul ?
Eh, I like the way you strapped it down and if I owned something with 4 wheels (I do dirt bikes lol) I think I would revert to your method. Thanks for sharing it. Everyone has their own methods....but reading how others do it could enlighten others

Road Rant....
The OP was sent to him from someone else as is said at the end of the post.. I think it was also just a joke from his friend as well. Calm down dorkweed lol.

Biofuel or what
Biodiesel is renewable so maybe they just wanted to make you aware of that

BigTex 70TV
How long did it take mom to unload all that? If they want to barrow it, say ok and go stand next to the old trailer telling them to back up lol.

P-pumped 24v, now no cruise
I thought the VP44 trucks didn't do anything other than tell the VP44 to inject more fuel, no pedal movement required. Am I wrong here? The 12V uses a vacuum actuator POS to pull the throttle (physically).. I assume you have this vacuum stuff hooked up?

Someone needs to straighten these people out
I'm sure there are minor differences but they all have one thing in mind..to lube a 2 stroke without leaving a trail of buildup. In that regards they would all be the same I would think. As far as using it or howes, I would do one or the other, no need for using both.

If you get lost in the woods, what do you do?
Excuse my ignorance on this but how did the settlers know how to navigate back to plymouth rock or wherever from england each time thereafter? I know they had a compass but there is nothing on the ocean... I wouldn't think their maps would be accurate enough to point the ship in the direction of the town starting from england and be able to get anywhere close.
-
If you get lost in the woods, what do you do?
That's a situation like I was originally trying to get at.. You guys have all basically said "don't get lost" by being able to remember things or know how to get to other things. W&F hit it dead on with my intent of this.

In debt?!
So seeing as how it is listed from highest to lowest and the red ones are the ones who didn't pay back, dodge is the problem Maybe you shouldn't have shared that

...speaking of fords
My brother has 350k miles on his 6.0. It had that head gasket issue like all the rest, changed it and now its fine. Has had 13,000+ lbs on it it's whole life with him driving it like he stole it. Automatic tranny is completely stock and untouched. Those torqueshifts or whatever they are are bulletproof. Still, it won't move if it's under 2000 RPM and theres no way I would want to work on the mess under the hood. I also hate the way the 1999+ style F250's drive and feel. I hate the way my dodge feels as well but not as much as those things. My old 1990 F250 was awesome, seems they have just gone downhill from there. I drove a 2012 2500 duramax allison whatever it is and it had that ford feel to it as well. Just 100000lbs of luxury and no real truck feel, I just can't stand that. I did used to drive the 1st generation durmax (2001 I think) and it was nice. So nice that I would buy one over anything else. Obviously would need to super glue the tailgate latch in But yeah after they went on to the newer styles they have just gone downhill. Everyone has a preference, that's my preference. If I had it my way I would put my dodge on top of the ford chassis keeping the 12V with it, put that torqueshift auto in it, be good to go.
