  1. I think I would question this part, Lol I run 428's for years in my '74 Ford dually with 4.56 gears and a 3spd aux. The Cummins conversion runs circles around it.
  2. The 35639 appears to fit the '94-98 12 valve. https://www.genosgarage.com/product/gates-33888-kit/thermostat
  3. If your truck is original, it should have a D60/D70 automatic....D60/D80 standard. Some good info here: Front:http://dodgeram.org/tech/specs/axle/axlespecs.html Rear:http://dodgeram.org/tech/specs/axle/rear_axle.html
  4. Not an MT but my set of 285/75x16 Mastercraft Courser HXT's are not doing well at all. 20k miles on them and they are at 5/32's average. Had a small rock in the tread of one last week and it blew out as it was going flat. This is on the '01. I am looking at Hercules AT tire now. We installed a set on the '91 this summer 235/85x16 OEM size. They are made in USA. I run a lot of China tires on my trailers with so so luck.
  5. Lots of info here: https://mopar1973man.com/topic/14517-weird-issue-with-brake-pedal-feel-and-ps-pump/
  6. The 35703 should work, from Napa. https://www.napaonline.com/en/search?text=thermostat&q=N%3D5002000%2B5002200%2B200220100%2B10200100%2B402203300%2B599999900%2B2500010%2B2802476%26Nty%3D1%26Ntt%3Dthermostat%26Ntk%3DKeyword&isApplication=true&indices=API
  7. OP, what kind of boost are you seeing at WOT? Are you using a boost fooler, and or elbow?
  8. You are actually not too far off. Back in the day before the 5.9, the big truck engines did not have them. I think that is where most of the horror stories of melted pistons originated from. Back then, melted pistons was real, on turned up trucks.
  9. I wouldn't make a good snowplow driver, I don't like wide loads, Lol Anyone remember this, last winter in Utah.
  10. Seven pages over 7 years here on the subject, lol https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/warning-prefilling-an-oil-filter-can-be-dangerous-to-your-engine.211771/
  11. If you like the sound of an old 275 Cummins with the roots blower and back draft manifold, you will like this old IHC KB12. This old guy has about 20 acres of antiques, mostly trucks and dozers. The Gold King Mine, Jerome, AZ. it is built on the side of a mountain. Watch both video's, part one and two, awesome.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyT073WNUwI...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UB4jxD1cEs
  12. What is that second gooseneck attached to? I don't see a dolly. I noticed at the start of your thread you haul stock trailers, do you still? I hauled six, single axle bumper pull horse trailers one time for a big rodeo for prizes. I had one on the neck (I had a 7'x10' deck on it) 2 on the main deck and towed one. Then my wife towed 2 in tandem, but Arizona don't allow two bumper pulls as doubles so we had to sneak in the back way. I hauled her truck over, Madill, OK. to Snowflake, AZ. Even with the tires off, the one on the neck was so wind resistant I hardly ever used my exhaust brake, it pulled hard.
  13. It was fun back in the day but after hauling logs for 25 years (mostly 2 sticks) and this Ford for 33 years, (installed the aux in '85) the 6 spd is just simple. Plus, like I said, it has more power and AC. I do miss the mellow growl of the Cummins with twin stacks tho….. Yes, I really like the desert in the winter but they can have it in the summer. Where I live, everywhere I go is up hill and I live at 5800'. Mesa is about 1200' and the rim above Payson is almost 8,000' so you know what a round trip with a load is like. For some reason I have never been in Nebraska. The closest is Clay Center, KS. I picked up a tub grinder there for my poop business.
  14. Maybe pull the tranny mount bolts and lift it some, that will tilt the engine forward, or pull the right motor mount bolt or both of them and drop the engine a bit.
  15. Yes, but just local runs, it is too much work to drive, I prefer the simple 6 spd in the '01 and it has a lot more power and AC
  16. Yes, Main box is a Clark 280VO 5spd, Aux. is a Spicer 5831 3spd. Some info and pictures here: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/74-ford-f-350-cummins-6bta.260213/
  17. That's a nice build, I like the looks of the tranny. What is you thoughts on the 4 point engine/tranny mount? Automotive applications are usually a three point, due to frame flex. Do you think it might put excess stress on the engine block at the engine mounts? They are known to crack, especially the left side.
  18. Hauled a load of cinder block today, I think I am going to like this new fluid. The truck even seems to drive a little better once I get up to speed. Seems to come off center easier, it used to be really tight. At slow speed it seems about the same, probably the 285 tires. I was surprised at how thin the fluid was, about like 0 weight. It should work well this winter and flow through the cooler and filter better.
  19. Thanks, that's good to know. I will report back after I get some seat time.
  20. Yes, that's it in the picture all apart. There is no number on the filter, so there probably is no way to identify it. I went ahead and installed the new one and changed out the fluid to Red Line synthetic.
  21. I couldn't stand the suspense so I picked up a new filter. I just pulled the old one off and it is not bad at all. I guess changing the fluid fairly regular kept it cleaner than I thought. I wonder if a guy could just wash the filter insert and reuse it, maybe at least once? I have about 1k miles on it.

Nice! Looks like a '71. How about some info on the drive train? Picture of my '74 Ford Cummins, 5 spd main, 3 spd Spicer aux box.
  23. I just did mine, here are a few pictures, not much instruction tho. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/weekend-maintenance-on-the-01.259915/#post-2558205
  24. Torque King has this, they claim it is as good as the original Castrol Syntorq. https://torqueking.com/product/90020/qu90020-75w85w-nv4500-manual-transmission-oil-by-redline-1-quart/
  25. I didn't look at the price, jeeze! I wonder how many quarts that is! These guys don't list the price but they are saying is replaced by ATF+4?? https://puredieselpower.com/products/mopar-4874459-synthetic-manual-transmission-gear-lube.html
