Back up Cameras?
On my gen 3 truck I used the Edge CTS Insight for gauges and added the backup camera feature. It is a license plate camera and had to be wired to the Insight mounted in the cab. It can see in the dark as well as daylight and the camera angle (view) is adjustable. It is wired so that when I am in reverse the camera comes on and I can also turn it on if I want to when I am not in reverse. I didn't want to add an additional monitor (screen) in the truck so the Edge was an option that allowed me to avoid having to do that. The camera option was a tad spendy compared to prices of other brands/options. Here is a link where the back up cameras were discussed previously http://forum.mopar1973man.com/index.php?/topic/4953-backup-camera/ I have had mine on for several years now and I am pleased with it's performance.

An eye candy project.
I use a product called Flitz for polishing aluminum parts like the landing gear, spinner and door hinge parts etc., on my plane. No kidding on the work involved. Finished product glistens and of course you have to keep it up to keep it nice looking. Don't have near the realestate to do as your boat, but shiney always brings in lots of cudo's. The power buffer is a requirement.

12 volt air compressor
Sure, give me a call and we can meet up. We can meet some where for lunch if you would like. See my offer below. Don't go into Boise much and Twin Peaks is probably more rowdy and loud than I would choose but hey I would be glad to spot lunch for you all at a good lunch buffet or pizza joint. Someone cover the liquid refreshments and I'll cover the food! You would be welcome to join in! See above offer.

12 volt air compressor
I used Viair parts but bought them on Amazon rather that from Viair. Less money and free shipping. There are two different styles of pressure switches with various pressure ratings to match your needs and the relay if you need it was like 6 bux. If you decide to do on-board-air then I would recommend you mount the compressor somewhere that will allow you to keep the inlet filter in a dry and relative dust free area. I found 3 of those type of locations on my truck. Inlet filter mounted up high between the cab and front pickup bed, inlet filter in the engine compartment or inlet filter inside the cab someplace. As you can see I have the compressor mounted under the truck between the frame rail and the outside body of the truck. I built a splash guard to help keep heavy water and snow off the compressor and tank and electrical connections. You can't ford any deep creeks or water with it mounted under the truck but I have not had a spec of problems with my setup. Everything (including electrical connections) has worked fine for over the last year and half that I had installed it. The setup operates my pacbrake, my air horn and allows me to air up tires, tubes, floats etc.

Smarty S-03 http://madselectronics.com/Smarty03.html Feature set: (from the MadsElectric site.) ABS tire height updates in just seconds Cold weather 3 Cylinder High Idle is enabled in all softwares Reads Diagnostic Trouble Codes in plain text Programmable Speed Limiter from 25 to 250 mph (in trucks of 2001 and 2002 the speed limiter is programmable in mph, older trucks have only a speed adjustment) SW# 1 : Fuel Saver SW# 2 : Only more fuel and Boost fooling SW# 3 : Like # 2 + added timing SW# 4 : “Soft” CaTCHER no added timing SW# 5 : Like # 4 + added Timing SW# 6 : Mild CaTCHER no added timing SW# 7 : Like # 6 + added Timing SW# 8 : CaTCHER no added timing SW # 9 : CaTCHER with Timing Software number Zero, About half the power of a stock software. Use it whenever reduced power is desired or when you have to make sure that NO SMOKE is produced . Software number One, The Fuel Saver software. Mpg gains vary, in most cases a + 2 MPG has been reported. Please notice that the timing in this software is rather aggressive. HEAVY TOWING is not recommended with this software. Software number Two, This software increases the fuel delivered by the ECM and does the boost fooling. Software number :Three, Same as software # 2 but timing has been added. CaTCHER softwares from number : Four to number Nine, The even numbered softwares are identical to the odd numbered ones, except for the timing. The softwares without added timing are intended for use with timing adding boxes. The power gain at top RPM with these softwares is almost identical. These softwares differ greatly in HOW they get there. Than higher the software number then more aggressive the throttle response from idle speed up. Aggressive to the point that the softwares Eight and Nine can become difficult to handle on slippery roads. Please be very careful when you use these softwares for the first time! It takes some time to learn how to handle them. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC HP OR TORQUE NUMBERS LISTED ON THIS WEB SITE. HX35 Upgrades?
I have a gen 2 that I run RV275s, a quad ZXT and an HX35/40 hybrid with a modified tranny and I have the 4" exhaust from the turbo back. I think it runs very well and I regularly get 22mpg's+ ( on the road ) hand calculated. I opened up the exhaust housing from the 12cm2 that came with the truck to a 14cm2 to reduce back pressure. There was a slight lag with the 14cm2 housing but when I added the RV275s it is much more truck than the stock version. I run a positrac in the rear end and from a dead stop I can easily break the tires loose in a non-boosted launch. Stock truck could never do that. No smoke in this setup and it passes like a scared rabbit. Everybody that drives this truck comments about its pickup and go!

Pre-Flight Speech
Been on a flight like this. I have actually heard 4 different and funny safety preflight scenarios on Southwest over the last few years. Kind of takes the edge off some routine stuff. Always a good laugh if you get lucky and get one of these presentations.

emisions testing
Here in the county I live in Idaho they have started doing emission testing. Both my gen 2 and gen 3 have to be tested. The only thing they test for is opacity. Then they physically look over the truck to make sure original emission equipment (that the vehicle came with) is still in place (i.e. kitty etc.) They don't test it in any way but if it is missing then you don't pass. Glad I don't have a gen 4.

Exhaust brake
I have a PacBrake on my gen 3 with auto and it has worked well. I installed the model that fits in place of the elbow off the turbo to the downpipe. Nice and compact and stays up out of road debris and winter slush and ice. Don't have one on my gen 2 but Pacbrake has a model that would install there also.

North Dakota State University Bison 4 peat championship run
That's cool! Here in Idaho we have a similar happening in that Boise State Broncos have an enormous following that travels to away games in very large numbers as well. While we are in the NCAA league we have won 3 fiesta bowls for national recognition as well as being ranked in the top 25 teams nationally for a number of different years, which does wonders for recruiting and fund raising for the University. I can imagine NDSU also reaps great financial and recruiting benefits from the football teams success and all the community support and public recognition. Not to mention its just plain cool and fun to see and participate in winning activities.

Thinking of upgrading my Edge W/Attitude. Suggestions?
I run the Edge CTS monitor and the Smarty S06. The CTS allows me to control the POD settings of my Smarty and I use it as my gauge set for the truck.

3rd gen 4x4 shifting question.
My '05 Laramie has the electronic shift and has worked well since I've owned it. My '00 has the manual shift on the floor but still some how uses vacuum to shift into gear. I couldn't shift into 4x4 a few weeks back and found of vacuum hose was split. Once fixed it shifted fine.
