Recommended thermostat opening temp
That's what my stats did. They fit into the grove, and not on the outside of it. That grove is to seal with the gasket. Although, when i bleed the system I leave the Tstat out and put it on once I'm filling the truck up and it gets up into the top of the head. I also park my truck on a hill and angle her so that side is the highest up too.

Fuel mileage sucks! Please help!
I'd be really interested in seeing how your truck performs. I believe that you should be fine with that set up. 90's on a HX should be ok, unless your towing heavy. If you do move forward I would love to see the results, because we do need more data then we have which is literally myself and two other guys.

My concern with popping 50hp Injectors so high is the fact that you may have issues with that small of an injector? That maybe why?

I would see about 300F difference. But I also think it also depends on what you have set up. My dodge I need to leave in neutral at traffic lights because my TC is so low I see 450F in gear with my foot on the brake. When you go from neutral to drive at a light you can hear the engine load up, and the turbo start spooling. It turns heads in cars haha. I see running down the road 600-700 at 70mph. Towing is in the 800-900 range under full boost. Are your 75's SAC style?

Fuel mileage sucks! Please help!
I don't know about Idaho, but I did 2 day shipping on my Injectors from NJ to DAP in UT and had them back in the same week, and that included getting them re popped, flow tested, and having them ship them back. I went through the same gambit. I had 4 injector shops tell me everything from 5 day to 2 weeks to get my injectors done, since no one stocked shims and springs etc. So I was concerned about that. But DAP had that stuff in stock and I believe that it was done in the same day and finished. Mike may even have an injector tester set up or know of a place up that way?

Probably popping low. I don't think so. When I first installed my 100's they were very clean. Raising pop pressure decreases lag by shorten duration and increasing velocity. When i first installed them 3 years ago, the 100's with no programming(Timing) burn stupidly hot, however it spools like a chainsaw. I haven't run the truck with the smarty turned off with the current pop @322bar with the truck in 300 parts currently I'm out of commission. I do believe that raising the pop pressure cured about all of my smoke issues with the Smarty turned up. I believe that the truck would drive just fine, just not for towing, I need that timing from the smarty for EGT control.

I had 33,000 on mine by the time I was at 280bar. They were 300 when I started. But the smarty exasurbated this issue. The last 10-15,000 miles were becoming an issue for me. So who knows where they were at 15,000 miles.

My 99 idles in part at 200F with 100's popped at 320bar. back when they were at 280 bar I was seeing upwards of 250-300F. However, under load I was seeing higher boost and EGT's because I had to have my foot farther into the throttle in order to keep it moving. I would pull and get the injectors popped personally. Find out what size they are and what your popping at. I have done what you speak of, but your not going to hear the change. the only thing that really works is the 3 Cylinder high idle mod, and you can swap injectors around, but that's a waste of time. If you have say 100's or 150 hp injectors and your programmer isn't tuned right for them you will see issues. Pop to low, same thing. I had issues with my brakes dragging, transmission binding and other dumb stuff including a wheel out of alignment. But 11mpg is still better then a ford Excursion getting 6mpg. I just think you should be 17-20mpg easily in that GMC.

Yes and no, At lower pop pressures i think it causes a noticeable lag, Because the needle is blocking most of the tip. (unlike the SAC style), but VCO's are designed for on road engines, and they do burn cleaner especially at higher pop pressures, because the lag at the start of injection with a VCO nozzle is lessened. I believe that smoke control and lag are directly related to pop pressure. And what you see at 280 bar vs 320 bar is huge. Even for me I noticed the difference any time I would accelerate out of at turn. (like making a left or a right). At 280 bar I would roll coal every time. At 320 bar i didn't see any smoke at all making the same turns, not to mention that I need less throttle to make the same acceleration pattern. And pushing the throttle deeper didn't make any smoke either.

New ecm, no power at all
Thanks, I tracked down and messaged everyone on that thread. I'm hoping that I can get some replies. What concerns me is There's two guys there who also had issues with ACE on there. Just waiting for verification.

See below. FWIW: My older 60HP injectors were popping ok, but I had one injector that was failing, and another one that was on the way. The failure was the pintle needles were starting to bind up inside the injector nozzle. I pulled them apart to clean them and couldn't get them to clean up and the one that was sticking was most likely the cause of my smoke and timing knock. I tested my spray pattern using brake cleaner and some electrical tape that I used to pack out the straw so it could only go one way. That's how I know the one injector was clogged. Fast forward to my 100's, They were doing good but popped low. At stock 300bar my 100's were smoke free, and smoked less with my smarty. At 322Bar my 100's show no smoke at all with my smarty.

Do you have a link to this other cummins forum or the thread you found? I'm looking into them as we speak.

Who needs grid heaters, i started my dodge up at 20F with my 100's and forgot to even plug it in. This is very true. The new Quad is the top of the line for VP tuning, Thats not to say you can't get deals on other stuff, but it is indeed the best of all worlds. TST Products is still around I think this is their new website https://www.tstproducts.com/faqs.aspx#24Valve

Can I ask where you found them from? I'm wondering what to make of them, reliability wise? @Mopar1973Man Ah this make sense. I wonder what ACS would have said.

SIA? Can you expand on this?

New ecm, no power at all
I was dam lucky that I had a friend on Facebook who ran a shop that found that had a reliable re builder. So for me I was spared the nightmare. and Of course Mike and I talked about this article for over a year before I was able to search and compile a list of companies.

New ecm, no power at all
I'm thinking I need to redo my table an order it from Positive, neutral and negative. and add in people from each category. Since this company on the list has 1 negative and one neutral now.

This new ECM from All computer resources was it still defective? Or was that resolved?

Extended crank to start
For hot temps that's fairly close, withing 10* Hot is normal for me. Cold they needs to be the same. Often times the IAT sensor fails within specification and you get hard starting. A good way to test is to plug the truck in and she will fire right up. The issue is more commonly seen in the CR era, where guys have these issues because the ECM will not throw a code for that.

Do you have a live date tool? You should compare your ECT and IAT sensors. If you didn't plug your truck in they should read the same temperature at ambiant temperature. And usually they should be within a few degrees of the outside temp if it's early in the morning.

47RE advice
Not to side track John, but I need to give you a ring about shipping out my valve body to you and have you do a good one over on it while I have my Dodge apart. there's things my auto is doing in D that it doesn't do in manual 1.

I second this, But your line pressures are all over the place, Idle should be 75 psi, and driving down the road 200psi is very high. How/Why your line pressure cycle from Your getting the GPS code because it is high. I don't doubt its starting in 2nd or even 3rd at this rate. But I'll give Dynamic some time to reply as he knows way more then I do.

Extended crank to start
I don't think its any one company per say. I think that anytime you have larger injectors this is a possibility. granted that my truck running stock seems to be fine with smoke and performance. But my start the smoke started right after it dropped pop pressure off. But I didn't know it.

I wouldn't set them above 300 bar if they are stock injectors. IMO then you run a risk of starting issues. Popping them higher is only useful on larger injectors and its a theory with only 4 members reporting back about using them. The larger the injector the more slippage you can get, I have heard that some guys can set them 10% higher without issue on stock injectors, but then your missing timing.

You can buy the cheap nylon line, I just used greese gun hose under there just so it doesn't melt against the exhaust of chaff.
