Turbo/Injector balance for towing/EGT control
Despite what I wrote above, I will likely be putting 265/70/17s on my truck the next time. The facts are that 265/65/17 is a fairly rare truck tire size, so if I need one while far from home it wouldn't be optimal. Second, tire manufacturer data I read at the time of purchase of 265/65 indicates I can't go to a narrower tire with the 3rd Gen aluminum wheels (like a 245/70/17). I don't remember the width offhand, but they are apparently too wide. If this is NOT the case, and that size is readily available (and I'm fairly certain it is) then I'd go the skinnier/shorter route. I have the 3rd Gen brakes, so spending money on 16" wheels and yet another set of brake discs doesn't currently appeal to me. In a perfect world I'd find a cheap Gear Vendors (etc.) not for double over drive, but for "3rd over", if you will, with the 0.78 overdrive they provide. 3.55*(.78/.75) = 3.69, it's exactly 4% so would compensate for my "large stock size" tires.

Turbo/Injector balance for towing/EGT control
To achieve the same final over-drive ratio as the 5-speed trucks, we 47RE guys would need to run a 3.92 rear end. 3.55*(.75/.68) ~3.92 If running a tire that is 7.8% larger in diameter, that means we need even higher gearing: 1.078*3.92 = 4.22 I run 265/65/17 tires, and they are only 0.3% bigger diameter than Mike's tires. But my final "ratio" is: 3.55*(.68/.75) = 3.22 I'd have to run a 27.6" tire to get back to the same RPM at the same road speed, while in overdrive.

Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
I sure like my truck, but last week's 1300 miles made me really appreciate my '05 VW Passat TDI getting 42 MPG. Full A/C use, highway construction slowdowns, and some +75 MPH sections.

Angry & can't do it anymore, serious iQuad timing issues
The one time I set my valves I went with a "loose" .008/.018 (meaning it may have been closer to 9/19 as the last thing I wanted was to be too tight) and so far as I know I have no problems. My engine had around 275k miles at the time, so I made a wild guess that my cam may have slight wear, so didn't want to give up any lift, and it may bring the overlap back into normal. Now I wonder if since I really spend most of my time in the lower RPM range if I should have gone with the 10/20 or slightly looser to actually reduce overlap. Without running it on a dyno, I'm guessing I'll never know. Of course I'm running stock injectors and cam, auto transmission, 3.55 gears, and a HE351W, so my truck really isn't a good comparison for yours in any way!

White smoke, low power when starting
I do believe so. Unless you bought the 4K version of the Adrenaline, I would use the normal V2.
-
White smoke, low power when starting
This drove me nuts for a long while because the V2 tuning is (or was) way at the bottom of the list instead of right by the other tuning for 01 Ram.

@IBMobileWow, that Cerakote certainly seemed to live up to the cost!

I just used some of this stuff today and really like the outcome. You wipe the stuff on, wait about 5 minutes and wipe off or buff a little. This mower is 19 years old to give you an idea. It would seem my phone didn't bother to actually take a picture of it all completely done, even though it made the snap noise - very aggravating when it does that. So, I'll get an "after" photo next time. I just wanted to share with the group. If it turns to trash soon I'll let everyone know. For now, other than the scratches these black tanks could pass for new! EDIT: I forgot to mention this stuff goes on clear.

Okay I’ll admit it I need assistance. Post WT mod issues.
In your second picture it looks like you're trying to get a good ground through two rusty-*** nuts. If that's the case I'd fix that before I bothered to do anything else.

100hp DAP injectors (8 x 0085) Yay, someone else with those injectors! I bought mine months ago (or a year and months ago, can't remember) but still haven't installed them.

Where'd Everybody Go?
Wal-Mart used to be a mom and pop shop. Geno's Garage got started by one guy selling one gauge. Amazon and Apple were each based out of a garage when they started. Stan Kroenke the professional sports magnate may be a multi-billionaire now, but he could have been there sweeping the floor when my grandpa was buying lumber from Stan's father to build our cabin. J.R. Simplot started out as a guy with a good idea for drying onions during WWII. Harvey Firestone started small, but built his empire being smart and thinking ahead, and the world is better because of it. I don't look down on success.

Me, too. I actually let that renewal slip because I feel like their whole focus is trying to be Motor Trend - I don't care about the new Jeeps or sales numbers, nor do I need a writeup on how to wash and wax a car. When the price here shot up I did renew over there - but for many reasons you mention I finally re-renewed here, hoping things financially turn around so the price can come down some and I like the people and feel of the site.

Did I miss something?
I would think that's so there's still room to add the pigment for custom colors. In high school I worked in the Sears paint department and mixed a LOT of paint. The cans we used to mix darker colors had less in them than the cans used for light colors. And premixed colors (white, Almond, etc) were full - no room for tint.

Where'd Everybody Go?
I am I just imagining things, or are a lot of people missing since the end of 2021? Was it the big increase in membership cost? NIssacs BlueOx01 Haggar The rifle cartridge avatar guy (PepsiOcean?) Others I don't remember off hand. Just a year ago I could not keep up with reading posts there were so many, now it's like a small town that's shedding residents. I guess more and more folks are moving from 2nd Gens, and those of us that have them kind of have them dialed in better than before.

Differential gear swap
That's my understanding, as well - at least for 2000 and up. That may be applicable to all 2nd Gens, I just don't know. Of course these trucks are old enough now that it's worth checking EVERY axle; I'd love to put a DANA 80 in my auto 2001 simply because I like the gear-style limited slip diffs, and no one that I can find makes one for the Dana 70.
-
Differential gear swap
DANA 70 has 10.5" ring gear, DANA 80 is 11.25". My humble advice is to stick with gears made for your axle, and that preferably aren't already worn out...

New injectors on the way.....
If I could go back in time and do it all over again, I'd buy the triple A-pillar mount when I bought my first gauge. I bought the double instead, thinking I didn't want that "look at all my gauges" look, or if I sold the truck a buyer might think I was some kind of hot-rodder and likely tore up the truck. They make filler plugs for the holes you don't use. Here's the triple with the door tweeter: https://www.genosgarage.com/product/gm-dg-17205/gauge-mounts1 Since fuel pressure monitoring is so important (even if just a dummy light), that was the first gauge I bought. Of course, at the time I believe the combination gauge of boost and EGT was still available at a reasonable price, and had planned to buy one of those.
-
New injectors on the way.....
If you go this route I strongly recommend using an old phone dedicated strictly to this to leave your phone available for all the other things like navigation. Of course, this is also why I recently bought a Garmin - never failed someone would call RIGHT when I needed guidance to my destination, and even via Bluetooth messed up the screen so I'd miss my turn. I have an Adrenaline and hardly ever open the app so would like to add a boost gauge.

Looks to me like they should fit. https://www.randysworldwide.com/shop/zg-d70-411 If you want to replace some parts while you're in there, I suggest price checking East Coast Gear Supply. It's who I used for genuine DANA/SPICER parts.- White smoke, low power when starting
This is what I try to do when on my computer, just "too difficult" on my phone, navigating back and forth. Way easier when it's two separate apps, so I can't even imagine the number of times I've pasted these links into Facebook VP44 pages, that's how I know the Reader's Digest version is on Page 2. Hopefully some of these folks eventually join, or at least click on advertisements.- Fel Pro head gasket gave up in 4k miles
I think the recommendation to use distilled water is due to so much of the country having chlorine or chloramine in the water. Some older tractor manuals I've seen say to refill the battery with rain water filtered through a "clean rag".- White smoke, low power when starting
Are they bald? Most every 265/70/17 tire I've seen is in the 31.5" diameter range, when new. I bought one of these 4 years ago, based on the then-current Mopar1973Man recommendation. I still use it regularly, the app is great. https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-lx/ - Differential gear swap
