  2. I dorked up my front diff housing when I did it. I was a little stingy with the RTV. I had a tiny channel that formed when I torqued it up. I had to redo it and lost over a gallon of mobil 1 oil.
  3. You really only have two options in that area. Your rear main or the oil pan. I would pull the starter and make sure the bell housing is clean, then ignore the oil pan leak til summer.
  4. Is it coming from the inside of the bell housing?
  5. Levelling kit. I already had a 3rd gen track bar... and the extra height didn't help me any. It steers way better stock than levelled.
  6. Or just look at the sway bar. It isn't level and the links are probably trashed.
  7. I like the truck. Any details on the transmission? I see a levelling kit... with that at 2 inches, you need an adjustable track bar. I removed my kit as it was trashing components from the spacer/trackbar driven misalignment.
  8. i think it was transmission valve or throttle valve... It needs to be running, and just check for AC across the positive and negative battery terminals. Those screws are tight... mine are bolts with phillips heads in them, so I could use a small 1/4 drive socket set to get mine off. You are looking for AC, not DC. The AC setting should show a lot smaller than 14v.
  9. I think it is one of those things that you kinda have to learn. I like my auto, but it wasn't cheap to make it reliable. The alternator test should help eliminate that possible issue. After that it is checking grounds and other non stock wiring for interference. If that doesn't fix it... there may be internal issues. The TV cable won't necessarily make it shuttle in and out of lockup, but when you said it doesn't shift at the right speeds it makes me wonder. The TV cable controls line pressure and downshifting/upshifting. If the trans shifts late the cable can be loose, but if it shifts early it can be too tight. However I really would have expected the transmission builder to have caught that... but it doesn't sound like he gave you much useful help.
  10. off the top of my head... from less ghetto to most ghetto get a new boost elbow loctite staking the boost elbow make a burr on the screw, if it was an interference fit pin I would actually knurl it to raise the surface, but I would do something similar carefully with a set of vise grips to raise up the surface of the threads. I've always wondered if I could run a mcmaster carr needle valve in lieu of the boost elbow with some sort of remote in cab adjustment via a cable of some sort.
  11. Oh no you didn't just go there. Ventura? As in Jesse "the mouth that (allegedly) got rekt by SEALs" Ventura? Pray tell, what do you love about that guy, aside from the high level of mulletude? Which, by the way, that level of mulletude needs an IROC-Z camaro.
  12. Ok, I figured, but wasn't sure. Carry ON! I like the fiscal conservatisim that the Pauls are known for... We need to let failures fail, banks, housing, or oil producers. The Paul geopolitcs and policy I don't care for so much as I feel that isolationism hasn't worked in the past and won't work in our shrinking world. The only reason we've had such a stable and peaceful (lacking active global conflict like ww1/2) world since WW2 is our (DIME) diplomatic, information, military and economic influence globally. I am disappointed that the Pauls tend to become sideshows rather than pulling together and actually getting stuff done. Compromise isn't always the best, but unfortunately, that is the way our system has to work. I will give Paul this, I completely respect him for not going third party right now. I do believe he cares about the country and does want whats best, but needs to keep pushing and working with the few good men in Washington D.C. that are honorable rather than becoming a sideline rabble rouser that he is portrayed as. I hope he uses this political capital and finance from his run and makes good use of it. Rubio isn't my first choice either, but when asked specifically his reasons for why he supports things that I don't agree with (wiretaps, some immigration policy) he does have a reasonable non wishy washy answer when asked blunt questions. I don't trust the government, but we have put ourselves in a bad place and I don't think we as a country have the balls to fix it correctly... hence why Rubio is pushing to make the best out of a crappy situation through compromise away from absolutes. (not an endorsement of Rubio) I am not ready to go get a Ted Cruz tattoo or nothin, but I like the guy and I think he has the skill to actually do the difficult job. He has the intelligence, experience, drive, and last but definitely not least a diplomatic/political skill and grace I haven't seen in a conservative candidate in many years. He is a very intelligent constitutional lawyer with an audiographic memory who has successfully argued cases before the supreme court. Plus, when he does work, I find that he pushes for getting the most that he can for the issues that are right, while shining light on the flaws and corruption when possible.
  13. Zinged me for some discussion? I am not trying to start anything, Bill, just some friendly discussion. I haven't even mentioned who I have donated to or am rooting for! Hopefully it didn't come off too negative. I do really agree with you with this line... "I am convinced Trump has not converted to conservative, his roots are too deeply tied to liberal ways and one doesn't just walk away from that no matter how hard he blows." Like this
  14. Dolla dolla bills yall! I don't dislike some of his core financial ideas, but I haven't seen much action... just a lot of holier than thou preaching. However the isolationism Ron preached is not a solution to anything except eventually creating a need for keeping selective service (the draft) registration active. No offense to the paulites, but I am not sold on any of his results. In interesting news, I admire Trey Gowdy a lot. Gowdy endorsed Rubio.
  15. Is your TV cable hooked up? That will affect the shift points. As a starting point at wide open throttle the TV should be at maximum travel.
  16. prac·ti·cal ˈpraktək(ə)l/ adjective 1. of or concerned with the actual doing or use of something rather than with theory and ideas. I will take that as a compliment. Since we are rube goldberging the heck out of this... What about solar panels wired into a charger for the batteries as well?
  17. How about one of those little quiet harbor freight generators for $400? Gas is cheap.
  18. Paul like most of the b and c candidates are only in it for the brand boost and to fund their campaigns/permanent campaign staff. Most of his family is his permanent "staff." It pays to run in the primary.
  19. I run a mechman. The alternators generally have a smaller pulley and some have different windings. The main gain for some of the better alternators is if it has a good rectifier and rectifier plate that conducts heat away from the assembly well. Mechman runs a solid copper plate. I don't know much about the other systems. I also would recommend that you upgrade your charging system ground and lead to the drivers side battery/power junction box. The factory system is kinda small if you are running a lot of power. You don't have to run as heavy as I did, but it could be better. There is an article written for it, if you can't find it let us know. I think there are guys running some other brands as well. Hopefully they chime in.

    Thanks for supporting the site!
  21. Everything you need to know about drill bits, ever.
  22. Good points. I used a bit of ATF and put in there... But on my case, the seal is huge and I don't have a 2.1 or whatever it is socket!
  23. I am not a third gen guy. You can't go wrong with OEM parts if you stick with the owners manual. However, I am not super concerned with the tcase.
  24. I think I used a screwdriver or small pry tool to get it out. Tap the new one in with a hammer. Finding the new one was tough, as there are like 3 different seals according to the parts guy at O'Reilly. Rock Auto failed me on that one.
  25. The transfer case doesn't really matter, but the reason that Dave (and most other trans shops) don't use ATF+4 in their autos is that the ATF+4 is a bit too slippery for the aftermarket race bands. When it comes to transmissions, especially manuals, I would be very careful when comparing fluids that aren't OEM.
