Power Steering Fluid Leak
This sounds like it's the pressure relief valve and spring is what you're talking about and it's not working stuck open. It's used to dump the fluid back in to the PS reservoir and you my be having low working pressure because of it

brake job getting a little bigger
Better to get done all at once and have it be over than to do it part by part because of the over lapping labor.

anyone ever thought about retrofitting tapshifter in place of our autos?
How many things can it control IE: 4th gear lockout and TC lock up.

Will probably be the same for us. There's a place in my RV if you need it with hot running coffee.

engine coolent testing
Here are the pics. The left test strip is new, the next was put into distilled water as a base line, the third one is from the truck 24 hr. ago (the Ph has moved up to 7.5) and the last one on the right is from the Boss's car.

That lock nut bit into that stud and you can see the Loctite on the threads between the stud and nut. I don't think that nut is going anywhere.

engine coolent testing
I normally invoice all my work but I couldn't remember when the last time I'd changed the engine coolant. I came across these coolant test strips for $7.99 and free shipping. Tried them out and seam to work well telling me my coolant is over 60% antifreeze and the Ph is 7.0. It not recommended with red or orange coolants. So spending $8 has saved me over $45 in antifreeze and distilled water and an hour of labor. With 50 to a bottle the average vehicle owner has a life time supply. https://www.amazon.com/Cool-Trak-311519-Coolant-Testing-Strips/dp/B000MIUJMO/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1466743866&sr=1-1&keywords=coolant+test+strips

Reservations for Full Eclipse weekend
I've checked other camp grounds in the path of the eclipse and the ones that take reservations in the National Parks are booked into September right now so next year will be the same. Any reservations would have to be made in December 2016 or January 2017 to guarantee a spot and anyone wanting to join later would be out of luck. If we go to a non-reservation campground there is no guarantee of a place for all who wanted to come. At Catfish we have an idea of what we're going to be dealing with. I have a/c in my 5er and do a lot of camp with no shade in 90°+, so yes shade would be nice but no big deal, give it to those that need it. Having full hookups would be nice even for a couple of days so I can refill my water tank, dump my other tanks and recharge the batteries. After we leave Catfish we're headed for Glacier National Park and then down to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons and will be dry camping along the way. As for the bugs, no matter were you go there they are. Bring your insect repellent and bug zappers.

I agree. The eclipse starts around 9:05 PDT there and The full eclipse lasts about 2' 10". Fining a place with some shade would be nice for camping. Any time you're near a body of water you're going to have bugs but near the end of summer the problem should be diminished.

They're great and taste just like chicken. This is from an online review of Catfish Junction RV park. June 2014: "And the mayflies were horrible. We were unable to spend anytime outside due to the bugs. And we couldn't leave any windows open as they get in thru the screens. 2 days later we are still swatting them in our mh (sic mouth)" Maybe by the end of August the bug problem is not as bad. .

What to lose but some time spent, cost of Loctite®, a nut and stud. The head is already damaged and if this fix holds together for a year or more you're that much ahead. If it brakes then put a used/rebuilt head on.

Thanks for the info but we'll be getting off the 395 at Bishop, CA and boondocking it at the Fallon rest stop where rts 80 & 95 meet. That's 550 mi the first day and pull in to Catfish the next. I also have a 10X10 canopy I can bring. JAG1 wants me to install a torque convertor lock-up switch with relays and light, so I can do that mod while I'm there. I am a licensed mobile vehicle repair shop and will work for coffee. And I've eaten chicken that tasted like 'what is this stuff'!!

Yes, rod and main bearings, nuts on the rockers, bolts on the fly wheel, ect. but cheap insurance, you can never have to much of it.

If you have some 90° needle nose pliers use them to squeeze the threads or if you have a good angle take a punch an tap the threads.

If that nut came off it may not go into a cylinder right away but it could really nick up a valve and seat. When the nut is on all the way do some of the stud threads show? If they do I'd deform them after putting the nut on with the Loctite®. If they don't show I'd run a die down the stud a couple of turns till they did. Just more insurance to help keep that nut from falling off.

Reservations for Full Eclipse weekend
Today I was checking the availability of camp sites at Catfish Junction RV Park on their WEB site for the weekend of 8-18-2017 thru 8-22-2017 and found nothing was available. I'm thinking 'is everyone making reservation this far out'? Well no, I called their office and spoke with an extremely pleasant and helpful woman. She said that they have been having problems with that part of their web site and people should call in so they can get up to the minute info. She took my name and already had my phone number, so with no money down I have my site reserved. She said to "just call and cancel if you can't make it". Catfish Junction RV Park 541-262-3833

I'd file it smooth, get rid of that piece that can stab you and round it off.

Winterization of Trailer Water
A good use for your used engine coolant but don't let the EPA find out.

Fuel pressure problem, again
I put petroleum jelly (Vaseline) on the fitting and in the hose before assembly.

Reverse lighting
This will do the same thing. Pin #9 at the #1 joint connector comes from the reverses light switch. You could also splice into the vt/bk wire and use it as a relay trigger wire for high wattage lamps.
