  1. Good, the original fuel lines are about 1/4 inch i.d. and made of hard plastic. The length near the fuel tank is steel if I remember correctly. It's a great truck and you got a great buy there. My number is in my profile Nate.
  2. I think it is a very good deal. My other truck is a 92 5 spd and has twice that many miles. It is still a daily driver work truck. The big things that had to be done was the clutch at 160k and the trans at 360k. Watch out for weakness in the steering box mounting bracket on the frame. It does crack and one time mine fell apart. I had to find one off of a wreck, have it straightened and reinforced by a certified welder. Before you drive it long ways have someone yank on the wheel back and forth while watching the steering box mount to make sure it's solid. Also the fuel lines should have been replaced by now as they get brittle and hard, start leaking along the frame. Dropping the tank is a good idea because the fuel canister/ module rots off on some that were made of metal not stainless. I repaired mine out of a 4 inch ABS straight coupling. Been good that way for 12 years now. Also put on a new float on the fuel sending unit because the plastic sort of dwindles away in the fuel. I found a way to adapt a copper float off an old antique car. It's a good truck. Had mine 20 yrs now and still strong on same engine. Call me and we can talk some other things to look out for. BTW, I'd never sell mine, love that truck. Never hammerit, just work it when needed and it's been great.
  3. Michael Nelson could narrow this down for you. You could also call Source Automotive since they have exhaustive experience. No pun intended. Talk to Rip @503 654 9009. They will know what to look for.
  4. Could the turbo charger oil to the bearings be leaking into the exhaust? How many mile on it?
  5. I only know a couple things about them, that a friend of mine bought one twice for his wife. In a head one collision the VW guy survived but the Honda mini van was gone from the rear seat forward. Like the whole front engine and front seat just disappeared.
  6. I like that you mentioned this. I was in a 20 degree cold spell when I would start up and get dead pedal. Happened twice in those cold mornings till I got saved by the Timbo APPS. I also read about strange error codes occurring with the lift pump powered off the ECM. The lift pump was going out and put a lot of power demand on the ECM causing random error codes. Guy got lucky when he thought about the lift pump playing havoc on the diagnostics of the truck.
  7. I wish they could stop the mud slingin' and stay pertinent to the issues facing America, We need total reform. Seems like all they are interested in is to keep the country divided. .
  8. Her overflow valve would be steamin' if you did Katoom I found out you can also use ceramic glass. Like that for a woodstove. The nice thing about it is that it can be easily cut to size even after it has been ceramisized. New word I guess
  9. that's not a mouse, that's a Katooms overflow valve that fell off for yelling at me the other day.
  10. We have that on our new to us 2010 Subaru Outback too. Can be up to a year and a half as some of my clients have told me. Wish we can have a recall on the air bags in Washington. I think you and I get more work done in a day that Washington accomplishes in a year.
  11. You know your pretty lucky if the guy working on your truck has all the experience. Luckier still if he if has no signs of the grey haired forgetfulness. But when that young guy who worked on your truck just a few years ago is growing 'wisdom hair" I know I'm getting old.
  12. Thanks all will try that. Yes surprisingly she does know quite a lot about using the oven. She can make things so awesome as long as company is coming or its a holiday . Other days, is like.... hum lets see what I can find for myself.. It's cool cause she works most days.
  13. Yeah I have to go meet him again at another place real soon cause its beautiful there. Like this
  14. My wifes oven door inner glass broke so now I have it apart and ready to order a new piece of 1/8th inch glass. Does anyone know if it's better to order the glass tempered? The old piece was not tempered, but, is there any special glass or something for ovens? T.I.A.
  15. Just want to add that I bought my 02 with manufacture date of October of 2002 some of the last of the second gens and the Ball Joints and tie rods only lasted for 64,000 miles. My first gen, I know has different design but didn't need anything up front till after 300 K. I think you are right Dave about quality changing.
  16. Nice pics thanks IBM. I'll be going there someday too.
  17. Katoom, what do I know anyway . My overflow always works when drinking beer I think Gus needs to revamp his entire fuel system. Without a F/P gauge I wonder if he's still running banjo bolts, no 3/8ths or 1/2'' inch lines, clogged screens in the tank. no prefilter before the lift pump, could be a lot of things that need revamping before the possibility of ruining another VP if that's what is found to be wrong. All I know is Dodge engineers screwed the fuel system in these trucks. And their solution at the dealers is to place an inside the tank fuel pump that makes it worse.
  18. When I first bought my truck I wouldn't even drive it till I got a fuel pressure gauge. Just too much risk/ expense to go without. When you first bump the starter, truck not running, the lift pump should be running for about 25 seconds after bumped. This is an advantage cause when not running it quiet enough to hear if lift pump is working. Air in lines and also not fully priming can cause a short rough engine run and then die, but, you say it runs for a full minute? Stay away from the dealers but a couple things possible: Air leaking into lines Bad overflow valve on the vp44 Tank vent causing vacuum in the tank from clogged anti roll over valve on tank top. Just remove the cap while running. Or remove fuel cap slowly after running to see if you hear tank vacuum. This problem is rare but happens. Old intank lift pump left inside the tank. Quick connect fuel lines leaking air. You got to get this truck home and talk with Eric at Vulcan performance. He's sharp and his prices are spot on good.
  19. Are you cracking a couple injectors loose to reprime?
  20. I haul a 3000 lb slide in camper. My fluid was nice and red, the way your supposed keep it but on a hot summer day I took a road so steep I had no idea they still paved 'em like that. Went for about 12 miles. I saw my temps shoot up quickly to over 180. That must be close to burning the fluid cause when I got back it was brown in the pan when serviced, yet it but looked more red on the dipstick. I was surprised fluid had burned just from those temps. I was at a 25,000 mark for miles and service.
  21. Yes and those spare tire winches go bad too. One guy saw his spare passing him on the shoulder from a rusted tire winch. That is why mine is chained up with a chain binder.
  22. I have the Mag Hytech deep dish pan on mine. Holds extra 4 qts. I believe. It is aluminum with cooling fins which helps telegraph the heat away a little.
  23. Pretty dog gone rare to get them back. That's too cool. I am glad you got it as I had a MG midget I had worked on for a long time when young. Motor was pumped . But a guy totaled it, was his fault and I never got it back. I still dream about it in my sleep. Miss that car terribly and still, after 40 yrs it exists only in my dreams. Check for error codes before you finalize the insurance adjustment Tyler.
  24. What happened IBM , did you have an extra piston layin' over by the coffee pot when it was all done
