  1. You could probably buy the whole town for one dollar! Very interesting.
  2. Should fire right up. Even my 435,000 mile 12 valve and 88,000 mile 24 valve fire right off without pressing the pedal. I would check in tank screens make the system free flowing unless going thru filter of course. I did have a clogged tank vent once on the 12 valve. Every once in awhile you need to tape small tuning to a shop vac and suck out the bottom of the bowl on the factory filter. Crap piles up on the bottom there under the filter cartridge.
  3. Michael Nelson, first thing he does in the morning is put on his engine stethoscope around his neck I think IBM has one too
  4. I like the water hose idea much better...
  5. This false as Mike does not have 'grey' water he has 'grease' water when he dumps. Not the kitchen grease... engine grease
  6. I had an old guy... a very good engine rebuilder show how to use a sawed off broom stuck for an engine stethoscope. Having it about 2-3 ft. long you squeeze with your fist on the end and with your thumb knuckle curled, like a fist, into your ear. Then proceed to place other end on various parts of the engine while running. You will be able to pinpoint many sounds never heard before but please be careful not to go near the belt or fan. That stick can do you some damage. You have to be very very very carful doing this. Did I say careful????? BTW, my old first gen has had a knock for about 15 years and still holds good power and no smoke. approaching 450k miles still original. That knock on mine you can hear when down by the front wheel but, elsewhere it is gone. As long as she continues to fire up and go I'm happy with the old girl.
  7. I don't think it is the relay because he does say it works flawlessly after start up and running down the road. Unless there is a poor connection having to do with the 2-3 second lift pump activation side of it.
  8. I like the switch idea instead of getting into a rebuilt ECM that can be a real headache getting a reliable one. A momentary switch you push at start up and then goes off after you let off would be a good way to maintain the safety feature. If you ever get into a wreck the L/P will still shut down like it is supposed to by the ECM..
  9. Mileage going down can indicate the VP44 is wearing. The best place for an injection pump is from Eric at Vulcan Performance. He makes sure they are rebuilt by people that get it right with the new upgraded timing piston sleeve and new computer on top. That is where I bought mine and I'm picky about avoiding good deals that can turn out bad.. Most important list of things prior to getting the new pump; Need fuel pressure gauge Lift pump that can handle your towing load going up the hills and hold fuel pressure above 14p.s.i Vulcan performance big line kit will help you there too And putting 2 cycle oil, one qt every tank, in the fuel to bring lubricity levels to the VP44 design level. Remember the VP44 was designed for the old diesel fuel before ULSD. The new fuel tests show that it causes premature wear with a higher scoring value, so the 2 stroke oil is good each tank. Sorry about 'the list' above, I did not read your signature till just now.
  10. I had to drive thru snow every day last winter and was getting stuck too often, so to save money I went to Les Schwab, I know.... I swore to never go there again.... but, I just had to get on my way so I bought their house brand Mud and Snow (the ones that are a step down from the most aggressive) and they are wearing fine and did very well in the snow too. Paid $750- 850 ish for the stock sized load range E.
  11. Good discussion about insurance and tires. For awhile there were some very bad trailer tires being posted/talked about on the rv forums. They were a brand made in China called CARLILE or CARLISLE. I was shocked when 150 miles from home I noticed they were on the trailer I was towing. On the side walls it said,' do not exceed 55 M.P.H. I was amazed. I slowed down and made it home just fine.
  12. So since Air Dog went to their own return flow from the pump and I want to stay with an electric pump, is Fass the best option at this time for elect lift pumps?
  13. Best thing is to get at least a twin axle trailer so when you hit a pot hole it doesn't throw the insides so bad. Plus gives you a chance to get to a safe spot before ruining a flat tire. Make sure to check all the drawers and fridge doors are latched/ locked before traveling. Believe me I found the hard way and ruined a tv once. Also close vents because the wind will break them apart. Even though I double check everything before leaving I still make mistakes so I've always found it best to sit down for a cup of coffee before leaving. That way I never have forgotten anything too major.
  14. We rented two times before we bought our camper. It took a bit of time to bring it home and outfit everything but we had three daughters too. At the end of the trip had to do everything in reverse. Makes a lot of sense to everything packed and ready in big Tupperware bins then leave from the rental yard instead.
  15. I don't like ABS brakes. Any proper way to disable them?
  16. I worry about doing this myself because someone posted on here about breaking the bolt head on theirs. It was awhile back that it happened.
  17. Nice pic Buzzin. Water is clear. Is that your son?
  18. Is that just a Bolt down and sit fit? How do you know that will work?
  19. How much for them? Nick you might try some different chicken feed with vitamins in it. I don't really know that much about them. Our Zucinni and squash are developing well. Pole beans are starting to really take off and the plum tree has more fruit on it than I've ever seen. For some reason my carrots are not doing well. Do they need very light soil?
  20. I went to 1/2'' lines with the same stock carter lift pump installed down on the frame and it made a big difference. It made me very happy to have met Eric at Vulcan as it was an amazing change for the better. Boss Hogg, Do they make you run the ULSD like here in the states?
  21. My truck needs those upgraded transmission pressure lines.
  22. That is a nice looking retaining wall in the background. Someone put lots of work and artistic ability into one like that. Are you going to put it back in shape?
  23. Yes, October I have a long way to go in order to make up for what IBM did. We ate better than anyone for sure.
  24. Nice to see that happening. Thanks.
  25. Yep, these guys on here told me to use a lower pressure tip and what do you know..... soap was all over the place Thanks for the sound effects CSM, I had to pronounce each letter to make sure I understand and got it right
