  1. I am a carpenter too so naturally some of my retirement investment is in the home I built. Always better to invest in yourself as it were. This healthcare tax is going to take a substantial amount away from my wife and I.
  2. If this is true I can more readily believe the 3 or 3.5 % tax. Still on an average priced home it amounts to more than enough money going out. It should state that no more health care taxes will be due till the 3.5 % is used up as if paying the normal tax. Otherwise it's like stealing if you still have to pay the yearly tax. :spend:What's next.... our trucks unless we sell a prius
  3. What is procelain? Never heard that before.
  4. Should we all start stocking up right now, even out here in the west?
  5. I am serious if it is true.... It was sent to me by email, a supposed exact copy of one the pages of the bill, I refused to believe it myself. It said you will owe it even if you have zero equity in the home.

I know what you mean, something more akin to a natural back to the land uncrowded life style.

What did you do Mike that you had to escape so far from LA? Too many girlfriends something like that?Anyhow welcome to the Forum. What part of Cali is everyone else from. I left Monterey in the late 70's.
  8. As in common cents? .....Ain't nothin' common about the cost of anything now a days but, healthcare services??....Are the worst...... act like it is beneath their integrity to ask for a price before getting any of their service. Act like this...:nono: Personally, I don't like the 7 percent tax on when you sell your house to go to Obama care. It matters not if you have any equity too.... you still have to pay the 7%. That makes me sick right there:sick:
  9. This is not good..... I have been praying for you guys.
  10. Drill it ten feet deeper than normal for a new well. That will allow for drought prop off.
  11. If it's free medical care for the poor won't that encourage more illegals across our borders?
  12. I went to Freuhuaf (sp.) trucking and got my 1 1/2'' wide ones. Had them for over ten years now and use them on my flatbed 92 ctd. I paid 14 bucks each for them back then and they are the best you can get.
  13. I go to a chevron distributer and buy 2 stroke in a case of 24 in the 1 quart bottles. I always dump in a full quart at each fill. Never count just dump it in.
  14. Did you guys see the special report on how far they can now look into space with the new telescope? It's incredible! They looked into an area that looks like dark sky, like nothing there, when they focused beyond any distance seen before numerious galaxies appeared. So it just keeps going.... cruising...
  15. This gives me an idea for the tailgaters.... anyway to make a marshmellow & chocolate shooter out the exhaust?
  16. We are asked only to believe, having faith, not convinced by science or logic. Faith is an act of love and trust. I believe God designed the universe in the way that no scientific proof exists either way. It's been tried many times.Rejecting belief simply because a miracle did not happen or a problem did not disappear is not Faith. It is believing in spite of our personal doubt, our faults, our failures and shortcomings. Also never give way to doubt or failure if you do wrong. Just forgive others as you yourself would be forgiven. I have seen his works in my life with many recent unexplainable occurances and I continue to trust Him for the rest.Just my
  17. Out on the farms I've worked on occasionally, we have needed some custom bends in our plastic PVC conduit. We found that about 10-12 slow turns of the pipe at the hot exhaust will not burn and make it soft enough to bend. Saves buying a 200 dollar conduit heat bender anyhow.Tip.... if you see the pvc turn color like it's burning, you need to turn it a bit faster
  18. Mopar Mikey may have hit on something....... because what if not only the high heat but drastic sudden temperature changes. After all, they are talking crystallization of the solder.
  19. Check see if you got oil under your place... I think times are a changin' for the better. Not sure but seems like it
  20. Interesting...... Now need a blower to the PCM
  21. I give a very high value to what everyone is saying here. It's real and not a bunch of Television stories. I want my son in law to read this thread. He's a 30 year old body builder, staying with us till they get back on their feet. I spent some time finding out who's hiring entry level jobs in the oil fields, provides transportation and a place to stay . I came to find out, about a week has past, that he has not applied yet. Now that really bugs me. In my day I would have dropped everything else in order to get through to that company.
  22. Business is a tough environment today. We are paying 7500 bucks just for permits and engineering in order to put up one new building in a business park. You would not believe the litany of issues and mouse maze of obstacles, just plain ridiculous hoops that must jump thru to get a building permit. Here is the amazing thing of it too......... on both sides of us there are 4 brand new buildings all completed, 3 for sale and one for lease. All are empty, almost like a ghost town around there.I do think these kids need to think about starting their own business. I'm sure it's harder now but, need to at least think more that direction.
  23. What's your thoughts? Why are they so stuck on finding a job? Why can't they start a business of their own in their field? I found it hard to deal with a boss and started my own in 81. It seems the money is where the work is and a lot of the college grads think too much in terms of getting a cushy office job. Why don't they think in terms of doing things that require a little more physical labor? Seems like all the people I know that are willing to work are doing well and they started out small in business and worked their reputation/ quality up the scales.I get hard hard jobs from time to time but, find that folks are willing to compensate me more for doing them. In fact, I can make some good money doing the things no one else is willing to do. The bigger the challenge the more I can make.Anyhow, one last thought..... there is real labor everywhere in this world... is it just that government controls make it too hard to start a business now a days?
  24. I have the very first prototype drawstraw ever built by Vulcan performance. Eric said while we were putting it in that I cut it too short. That's okay I said:thumbup2: lets put it in anyhow. I never worried about running out of fuel till I really wanted to find out someday, how far she would go. Well I did finally...... and found about ten miles beyond the low fuel light comes on is all she would go. That was at diesel fuel pump hunting speeds. So it's not bad having a fuel cup overflowing with cooler fuel. I like my set up and when my origonal vp gets up the to the 500 k mark we'll know..... I doubt it but hoping anyway.
