  1. I ducted a blower to the top of my VP. I only turn the blower on when running a bit hotter from hauling a load or long steep grades, hot summer days, those sort of conditions. But, I do like the duct being able to push cool air from the front up to the top of the VP without the blower turned on. It helps a little, I suppose, but mostly for a worrisome guy like me .I have to say too if you think about doing this.... It's a good to use some heavy gauge aluminum duct instead of the regular flexible stuff cause it corrodes and starts cracking. It's a little too thin for an outdoor application.
  2. Can anyone tell me if it is bad for the air conditioning to shut down the Cummins when the A/C is still on?If so, why?Does anyone know why my 93 CTD would be getting better mileage at around 365,000 miles than before?I used to get only 465 miles average down to a quarter tank. Recently I'm getting around 535 miles when down to a quarter tank. Is it just broken in?T.I.A.
  3. My wife just told me that when your already on the freeway, it is against the law to not let others merge when they need to So if something happened, the people ridin' like a retaining wall bumper to bumper to keep you out would be at fault.
  4. Yep, I'm always up to the speed and flow of the traffic I'm merging into. Like I said.... I'm not the one who installs the invisible stop sign at the end of the freeway on ramp .I do like the idea the idea of acting slow and then letting out the 400 horses That's cool, but my work truck is loaded down and is the old 12 valver. Love that 21 year old truck .
  5. "Move to a smaller town":thumbup2:......... I'm looking everyday in the real state sites in an around LaPine, Oregon.Tell Me.... I can do without the constant cold rain here on the 'wet' side, But........ How do you like all the cold and snow:think: ?? Yeah a plow, snow blower, or a bobcat.:thumbup2:Doesen't that get old? I guess it's Just like anything...... If you don't live in the tropics you just get used to it.
  6. I had a chance today to see what it is like when all the tail gators try crowding you out of merging onto the freeway. Close to having only the emergency lane ahead, no one would let me in. So the car that was along side even started crowding closer to the car in front to keep me out. I'm going close to the same speed so it's not like I'm the guy that puts up the invisible stop signs to a freeway entrance, like some mergers do.What Do You Guys Do ?I proceeded to very slowly crowd out this lady a little behind me, somewhat along side. You know, it was the rudest one of the bunch. Anyhow She finally backed off, I guess only worried about her shiny new car, It felt right though, when I left ample amount of room in front of me. I could tell she loved it so much that she gave me the sign for the ornithological society. I just waved............What would you guys do? Drivers are getting aggressive and nasty out there around Portland, Oregon.BTW, I let people in when they need to. I even feel good about doing a little good will.
  7. Thanks for the great way of explaining it. Be nice if this information could be a sticky. I know nothing about the automatic trans but I'll be due for a proper build in a few years.
  8. I needed a grab bar to help me jump down from the back door of our camper. It had machine thread studs. One on ea. end of the bar. The studs were too short so I just drilled the holes to fit snug to the fiberglass body and squirt about a fourth of a tube of Vulkem in ea. hole. Lots of caulking pressure squeezed in there using the tip. Next I stuck the grab studs in their holes and left it undisturbed for a month in warm weather. Been there for about 10 years now and use it all the time.I think it would be better to use a big glob of epoxy squirt in the holes instead. The builders supplies have epoxy in the big tubes for a caulking gun. You could let it set up before tapping for the wood screws rather than what I did, just sticking it into wet caulking.
  9. Glad your okay........Summer is near so go out and have a great time
  10. I have that same problem in another spot. It seems those retainer clips break too easy. Can you get some zip strips all the way around to tie it on that way?I'm looking for ideas to solve this too. I got a bad one on my 1st get ignition switch, afraid it will fall off and shut down the engine in traffic.
  11. Mike, a little off topic........... What about when you decide to put on an external voltage regulator and then take the wire normally going from the Alternator to the PCM and hook it directly to the batteries? Would that keep the limp mode and error codes out of the Equation? I just don't like Dodges VR, I'd rather have an external one, easy to replace, of good quality. TIA I think you are on target with the bad diodes causing the gear hunting. Still, I wonder about Dodges way of putting the VR inside the PCM. I don't like that design.
  12. Looks like just the place for a 'MoParty'
  13. It can be a bit of work to put in your own rv dump but, now that I have one, I would never go without . It makes it very convenient to dump at home and some rv dumps are very gross
  14. I had one put on my work truck years ago. Back then I heard sometimes the clamps will move or spin a little on the axle tube. So the shop that installed them put just a small spot weld to the clamps and axle tube. Worked so far very well.
  15. I had the same thing happen on my 02. Just 5.5 years ago the dealer charged me $48.00. Wow inflation is now doubling every 5 years. Sheesh:spend:
  16. Yep, I agree now... shows how little I know about this. Just think how much work I have gone thru in my lifetime trying to solve problems and end up only shooting in the dark. Many times.
  17. Forgive me I am wrong, not trying to stir the pot, but, I think one of the reasons for the trans hunting is because the voltage regulator is built inside the PCM and VRs put out a ton of RFI noise.Still want to get an external VR installed someday.
  18. I hope I'm not hyjacking this thread but my torque converter locks up so hard when I stop the struck and do a restart, as soon as I put it in gear it stops the engine. I have to roll downhill in neutral before placing in gear and then the trucks goes just fine. What could cause this? Too high of fluid pressure or level? Please delete this post if it's a hyjack..... I know very little about auto transmissions. Thank you
  19. I know prayer works.... Clients are offering to me better deals and situations than I would ever ask for in the past:thumb1: I'm not perfect by a long shot, not afraid to admit it. I do believe in Him and can see a difference while not ever giving up on faith. Folks giveup too easily, imperfections get in the way and drop out.... not me and you can do the same
  20. I've been following this thread before I drove on a trip up to the mountains. I was very surprised when my truck did the very same thing. I was miles from any town. I freaked and though I was stuck. It would not stop stalling the moment It went in gear, acting just like your trouble.I was parked on a hill so I restarted the truck for the third time but, let her roll backwards a little before putting it in reverse. This time she did not stall and after backing up I stopped with my foot on the brake and put it in drive. This time she did not stall either, even with a dead stop, brake on. This happened another time on the trip but let her roll and it went okay as before. It acts like the torque converter is locked up in idle and it makes the engine stall. Instead of the needed TC slippage you need to click into gear. It's like you have a automatic clutch that won't disengagev when it's supposed to. That's what it felt like to me. like the clutches get stuck together and won't slip like till you break it loose.Don't know if I have helped but, my truck is all stock, about 70k miles on it and it has not done it since for a few days now.
  21. The 1400 bucks included 4 new greasable tie rod ends also and an alignment too but still the money is gone now.
  22. No Dripley, it's only the Chinese made Spicer brand you got to watch out for. The Canadian made Spicers are good. Moog was real good according to many posts and only recently reduced their quality. I can only speak from what the consensus is from reading many posts on different forums on the subject of BJ's. At least save on all that reading I guess.
  23. I own a small construction company. While I have been very lucky, guys have gone broke around me. I pray and let the boss upstairs run the Biz. He's much better at it than I ever was.
  24. I just paid $1400 to get mine done. Just so you'll get motorvated to work at doing it yourself and save that money. I suggest getting the greasables since mine were dry and rusty at only 65k miles. I am hearing from several other sources to avoid the Moog brand:stirthepot: and get the Spicer brand the ones made in Canada not the ones made in China. It will say on the box.
  25. Anything different happen if you push the button on the end of the gear shifter? You know, put in underdrive? If you can get the truck rolling in first gear..... what happens when you drop it down to drive after rolling?
