  1. Yep, target practice time! That sofa ain't no good with a pair of these!
  2. I have a reversable oil pump and suction tube left from my old boating days. Thanks IBMobile for the idea as it will save having to redo the gasket ea. time. I also used the Dino oil with limited slip additive but, had to add another 4 oz. to stop the chatter in when turning.
  3. IBMmobile's wife wishes he didn't have so many miles and was a well oiled machine.
  4. I don't think they want normal, but I do know by shopping around you can find few stores really taking advantage of people with this political pandemic. UH OH, now me in trouble........
  5. I'm so glad I changed mine on the 02 hundred thousand mile truck. The rear had obvious oil break down as it did not feel right when rubbed between your fingers, felt like it had less lubricity and a pool of very fine grindings in the very bottom when running your finger down there. I cleaned all that out and used Dino 90wt. On the long trips that truck runs, making it easier to note any improvement, I noticed an improvement in mileage when I got back. I did the front also before leaving, wasn't as bad.
  6. I'm seeing some prices in the discount stores higher than elsewhere.
  7. Mike, my unit bearings were both bad and both wheels were still tight! You couldn't tell they were bad. I know this Boss cause I suspected something wasn't right..... kept jacking up the front and always found wheels were tight, no movement at all. It wasn't until I got the wheels and rotors off for a brake job I found both were bad by spinning the hub with my hand. A lot of guys do not want the job of replacing those bearings. They can be tough but, after doing mine on both my trucks I learned a few tricks. One is you must first love a good challenge , avoiding Dieselfuture's cooler, resolve to get them off no matter how much difficulty. Getting all 4 bolts out, use a grinder with a cutting wheel and cut thru the lobe where the bolts went thru, cutting about an 1/8th or 3/16ths away from the mounting surface allows you to get a steel wedge to go in between the bearing and the mounting surface. The steel wedge (chisels in my case) then stayed without holding them, with your hand now out of the way, you can start giving it a good hit with a small double jack. After you see it just start to come loose you know your getting it. On a bad one, you have to cut/ grind the opposite lobe and drive a wedge chisel there again. keep doing it and eventually you'll see a small hairline start to open and it will come off. Hope this helps.
  8. Honey, won't you please let me get the new twin engine Cessna? That 70 miles one way is getting to be too much
  9. The only way to really tell if you have bad wheel bearings, before they completely fail possibly throwing the truck off the road right or left, is to remove the wheel & rotor and turn the hub by hand. Your hand will be able to tell the smoothness in a good bearing or feel vibration or drag in the bearing going bad. That is the only way to tell and should be checked whenever possible.
  10. Dad is Lucky Man to have a son like you
  11. Dieselfuture has to practice too because of Beer.
  12. At 69 I find myself doing a lot of little mistakes like that. The time to worry is when you can no longer remember to double check what you order or what you've done. I got to hand it to you Dripley though, practice makes perfect, being the best way of looking at it..... it's all part of doing the job. And yes, be very glad you didn't bring it to the place I brought mine for a Red Head Geer..... I had to undo their work and redo it. Holbrook Specialties used to be really good but new owners are not the same.
  13. Oh well....Maybe Grainger sells a gear hosing that can get it from verticle to Horizontal . Anytime you build custom it generally takes a lot of time and enginuity sp.. Whenever MoparMan runs into something like this he goes smokes that funny tobacco for a solution to suddenly arise. Usually on the sofa when something like that occurs. Happy Easter all you people out there, remember Jesus was resurrected on this day and remember how much he suffered for us. He stayed alive longer to make sure he loved us in in full and then some.
  14. Snows probably over, did you get it rigged up anyhow?
  15. Very well written covering all aspects. Nice article!
  16. My truck got a redhead steering gear and the numb nuts doing the work put ATF in there on an 01 . Did not jack it up and didn't undo the low pressure line to bleed. He started up the truck and went lock to lock about 40 times. I heard this going on and went out of the waiting area to check on it. Poor steering pump was so hot and the red ATF foamed like limp whip cream. All this guy cared about was getting my money. I told got him to stop. This guy and the shop manager did not care, they were just a couple hosers and did nt care if they hurt the system. I am going to Write a review soon. After 38 yrs of going there........ Holbrook Specialties used to be the very best. Not anymore. I feel sorry for hard working people that know nothing and are getting hosed by a lot of these shops using the allotment times and the mechanic taking every possible shortcut.
  17. At 69 I have decided it's time to act more responsibly IBMobile is also teaching me how to be a gentleman
  18. yes I hope Eric has one for you, he is a great guy, met him several times buying injectors and lift pump/ big line kits for my two 'investment grade' second gen Cummins . They are great trucks just purr like my kitten only they do all the work and don't lay around all day.
  19. Geno's Garage has one vulcan fuel basket left for 219.99 if you hurry you might get it.
  20. That's right 'Zip Ties'. Thank you Wil.
  21. When the retaining clip tab breaks off that locks the electrical connector, just use zip strips going between the wires around the connector and the small tower the connector goes too. For added insurance I add a second zip strip that ties to the oem fuel supply tower. Don't go to tight just no slack is all. I also do the pull test on zip strips.... If I can break them by hand they don't get used for holding things together. Okay for wiring though, I try to find the good expensive ones.
  22. So two or three beers can do that?
  23. So you are using belly fat to make it like a machine gun? Is that illegal. BTW you guys went and saw some nice compacts in 9mm today. You get up in the 750 dollar range has some nice features. That's expensive esp. around tax season. I was impressed with a Sig Sauer 9mm compact. It was nice. I don't think I need a Kimber with aluminum frame even tho I love the size and the looks as it seems too light like you have to deal with more kick back. A bit more weight is a plus.
  24. I do trust you.... I been looking at a lot of pistols so the point looks better now, kind of like the horn on the grip of a 9mm.
  25. Looked it up on You Tube. Amazing pistol for 315 bucks and just the right size too! I'm at a point I should just go look and see what's out there since I now know the features I want. Good coffee this morn.... thanks to you all with the help and advice
