Battery Temp Sensor question
I'm trying to find out why two alternators shorted out within 4 months, I tested the grid heater relays today. they both click when I put voltage thru the trigger wires using a 9 volt battery and some jumpers. The click isn't as loud and definite as my first gen was also testing with the Ohm meter when they are 'off', not activated, the meter shows around 3.5 ohms on both relays. I am confused here because when off they should be showing infinite ohms resistance, right? could both be bad relays? Further testing tomorrow using 12 volts but disconnected from the grid heaters will allow use of the voltmeter when activated. I will report back. Also it looks like the ohm meter is showing both previous alternators to be shorted out as well because they show around 3.5 ohms resisteance as well between the frame and the b+ charge cable stud. Any thoughts are appreciated

Battery Temp Sensor question
Yes, that is what I'm saying LorenS, that the battery temp sensor didn't pick up on the heat, should have been able to signal the PCM telling the alternator to back off, not burn itself out. That's why W-T says to run the B+ wire to the battery that has the sensor.... Mopar Man says no..... W-T says to do it. What's sensor for if it cannot send a message to limit output ? I got the copper the lugs today for this change.

Morning Pic For Today...........Post A Pic around your place.....
One fire coming our direction was put out 7 miles away while it was heading into the same timber land we border. Another just 3 miles, was arson and put out quickly. I never saw in 43 yrs the amount of dry tinder everywhere. As we drove out you could see leaves on the underbrush just curling, drying up from the hot dry winds. The next day signs everywhere saying looters and arsonists will be shot. Neighbors calling making plans to band together to get these bad guys. None of the plans involved calling 911 as police/ everybody was already beyond what they could handle. It's good to have neighbors you can trust.

Yes it was, then adding to the problem was the looters coming in together with arsonists in which only 4 were caught in our county. I disobeyed the evac order and went home to guard our place and others. I loaded up the guns and was closed up in one room with hepa filter, ready with the truck facing out and keys in the ignition. I made it look like no one was home with both other vehicles gone and all quiet.

Battery Temp Sensor question
Then why did I have a shorted passenger battery telling the alternator to hammer it with everything the alternator has got, eventually toasting the alternator? The temp sensor should have told the charge to slow down or go into reduced amperage. It was my fault not changing batteries after the short was found in the passenger battery. You know....... as long as it starts.... what the heck get all you can out of these old batteries, That was wrong for me to do that. This for Michael Nelson......

Just looking at tree rings this morning on my firewood, I noticed a change in climate every 11-13 years. Rings all the same characteristics, color, distance apart for 11-13 years and then a noticeable change to different ring types all the same for another 11-13 years. I'm hoping these fire seasons stop soon. We have forest land and last year had to evacuate with burning leaves floating across in 45 mph gusts. It was scary on the phone with the insurance company getting ready to evacuate with fires all around and almost uncontrollable conditions.

Battery Temp Sensor question
I asked this question to W-T on the Telephone. He says to do the added parallel wires is best and as for the temp sensor you can run the B+ charging wire from the alternator to the drivers side battery where the sensor is. Routing is important not to get in the same run or close to other wires. RF noise interference something playing havoc with sensors and electronics. I'm going to reroute to the drivers battery with heavier cable since it's a longer run to the drivers battery using Marine tinned and braided wire. I think I have number 6 wire already in the shop for this.

Injector questions, which vendors?
I looked on their website for my injectors and they are pricey for sure. There must be some word out there among mechanics on why they are the best, because it says nothing about why theirs are better.

Interesting how other areas can differ. Like where I like to stop overnight there are so many Cougar you have to be careful about hiking anywhere and bears are very rare to see there.

Yes and by quenching our voice and freedom of speech is thereby running a direction of a corrupt government. Especially when they don't issue an immediate directive for Facebook and Twitter to allow both sides to have their say. I am afraid we are on....... what shall we say............. times spoken of in the good book?

Hey.... Just Morning Coffee and Wired Up Chat........
So no major fear of Obama 2008 style drop in the economy then.......just certain sectors to watch with nothing drastic except for Tech stocks possibly falling off because of their manipulation of information and exclusion of those they don't agree with. Tech defense is something to watch..... thank you for that. It's interesting as we have a restricted economy due to recover as Covid loses its hold and at the same time huge growing debt which is negated by sheer growing numbers of future workers paying taxes. I do not like the degree to which the Democrats seemingly enjoy their anti Trump policies and executive orders. They should be more democratic and less Disingenuous by considering the other half of the voters in their policy changes. Without policy in moderation there can be no leadership, I'm afraid they are inciting Trump supporters to pull in the ranes on the economy. I am afraid Biden will, in the end, reveal a full fledged lack of leadership ruled by a degree of hate for the other half of the voters. I worry he is planting the seeds for a big overturn in the economy. JMHO

Speaking of which...... It seems to me Biden's policies are going to send us into an economic tailspin. Are you and your colleagues taking any defensive moves in the market? Appreciate any and all opinions. BTW, almost 70 now so my money is every bit important. Thank you all for this great thread too.

Be careful out there Mike. Remember no impulsive moves. I say that because when your age I forgot that principle now and then. It's right in between youth and beginning to be old you got to learn to watch yourself.

Lithium Batteries for the RV, Good or Not so Good?
My RV charger will automatically recharge the batteries every 30 days or so depending on resting voltage. RV does sit mostly during cold months. Also if I unplug the shore power cord and then when reconnected it will recharge the batteries. If I use a small probe I can push and hold a recessed button for 5 seconds and it goes into equalize mode for boiling off the sulfates. I think it goes to around 15.5 volts during that phase. I really like that charger made by Xantrax and is one of the good older versions. Only problem Is one of the two paralleled batteries doesn't lose as much electrolyte as the other battery which could mean factory wiring is not so good. It's amazing how it's so important to the factory that they convince you, that you never want buy another new RV.. What a f.o.r.d. it was when new. 17 years later..... still finding shortcut workmanshipt. Spelled correct here.

I'm very glad to hear California is getting some weather down there. It's been 6 mos. I hear since they've had rain and now a switch has been pulled. I hope it snows on IBMobile too he deserves it. He has more firewood than a mountain man in Alaska and no snow, no cold, no rain. That's all about to change.
