another problem with the truck
I think what happens when inadequate fueling is the VP cavitates and may cause harm to internals. I hope your okay on yours.

another problem with the truck
When my truck had only around 35,000 miles, it did this once exactly as you describe. Knowing about weak factory lift pumps and seeing fuel pressure had gone down from normal, I pulled over and changed it within about 8 miles at a friends house. I had another factory lift pump with me for back up. In those days I thought having the Big line kit with the factory lift pump on the frame was enough to make everything okay. Today both trucks have big lines, big Draw straw, and Raptor 150's with a pre filter in front of the lift pump.

W-T ground mod
W-T's write up on this subject got lost and is no longer available. Know one seems to know how some very important information that helped so many just up an vanished, but W-T isn't happy as it took a lot of hours and work to write those i.e. the grounding mods that reduce AC ripple and reducing additional AC noise from aftermarket lift pumps. Unfortunately, because of this loss W-T no longer wants to participate in our forums. A recent conversation with W-T revealed that in order to properly balance both batteries, he wants to see two negative cables and one more positive cable added between the batteries. It was my mistake to say you only need to add one negative parallel cable. IF ANYONE HAPPENED TO MAKE COPIES OF W-T's WRITE UPS PLEASE LET ME KNOW.... Thank You.

Junior's truck needs work... a lot of work :-(
I wonder if the front puke bottle is overflowing? Mine looked like a big glop of grease (black lookin pancake batter ooze) was plopped in the engine bay instead of a Cummins engine. I did the puke bottle modification to get rid of it, Cleaned up the engine real real good. At 218k miles no leaks after having to retorque the pan bolts to spec. Truck is perfect now. I would find it hard to believe that many gaskets are blown on a Cummins. Its got to be the puke bottle is the culprit or the offender in this case.

Gonna be a daddy again
Dripley still can't get rid of them even on the jobsite.

Dripley, so do you say your current job is in 'Big Drumstick' instead of Atlanta?

That's what happens when you don't look under the hood for nearly nine months

Junior's truck needs work... a lot of work :-(
It may be the shop is doing a major CYA. Getting the full list up on the chaulk board. It's okay as long as he is honest enough to say when they find this or that item didn't need doing. I say this because I find hard to believe that much work needs doing and believe oil has migrated to areas that don't need new gaskets at all. How many miles on the truck? last thought is that it has been my experience that the more you learn to do yourself, the better off you will be not having to do it again unless its at an exceptionally good shop.

Northwest Bombers
He always say that and then when your turn your back on the desserts.... they be gone in two seconds.

Hey, you don't have to constantly flaunt it or I'll ban you from automatic trans threads ...... And then there be hardly anything to read with your coffee

Welcome to the forum from Oregon. Fill out your signature to let us know how your truck is set up. The two I own are set up for reliability.

Tried The Herko Fuel Transfer Pump - With Test Video
Those times when the VP is getting the hottest is when you need to stay above 14 psi. Going uphills hauling heavy, you should never see below 14 and many others like myself know the variations between brands of fuel pressure gauges know staying at 15 gives a little better safety margin against causing a slow death to the vp. Any pressures above 14 keeps the overflow valve wide open and therefore lets maximum return flow take heat away from the VP. This is according to Mopar1973Man. Are you running two stroke oil mixed with the fuel fo lower scoring values as specified by Bosch? ULSD has too high of score value, but tests show how well 2 cycle oil gets it within realm. Many VP's have gone out right after a lift pump failure.

Carbon footprint
Yep these money hungry Gov't people all they care about is their own future and security. Sit back and think of ways to create more restrictions to charge a permit fee to charge the inspection fee to see that you met the restrictions. That doesn't count state fees and federal fees, county fees, road use fees, water run off fees. Then they say oops you don't have a license to do that portion. Even though no schooling or insurance required for it, you must pay the state 300 bucks to get the license even though you already paid the permit and inspection fee and gets inspected. Hell they charged my client 960 bucks just to put a square box over the area on a map to be built and had to count 11 other homes in that box or no go for permits. The box idea okay but a total of 1360 bucks just to do that?! They crooked.

47re Trans Service Tips and Tricks
That right there is why I want IBMobile to send you his trans. It's amazing what you say... had no idea of the complexity other than just a word here and there. You talked about the intermediate band.... are there three bands? I properly adjusted front and rear only on both trucks

47re Trans Service Tips and Tricks
What do you find the most common problem when tearing down a stock trans that has been towing heavy and has a mild chip for mileage? Is it worn Overdrive clutches? .... Is there a common range of miles that it usually fails? T.I.A.

Gurgling from tank?
On edit; I now think it is more likely the return fuel is at fault. Possibly the return T. at the back of the head. It has somewhat common leaky problems.

Carbon footprint
IBMobile if you can write this well you should do it more often. Thanks professor Daniel That was great and I mean that too.

We need cars that run on plastic.

Gurgling from tank?
I think it would be normal only if you have an air leak in your fuel system somewhere. In other words your possibly hearing some fuel drain back to the tank because a fuel line or fitting is allowing air back in the system thereby allowing the tank drain back. most likely the air leak would be on the suction side where not much fuel leaking shows, but after shut down gravity takes over allowing air back in the system to drain back. Of course I could be wrong as I think about possible air/ fuel leak to the return side.

Vibration under 40 mph.
A few times the yoke goes bad and the shaft has to be rebuilt. Sometimes better to have a 4x4 shop just take a look. I want to mention front wheel bearing too.... if they fail completely the truck can go out of control at highway speeds. Jack the front wheels off the ground every once in awhile and try moving the wheel up and down.... there shouldn't be any play in the wheel bearings.

Carbon footprint
They say we are causing the fire seasons to be worse because we are causing drier conditions and drought with the warming. I believe we do have global warming, but that our Maker is aware of it and still is in control. Its not something running rampant without His knowing about it. The only way the wackos can get what they want is to pay every ones bills and mortgages and make every one stay home.

Carbon footprint
Yes Mike and they say it's all because you won't drive a Prius. Okay, say we all drive an electric car.... now watch the electric plants being overwhelmed with power demands and your electric rates go thru the roof and everyone is parked along long distant routes and highways to find a place to recharge. What a nightmare of nothing but charge stations and hotels to go along with having a place to stay while you recharge. And members to this site and MoparMan is the only guy that drives on by with a 50 year old Dodge Cummins still going like the eveready battery commercial, 'still going'! BTW, ''there goes that one with the chicken hood ornament'' '' I saw that truck 15 years ago''!
