  1. Proof of the pudding is in the pie Just think screens in that condition together with sub zero temperatures. Dodge engineers messed up not having a primary filter you can have access and change on regular intervals.. First mod to both my 01 and my 02 was cutting out those screens and adding a primary filter.
  2. Studying what some of the upgrades look like to see if anything has been changed, even just the simple bigger Borg Warner Governor pressure solenoid and pressure transducer have not been changed. unless changed with factory OEM grade parts, but that's not what I requested. I'm disappointed. I'm glad to be putting together my own trans service kit to make it easier next time around for both trucks. Timd32 thank you for taking an interest in helping with my learning curve. It terrific. Same to Dynamic and others.
  3. Thanks Timd32, I was wondering about Cascade as they seem to have gotten some bad wraps lately. Good to know they are getting back on track. I like over the counter as questions always seem come up. Especially for the greenhorn I am. Just pulled the pan off my 02. They used a gasket not as good as Georends. Seemed pretty thin. Maybe why it was leaking so much. Quite a bit more dirt sludge in the bottom not too bad, even though half the miles of my 01. That's because it hauls my 3200 lbs camper all the time. Next to run for a filter and adjust the bands. Anyone know how to tell if the shop did do the Governor Pressure Solenoid upgrade? Turned over connector?
  4. Sounds good.... don't let him see any short cuts done to your truck he'll get very mad
  5. I saw where mine could also rub in several places. In 06 when I bought my 2002 I stuffed pieces of packaging foam around any place or in between any place I thought might rub. They are still there helping to prevent wear . Every so often, due to the fact he is so short, I have dripley waddle under there to make sure everything is okay. He is a very good inspector.
  6. Nope, that's Dripleys color after some -20 degree winters... keep in mind there's no feathers down there. My opinion is the second gen body style is a nice look in the front and sides. I think will be a classic someday as it looks better than most all other trucks attempting to compete in different styles today.
  7. Looking for a good parts house with good advice about easy install upgrades. Also need filters and gaskets that Georend recommends. I find that I enjoyed working on my Trans, thanks to your advice on adjusting the bands, I still have another 2nd gen that needs attention. Jon, it would be good I do Business with you, but I know how busy you are.
  8. Can anyone tell me the best Transmission Parts house for Oregon. I've heard good about Oregon Performance Transmissions and some bad about Cascade Transmission Parts. I would rather to do business over a greasy counter than online ordering garbage. Thank you.
  9. Yep a jeeper creepers. Got to les schwab where I slept till they opened up and got home after the new bearing. Man they try charging everything they can and then some. That would be a way to camp in their parking lot just let the air out of one tire for the night
  10. Would have been over the height limit with my slide in camper on the truck. He had to get the front wheels on a 'dolly', I believe is what it's called. In another tight Spot with another occasion, I was unable to tighten, Snap On had a gear wrench With 85 clicks in it. It worked perfect. I don't own stock in Snap On.... just had better luck with them than anyone else.
  11. All I know is if I need something no one else has, I can get it from Snap On. They are all A okay in my book. When no one else sold a 9 m socket and as another example a VE rotary pump wrench because they are never requested, I went to Snap On. I placed the socket it in my truck just before a long trip south. Guess What?....... I got stranded with my 3400 lb camper on I-5 with a broken wheel bearing. Guess what the tow truck driver needed and did not have in order to disconnect the rear driveline? A 9 mm socket...... well for some reason I just happened to have one and he says, '' you do?'' Yep right here.... is Snap On Okay? He says that's just dandy and was drooling over it. (Slight story embelishment) but did however save my can at 1:30 am. Now I sent that wrench for the VE pump to Mopar1973Man since I sold that truck and all he can do is tell me it gonna break . Okay go get one at Harbor Freight then Rascal Head
  12. The screens at the bottom of the fuel module eventually clog or varnish. They shouldn't be there because how do you change out a fuel filter when you have no access to it? There needs to be a good lift pump that always stays above 14 mounted on the frame so you can have a filter in front of it so the lift pump is protected from garbage in the fuel. They make plumbing insulation and the thick commercial stuff is available at plumbing supply hoses, comes in different sizes to snap on cover different size hoses. Some big enough to cover big filter big lift pump. The fuel lines and lift pump needs to go on the inside side of the frame for best results from cold. I would get something covering the tank bottom. Something like sleeping bag ground matt insulation to cover the tank bottom.... maybe wrap the whole tank. They make big long zip ties from heating and air conditioning supply houses too.
  13. That's why we have IBMobile so we can understand with pictures.
  14. Dieselfuture your a regular Auto correcter.
  15. I'd be out of there too.... they run them poor guys into the ground. You got to slip them a 20 or two once in awhile. My local service station pretty well has a permanent sign out, '' Now Hiring''. Poor guys.... i see a new pump guy pretty much every week there.
  16. Dripley says he wants to work there when he retires for something to do.
  17. ''Turning ranches''? You mean most guys around here are in real estate flippin redneck properties? Most have chickens too I'd bet.
  18. I find a lot of subs getting like that.... just a lot of BS. Its amazing what they say in order to try and cover up what's obviously just a shortcut.
  19. Yeah, Look what he's got on his truck..... 'not picky' sure Dieselfuture, we'll believe you when chickens fly south for winter .
  20. The larger one looks bad enough that it should be changed to a new ring terminal. If one is like that it is likely more are going to need attention.
  21. Got stung buy a larger than usual yellow jacket which I later learned was the queen. One sting and my whole lower arm swelled up... I looked like popeye walking around for a day or so. If it any consolation I got revenge when I pounded and buried 4 big nests last fall with the track hoe.
  22. The problem is the common rail fuel system always putting full constant fuel pressure to both sides of the injectors' electronic solenoid otherwise it would not be able to open. When one fails it dumps much larger amounts of fuel into the cylinder with a far greater chance of ruining the engine. That is why it is so important to change them at 100 k. My whole reason for keeping both my second gens is I love having larger amounts going into savings. Yes I did have an old 12 valve for 22 yrs. It got to a point it was time for it to go. It was a daily work truck the whole time and saved me quite a bit of money. In the end it still wasn't costing as much like a newer truck would. But the people I paid to do some of the major items weren't right and that killed it for me.
  23. Mopar1973 Man, what do you mean 'with the grid heater light on' is that an indication of a problem? Thank you.
