2001 Altenator Charging WOES
Okay now.... argument starting here today .......Now them fuses have a big enough gauge link to see the burnt / melted part. And them breakers the more often you reset them things the more apt they are to trip. In other words, the more often it trips the lower the amp rating they become. Also carrying extra fuses in the glove box, it still has enough room to have your factory operators manual.

Yes my search showed that one breaker tested, a 150 amp breaker was tripping at just 75 amps. Others wrote in and said a couple other brands were tripping at lower than the rated amps as well. I trust Blue Sea Systems fuses so went with that instead. So far so good on both trucks I have

Let's talk about shocks.
What if I gave you stock height? Would that help? Tell me too, is it a 4x4 truck?

Mike, is your valley getting crowded like it is around here? Man, I'm seeing nuts people, drivers everywhere and very few cops anywhere.

2001 Altenator Charging WOES
Hey int3man, do you have your own volt meter? I'm wondering at what level the AC ripple is. I know M73M always says, ''take it out and have it tested on a test stand'', but if you have a good volt meter what is the benefit if you can test it yourself? And the guys down at Oreilly's still say, ''Huh'' when I ask to test for AC voltage level. They still don't understand the importance. My experience is limited so I have to ask..... wouldn't a poorly grounded alternator charge at higher rates? Often they ground thru the mount bracket and as W-T pointed out, that connection is often weak from rust and corrosion. IBMobile and me run a wire ground from the Alt casing/ frame to battery neg. I was reading some benefits to that years ago.

You could disconnect the two alternator excitement wires off the back of the alternator and see if symptoms go away. Another much needed upgrade that's helped many in your situation is doing the 'W-T's Grounding Mods'. It is in the article data base for 2nd gens. Also upgrading to the Timbo APPs, is better built, less expensive and more reliable. A new VP with a Timbo Apps goes well together. What level of AC volts are you seeing?

Coffee And Morning Thoughts for the day.......
That's what I'm thinking, either electronic delete or mechanical delete you still get in trouble right? Coffee ready.... gets my EGR working required by a.o.c.

Coffee And Morning Thoughts for the day.......
Dripley drinks irish cream straight and I tried to tell him it's better in coffee, but won't listen.... So you are saying there is a tuner that virtually eliminates or by passes the problematic emissions? That's got to be cool! If it's true then mileage numbers should increase. Another question.... why hasn't the common rail fuel system owners been speaking much or posting much about them. Are they afraid to speak the truth about it for fear of rapid devaluation in their trucks. Or is it that a lot of these guys just go trade in every 100,000 and don't care? Dripley had all his wrenches made with custom handles....''honey hand me the 10mm drum stick please''. LOL

Truck died in traffic, will idle but dies with throttle (7) DTC codes
It's important to upgrade your fuel system and get away from stock system. Factory set up does not do enough to keep the injection pump from a 'slow death' as Mopar1973Man calls it. It has to be above 14 p.s.i. especially when hauling heavy, going up long grades etc. and factory system cannot keep up, so the injection pump runs hot. Combine that with the newer ULSD and the lower lubricity..... you have a situation where the new injection pump won't last long either. BTW, your 75,000 on the clock is right in there where a majority of original factory injection pumps have failed. The newer ones from certified Bosch rebuildesr have the upgraded steel timing piston sleeve, but still needs 2 stroke oil in each tank to lower the cylinder scoring value (test results in a laboratory). You should put in a Timbo APPS at the same time.... much smoother, more reliable TPS.

Coffee And Morning Thoughts for the day.......
I think there is money to be made if you know them well enough to find them in the rough for a good price and then fix them. Auto industry is seeing tighter smog restriction requirements, more than ever before and it is beginning to affect sales.

Coffee And Morning Thoughts for the day.......
I have a gut feeling that with what is happening in the auto industry these days that the old cars, being a lot of them are already valuable, are now going to go thru the stratosphere hitting astronomical prices. I'm talking the kind of money you can retire on. Even 70's 80's vintage are going to be in greater demand. Watch over your second gen truck.... nice ones are only starting to go up in price. That's my thoughts or my jet fuel coffee........Mopar Man drinks 90 weight with 5 spoons sugar lol

Time to look for a new truck!
What are Vegans? Why can't they be called vegetarians like the old days? Or is it because they are like a vegetable, won't work or do labor? Too much like work to say vegetarian or sompin

Dripley..... he hangs the chicken at the tail pipe and by the time he gets to work he's got smoked chicken for everyone.

Fuel Article - Replacing Injectors
I once had a shop light hanging over a carborator with the air cleaner off. Just financed the truck and built the shop a couple years earlier, I sat in the truck to start it and the light ignited the fumes. Flames were coming out the top. Moving with lightening speed, I grabbed a rag and held it over the carborator with both hands. With the engine shut off, I managed to snuff it out without getting hurt. Gettin' off topic here.

Bolt dropping disease is very contagious, can strike any time, so always tape off or stuff clean rags in the intake. For various reasons I like using the blue tape.

RV Vent Insulating pillows....
The ones they make are from a company called Camco. I'm just going to keep them even though I paid 22 bucks for the two of them. They have a washable cover which makes it seem like they won't adapt properly around the crank handle. I'll just have to try them out on Saturday. Dripley's company makes smaller chicken pillows you stuff down the intake to stop bolts.

If I remember right he is director of manufacturing and has the company hood ornament. I think IBMobile got a picture of it when he was back there visiting.

Must be something in the air. I awoke about the same time. I go back to sleep after coffee and some reading.

RV Vent Insulating pillows....
Watcha doing up so early Dan? Foam idea is good, thank you. I can't sleep much with all the stuff going on. Building a home today is difficult. There are a lot more things in the way including the people you have to deal with. I'm going back to small jobs. I was much happier and actually loved it that way.

RV Vent Insulating pillows....
Do you guys take the crank off to get those to stay stuffed in each vent or do you simply cut a hole in the pillow to let the crank into the pillow? Do they stay in pretty well or should I take them back for store credit? T.I.A.

Low Pop Pressure and detecting it

New VP44 - Engine requires excessive cranking when hot
Hey guys what if Leaky poured cool water over the PCU to see if it starts up without problems? Would that be any kind of test to see if he got a bad VP44 before his warrantee expires?
