Weird Science...
Before I read the wiki article, I was gonna call it a hoax. Reason being that he did not show the bottle after it had done its thing. Which would lead me to believe that it was not due to this phenomenon. I have seeing other youtube videos of a chemical reaction occuring, as if it was water, but when touched, agitated, etc. it would solidify.

http://www.pureflowairdog.com/airdogII.php http://www.xtremediesel.com/pureflowairdogiiairfuelseparationsystemdf-100wadjustableregulatorquickconnect.aspx ^This oughtta get you in the right direction. Edumacate yourself about the fuel delivery system and the importance of it with a diesel engine. Then also understand this in relation to a vp44 injection pump. This system should be in your budget, and is the least I would go with. If you plan on getting crazy, front the money now instead of later and get a higher model one. I got my ADII 165gph for about $650. Look around for deals and I bet you can find one for about the same. If you go this route, with a 165, you will have to yank the tank and modify the basket in the tank to allow for better suction. For a diesel engine, the fuel is the blood, the life of the engine.

Mechanical Lift Pump
Haha, not even 6 months in and the motor on my Airdog dies. I'm still under warranty, so when it poops on me and no longer under warranty, I very well may go this route. I think fabbing up a plate to protect the components, being that it is a moving part so close to the underside and exposed, would serve good purpose. Then again, I did not think the filters on the Airdog being under the truck and exposed they way they were, would last long. Well, to my surprise, they have yet to even receive a nick from the tire kicking a rock.I think combining the qualities of the airdog system with this fuel boss system, would make one hell of a fuel delivery system.

Very Pretty and had to pass along...
What faith are you of, if at all? Just out of curiousity...

What fuel pressure do you run if you have a gauge?
I run around 19psi at idle and about 13 psi WOT. I have been recently thinking about my fuel delivery system. I have an Airdog 165, but the feed line goes to the OEM filter housing. Right before I bought the airdog I replaced the oem filter with a new one. And I wanted to take advantage of any pre-heat I could get being I live in the PNW. Whether or not it really helps, I dunno. But I think my flow is reduced because of the smaller steel line from the filter housing to the vp44. Although, I do like the extra filter for insurance before the vp44.

Mechanical Lift Pump
So does anyone own one of these or know someone who owns one of these? OR, has anyone seen anyone else with one of these? I wonder how well they perform and do their job as they should? I think that the drawback is that it has to be under the engine like it is to be driven by a belt from the harmonic balancer... http://store.dieseltruckresource.com/9fubomelipus.html

Another Wolf Attack in Emmett, Idaho
I saw that one in the paper the season he killed it. I believe that was the first wolf harvested of the first year for wolf hunting in his area, right? I have had a few cougars in our hunting area. But they have been keeping to themselves and they have been pretty few and far between. When the cougars start pairing up, then you got problems. I have yet to encounter a wolf personally in my territory, but I know they are here because I hear of people in the area talking about their encounters. ...bigfoot is still #1 on my, "oh ____" list. I have yet to understand them completely.

HELP! Airdog 165 Blows fuses!
Well, for the moment, I will sit on it. I called Airdog today and Kyle did not even question me. He just confirmed my info and he is having a pump UPS grounded to me. Supposed to be here Friday. So when I switch out the pump and if it still has problems, I will start troubleshooting.Kyle mentioned that the seal on inside might have gone out and liquid could be shorting the pump out... So, can someone tell me how you disconnect the lines from the fittings?

HELP! Airdog 165 Blows fuses!
Thanks for the quick input guys. I did not for one second think of putting a larger fuse in. I don't care if it is a mile to my house. It takes but a second to cause a fire. Yea, my pump is on warranty. I got permission to leave it in the lot until tomorrow. If it is not a quick fix, when I talk to airdog, I got free towing through my auto insurance. I will not be happy if it is the pump. They better overnight me one! --- Update to the previous post... So it sounds like the fuse problem is going to very well be from the pump. I have yet to read of anyones problem with the fuse blowing being related to anything else BUT the pump. What gets me is that I have had this pump since September. That is almost 6 months with this! My confidence in their product is quickly losing my respect solely on this. Hopefully it is just a simple fix, like a clog in the gyrator assembly.

Which airdog should i get 100 or 150 or 165?
Do a 165. That leaves you with the ability to do performance mods without having to up the pump again if you get a 100 or 150. When I got the 165, it was about the same price as a 150. I had to put in the tank mod and all that, but it is worth it.

Another Wolf Attack in Emmett, Idaho
The wolves introduced to the area recently are the Canadian Shield Wolf. I hunt every year to put meat on my table. That means I'm going for the elk as much as possible. If these damn liberal bunny huggers wanna see wolves, they can to a ZOO! Matter of fact, 15 miles south of me, they have a small business called, "Wolf People". Guess what happened not too long ago? ONE got out! I hope it died a slow death. SOME of you guys are missing the point about these wolves. These species of wolves came from the Yukon of CANADA! They are much bigger than what the original wolf was. FISH AND GAME introduced these wolves to the area. Either they did not bother to think about what they were doing, or they did it on purpose. These wolves are a big problem in my opinion. Everyone says let them be, and no harm no foul. But have you ever bothered to look into what wolves do? They teach their young by taking them on hunting parties, and I would almost say that gives them too much of the benefit of the doubt to say hunting party. I would almost just call it a killing party. They will take their young and decimate elk herd all in the name of experience of the kill! They do not eat them after, they will just leave the elk. I for one will say we all did JUST fine without these damn dogs. Our ecosystem was just fine before them, and there was plenty of elk and other animals for human consumption. Before you go off bantering to me about why there is supermarkets that have packaged beef, I will say I for one will not sit there and eat that packaged crap that has every known thing injected in the cow. Not to mention if you want to call me, a "hunter" a murderer. Take a look at the damn slaughter houses. You wanna call me a savage? You better think again how that pound of ground beef with meat from a thousand cows got there on your plate. RANT OUT!

HELP! Airdog 165 Blows fuses!
Guys, NEED HELP ASAP!I do not have a low pressure warning light, but I have gotten in the habit of turning the key to the ON position and listening to the pump prime before I turn the truck over. I cannot recall if the problem started last night, or longer or if it really was this evening. So me and the wife went to the grocery store for a few things, which is about a mile or so away from the house. Truck started and ran just fine. Although I was stupid and did not remember to listen to the pump. We get done shopping and I put the key in to let the grid heaters preheat. I was putting my coat on outside of the truck as I was waiting. I noted that the airdog did not prime.I tried cycling the key to see if it was just me. The lights came on, but the fuel pressure gauge showed 0 psi. So I started checking fuses, the dash fuses were not blown. I popped the hood, and the the main fuse block was good. I checked the airdog pump fuse, itself, and it was blown. I just so happened to not have any 20 amp fuses out of all the fuses I have in my truck! Luckily, I spend about $4 for an assorted fuse kit back in the grocery store. It has 1 20 amp fuse. I plug the fuse in and turn the key to listen for the pump.Pump starts priming, but it sounds like its loaded and it would not prime more than 10 psi. I turn the key off and try again, it primes, but still sounds loaded. So I crank it over to see if the pump would see a better voltage after the grid heaters kick off. I wait, and just as the battery starts charging, the pressure needle drops. I shut the truck off. Check the fuse, BLOWN! :banghead:I checked all the wiring. Everything checks out. I can't for the life of me figure out what is going on?! It does not seem like it could be a short, as a short should immediately blow a fuse. I was reading just a smidge before I posted this and someone says the pumps can be the culprit?I also noticed last night that my trailer brake controller light does not come on when I push on the brake. i checked those fuses, they were fine. :shrug:Damnit, I need my truck! I was supposed to go into the station tomorrow and put in my duty time!

Wood Stove Guys..............Come Here, Please
BLAZE KING!!!! If you can find a PRE-EPA blaze king, BUY IT! They don't brag about their woodstoves for nothin! You might also try and look for a wood stove/insert that does not do a catalytic converter. They have some that are EPA approved that use, IIRC, a re-burner. Instead of hasslin with all that remodel work to make your chimney work, I would look at just doing double-wall pipe in the chimney and out. That would keep cost down since you would not have to line the chimney. If it were me, I would just forget about the fireplace completely and put it independently. Burning firewood is a whole-new beast! The luxury of burning wood and being able to cook yourself out of the house for pennies! Also, if you want some automation from the wood stove, depending on what you get, give a barometric dampener a try. I feel like this thread is gonna turn this place into Arboristsite! As for the amount of wood... well... That is about 20 cords... OH, almost forgot, if you did not know already, DO NOT do more than 2 90 degree bends in your piping. Restricts air flow way too much. If you can, do 2, 45 degree bends to make a 90 so the airflow is not choked.

Mopar Man's Reverse Lights! PICS!
Everything looks fine and dandy on there, EXCEPT for one thing:SHRINK WRAP!Those connections need protection. Either you do it in a shrink wrap, or you can save yourself the hassle and buy liquid tape. I know O'reilly's has it for a fact. Comes in a small yellow can like you would see for PVC cement, etc.If you want ultimate protection, do the liquid tape, then the shrink wrap.

Trany Life Expectancy
You failed to mention whether or not your transmission is an auto or manual. I have not dealt with the manuals. Although it seems the manuals do not have many problems like the autos do. I still hear an occassional comment about manuals. I think that part is mostly neglect of it due to too much power and poor servicing. An automatic on the other hand is a different story. The consesus is that a STOCK auto is not nearly capable of even beginning to be able to handle the cummins engines power. Your setting yourself up for failure with a stock transmission. Even when the truck is stock performance wise. You start adding power enhancers like injectors and a chip, turbos, etc. you will soon begin to see the stock auto go out. People are usually not easy on these trucks, thats why they bought them, right? To make a work truck WORK!If you haul or tow anything, you are gonna eventually see the weak links give soon. First thing for me was the torque converter. Then it was the overdrive unit. I'm sure the flywheel will be another one to go out soon too.In all reality though, its what you do with the truck. If you grandma it around and never really open up the throttle and put around town, chances are a stock auto will last you hundreds of thousands of miles with regular service intervals.I assume you wont be doing that though. Cause you have a CTD and not a honda civic. Use your stock tranny until it gives out without causing hard part damage unless you wanna pay for that. Then, get yourself setup with the right tranny built for what you plan on doing.I have a completely stock performance wise truck, and I have a rebuilt tranny with the things in my signature. I have been lectured a little on about getting a billet flexplate and input, but I have also read things about doing the contrary. I do plan using mine to do some work though. Firewood, plowing snow, towing trailers, etc. So I have built mine for what I plan it seeing. With regular interval services, and top quality fluids, I should get quit a bit of life out of it. So long as I don't hot rod it around towing 12k lbs up hills, etc.Even though you may have a tranny built to what you plan on doing with it, it still will see wear and tear on it. Things do wear down no matter what, so you will always have to keep in mind you have to take care of it like it is your body. Hope this was informative!

4WD Problems?
The rear end is not a LSD. When I was driving in 4wd, I was on the highway and also in 2 parking lots to test it.The first lot I went to before I fueled up, was all snowed in as it was snowing hard and had a few inches on the ground. Even virgin snow! The second lot was the same MO. But this time around it had not made any noises.I just went to another lot by my house and tried the 4wd out. I went in 4hi and lo and did full lock left and right. I also did straight. Never made a single noise and functioned flawlessly.Maybe it was just a fluke?
-
4WD Problems?
Any idea as to why the noise would go away after driving it? How do I check to see if u-joints are bad?I have dis-assembled the front end before, so the parts will be cakework to remove as I had put anti-seize on. I also bought a socket for the hub nut. A whopping $30 from NAPA!Mechanic told me back in August that my front u-joint was going bad. Not sure which one he was talknig about though. He was fiddling with the front driveshaft when he said this.

An experience of a lifetime...
You know my biggest fear? ....seeing one eye to eye. I've learned a little bit about the way they communicate. But I don't have the balls to try it. Cause once they figure out who I'am, they go into another mode and I don't wanna see how far they can escelate it. I'm heading back home today, so this evening I will post the pics I have. I've thought about the potential for the chaos that could be caused bagging one, but I could not fathom what it would be like to go down in the history books as the first one recorded and confirmed to bag a bigfoot! I have also thought about inviting people on a trip and experiencing bigfoot themselves for those who are willing to pay to be proven otherwise. My friend of over 10 years did not believe me and thought I was full of crap. He went dirtbiking with his friends one day somewhere way diff. than where I go. He stopped for a second when he was by himself on the trail, and the next thing he knew, this towering human-like creature stood up not far off from him. He almost sh!t his pants! I guess he caught up with his friends nad he was ghost white. Later on, I called him because I wanted him to help me find a freshwater spring in the mountains and he told me about his little run-in. Guess I'm not so full of the brown stuff now, huh! Haha, it was a good moment to take in... I don't believe bigfoot to be some mysteriously unknown creature that has descended from outer space or some nonsense like that. What I DO believe them to be is a species of ape that have been so smart about their survival, they have manage to make it this long. I also believe that because they have been around this long, they have been able to reproduce by the millions. And because of how they work, I also believe that they have to be spread out from each other and we eventually see them like we are now. Because we continue to develop into areas that are remote and push them into a "corner" more and more so to say. --- Update to the previous post... So as I said I would, here are those pics I took! I know they are not the best, but its the best I could do with a cell phone camera! This is from a trip right before we did our elk camp. This was in a wooded area behind our camp that we usually stay at. This print, although hard to make out, seems to be an older or larger bigfoot as the spacing of the bi-pedal joint is larger. Here is my hand next to it, to give you an idea! Here is the footprint! I tried to enhance it so things could be a little more distinguishable. WELL??

4WD Problems?
Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out my 4wd problem. This is the first truck I've had with 4wd. So I do not know very much about it. I have opened up the front end before to do seals and whatnot as well as the brakes. I did this back in Sept. I've had a recent transmission rebuild done as well.I have used the 4wd multiple times before and after my tranny rebuild and a few times before I opened up the front. I have also done fluids on everything as well.I took a trip from Sandpoint down to Spokane on Fri. The whole way there I had to have it in 4wd. It functioned without a problem. Tonight though, I drove from Spokane to CDA which is about 30 miles. I had it in 2wd. Once I entered the Post falls area, I had to put it into 4wd as the snow was very heavy.I noticed, it went into 4wd just fine. The light came on. But traveling, this was also straight to slight curves, I noticed something funny. When I got to CDA, I took the turns through town to get to the fueling station. I was next to a parking lot, so I drove around trying to play around with it.Going straight in 4wd, I could not tell what the noise was, but there was something. When I went to make some somewhat sharp turns, I could hear very distinct sound of something clicking or ticking. Some sort of bind?I fueled up and hit the road to come home. I left it in 4wd the whole way home, an it still worked. I did not hear any noises either. I DEFINITELY needed it from CDA back to Sandpoint! The snow and roads were so bad, I could not see no more than 30ft in front of me.So when I finally reached Sandpoint, I pulled into a lot to see if my 4wd was still acting up. I pulled turns at full lock and all I had was the hop from the tires. I did not have any noises.I don't get what was going on? Is my 4wd ok? I was at first thinking u-joints bound up somewhere. But it should have made the noise when I got home too, right? Or, another theory I had was that the fluids were so cold, something was slipping?Anyone have any ideas? I need to get it adressed ASAP as 4wd is my friend!

Air filters Pre-Filters
I'm not sure if the intake tube on these newer trucks are smaller or not. Maybe bigger? You could also reverse if it is different. But what about a rubber bellhousing from the hardware store?

Mopar Man's Got me convinced..... I need an aftermarket lift pump
I've only used the AIRDOG. But with my experience so far, it has been doing its job..I would highly recommend the AIRDOG, but I'm sure in reality, you cant got wrong with either. To me, airdog leads in this technology.
