  1. So I was fortunate enough to be given a set of Bully Dog 100hp injectors by a fine fellow a few weeks ago. He did a turbo swap and the mechanic convinced him he needed to get new injectors. He replaced them and has since sold the truck, still retaining the old injectors and a factory set also, so he donated them to me. Knowing Bully dog has been out of the production biz of injectors for a while I promptly made a call to DAP. I spoke with Dallas to which he provided me some great information and service. I sent them to DAP (arrived on Friday) to be tested and verified. They are a traditional Bosch body which appears to be in good shape so DAP is going to test and verify the condition of them and most likely I will be replacing the old technology of the bully dog nozzles with new nozzles from DAP. I will probably stick with 100hp nozzles and maybe do a towing turbo upgrade a little later down the road. They are going to make sure the injectors are ready to go when I get them back, and I am excited. Looks like it will be time to turn down the ole comp quite a bit.
  2. Thats a good way to work up a breakfast appetite. I on the other hand, slept to recover from yesterday.
  3. I miss my 06 mega 6 speed all the time also, so much room inside. I also will probably own another some day. You could always try to locate a 12v swapped excursion. Its been a pretty popular swap over the last few years.
  4. I would say tap it. I bought my new (refurbed) pump and immediately tapped it as soon as I got my comp back. That was in 2012, no regrets and no issues. I also use a stealth plate. As previously stated, if you have the fuel pressure to supply the pump, I wouldn't expect any problems.
  5. I have to put my .02 in here. #1 The exhaust can only flow as much as the engine puts out regardless. The manifold is not 5",4", or even 3" for that matter. Then we have the same in regards to the turbo itself. The HX35 only has a 3" exhaust outlet, but can the turbo flow more than the exhaust outlet can handle or vice versa. obviously through engineering it is known that what is used is sufficient to meet needs however, what I'm getting at is there are a lot of choke points in an exhaust system, but at any point you open it up (the sooner the better) I feel it relieves pressure all the way down the line. (prior to the choke point.) The sooner the pressure is released and allowed to expand, the easier it is on the whole system. Humor me in proof of this using straws. Take a regular straw. cut 2" off the end of the straw. Now crease 1-3/4" of that straw so you have 1/4" of normal straw then atmosphere. Now take the rest of the straw and crease the enter length of it. Blow through the 2 different straws and you will quickly notice the short straw in substantially easier to push air through. The only thing done is opening the choke point to larger and then to atmosphere. Obviously in this case your body is the engine, but its hard to deny its easier on your body just like it would be less strain on an engine. Not to be bias, I asked my wife to perform this science experiment with no knowledge of what it was for, she immediately new the answer.
  6. Gotcha. I would like to weigh a system and see the difference, but I don't think there is nearly as big of a difference as most think in the weight department if your talking new straight vs old with muffler, unless of course someone does stainless. I will agree it doesn't take a drastic increase in weight to have a negative effect on a hanger, but I would also say it will be an individual circumstance situation. i.e., how fast does one drive down said pothole, washed out roads. I have a 2" section of 5" if someone else has a 2" section of 3" we can get at least a comparison that way. I went aluminized as I keep my undercarriage pretty clean so it should last a long time.
  7. I will be the 1st to state I bought 5" just because I wanted the sound. My truck is fully undercoated and is remarkably quiet in the cab. I am a fan of the deep sound and spend most of my drive time with my passenger window down a little. I took my time installing my exhaust and kept it up as tight as possible up inside the frame rails and rear 1/4 panel. I don't think I would drag or hit my 5" any faster than someone would on a factory 3" maybe less of a chance since I don't have the ginormous muffler up there either. Absolutely no HP gain from going 5", However the happiness factor was a great return.
  8. ^^^ that would be your throw out bearing. If it only makes a little noise you still have time, if its making a ruckus, your gonna want to address the issue a little sooner.
  9. Ah, I knew the frame was a different setup. The front is boxed, the center (cab) is rolled C channel and the back is just standard C channel, but I had not seen anything about that mess. Thanks for the info.
  10. Can you elaborate of on the "Tundra is not even a solid frame truck"" statement?
  11. If it ain't broke.......Murphy's law will fix it for ya. J/K. No point in spending money on something if it hasn't given you reason to yet.
  12. The easy prime is an air hose into the filler neck for the lines to the pump. After that one good round of a 10-15 second key turn has always brought fuel to the VP for me.
  13. I am the same way when it comes to electric motors, hence the reason I went mechanical. Simple and reliable. Aside from catastrophic gear failure (which I haven't heard of anyone having out of a mechanical pump yet) every other part can be replaced right on the spot. .And that only consists of a couple bearings, belt and I suppose you can count the pulleys. I know I can source the belt, and bearings locally and would almost put money on being able to cnc another pulley from remains of a destroyed one if needed. In regards to the air/water separator, you can purchase the big rail mount kit from vulcan for around $160 or so (last I checked).
  14. I am running one of the first production runs of the Assassin pumps and aside from changing an improperly deflected belt ( my fault) I have not had any issues. on a rare occasion I will get a spike of 22psi instead of 21psi but I haven't ever had low pressure, leaks, or any other faults. I have had it on my list for a while to do a rail mount 2 mic filter and separator but have been running the stock filter set up since install. I have taken mine apart several times to check for the elusive debri some have issues with and have not found any yet. I did have a bit of slow customer service to receive mine but I was also forewarned by Stefan beforehand so I couldn't and didn't complain. I consider myself lucky I guess, but I really like my Assassin. I don't remember when I installed it but its been quite a while back now.
  15. You know Hex, I have to say there are times when I see the flag flying and it pisses me off at the disrespect some show Ole Glory. There are a lot folks out there whom don't think twice about the flag or the freedom they have have been given only to ignore it's meaning. The circumstance you mention is one of those situations. On the flip side I see many occasions when the flag is mis-handled and done in a true patriotic stance, yet we do not get mad over those despite them being equally wrong. i.e.. folks wearing clothing bearing the colors, sports teams placing the flag flat out for display (covering the field with a giant flag) which is also not to be done, (unless something has changed) Same said teams placing a small flag on their jerseys some where. or lets not forget the all american company who places a depiction of a flag on their items being sold/advertised. All done as a reminder of just who we are, not to be disrespectful. The one thing I cannot and will not deal with is seeing a flag on the ground. That Sir, I will not be easily swayed from choking someone out for. I truly agree society has lost its earnest for proper and unequivical patriotism. Much like being a contributing member of society, being a contributing member of patriotism is a failing state of mind and of union. My. .02
  16. That's what I would expect. I am sure there are many possible factors, I may have an injector or two getting tired, may have a boost leak. Not sure but as always the mopar family helps narrow things down. Thanks guys. Any other input is appreciated.
  17. I do have a non adjustable boost elbow from industrial injection.
  18. No sir, I have some black smoke (very little) but EGT's never get over high 1100's.
  19. I would imagine I have enough fuel to get over 24 psi. I'm running a hot unlocked edge comp with plenty of fuel pressure. But maybe your right.
  20. Thanks Mike, I had actually just watched your video and it made me ask "what did Mike use?"
  21. Pretty simple question here. I am going to put together a BLDC. (boost leak detection contraption) as I feel I have a small leak in the upper boost pressures (only seeing about 24psi) What do you use, how did you build it and what parts are used to build it?
  22. bjytech is correct from everything I have ever read. It is an upgrade on several aspects. The HE351 can handle higher boost pressures (up into the 40's I think) without overspooling. obviously it will move a little more air, and I would think it should spool faster being a 9cm instead of a 12. If I were going to swap, I would do this over a hybrid 40 for sure. Some of the more knowledgable members will clarify it all for you I am sure.
  23. Oh and I like the 66, very purdy!
  24. So what are you doing with the 63?
  25. Just know that you need to be meticulous in finding the issue. Sometimes it will be so obvious there is no trouble finding it, but it may also be very small in terms of what you see with your own eyes. I don't know the stature of your truck as you don't have a filled out sig (HINT HINT) Anyway, lots of factors come into play and I believe the last thread was titled "Death Wabble" there were some good discussions in there about the matter that may help you out with ideas.
