IAT and MAP sensor
Went out earlier and returned my truck to stock settings. Like Ryan said, it wipes out the abs adjustments as well. Actually when there is no software programs installed from the smarty, theres not even an option to adjust abs. Shows how much I run my truck at stock :whistle:Thanks for setting me straight!

To Sport or not to Sport, that is the question....
Hey Ryan, have you figured anything out on a harness? I picked up a used set off an 02 today, theyre not as good as new, but the lenses are still overall in good condition. They look alot yellower in the picture for some reason. For 45 bucks, I figured I wouldnt be out much if I decide one day to go to HIDs instead. Now I just need to get a harness together and Ill be good to go.

6.7 headache has returned!
So while the reman company is busy breaking one off in your customer, does he have another truck to run? From the sounds of it, he makes a living out of it, thats a horrible situation to be in. If the reman company doesnt honor the warranty, please share their contact info so everyone else can be aware of them for future purchases.

Headlite Lenses....
Theres several restoration kits available out there, some better than others. But they honestly dont do what they claim, and they tend to haze back over quicker once theyre sanded down. Unfortunately the best solution is replacements. Theyre pricey, but you wont have to worry about it for another 10+ years (assuming your on the original head lights)

Oil Pressure Sender
What kind of numbers is your mechanical gauge showing going down the road once your all warmed up? Just kind of curious for a "real number"

6.7 headache has returned!
Were the injectors from his old engine? Man thats a real bum deal. I feel for your customer.

6.7 headache has returned!
So what are they blaming that on? A bad ecm or something? Surely with all the electronics on the newer engines theres no way to even mess with any timing?

KDP on a 24v?
Looking at genos website they list 2 different part numbers for the kdp kit. One set for 94-98 12 valve and the other for 89-93 and 98.5-02. But then if you go to the tech article it states this was not an issue with the 24 valves because theyve got different gear cases. So basically contradicting themselves

IAT and MAP sensor
Tomorrow I will go out and return my truck back to stock and see what it does. Other than reading dtc codes for people, Ive never really had to share it with anyone, so Im not completely sure either. I do know that I can change tunes and not lose the abs, adjustment, I will let you know what I find out tomorrow.

NO Crank.... on the '00...
Wish all my fixes turned out like that!

IAT and MAP sensor
Are you sure about that, Ryan? The way I remember it is if you clear any dtc you would also reset the speedo. But I can go in and adjust my abs (speedo) without doing any other changes or downloads. And no matter what I do as long as I dont clear any dtc i will retain my abs adjustment. Now to get the high idle, you have to be able to download a catcher software, then you can remove it back to stock but you still maintain your high idle feature. I could be wrong, my wife tells me I am everyday!

KDP on a 24v?
I remember a conversation we had a while back about your "one tank trips". Think ya could make it all the way up to the Northeast corner of Ohio?

KDP on a 24v?
Thats pretty similar to what Ive read, like they had extra cases in certain plants and used them up on the 24 valves. It is an uneasy feeling not knowing whether or not Ive got one, maybe better to just go ahead and open it up and see what Ive got. Make a good saturday or sunday project, when its too cold to be outside.

VP44 repair locations
you mean so you can do a write up on it and maybe post up some pictures? Hmm, sounds like maybe a vp could be getting packaged up and air mailed to Idaho in the near future....I would be willing to temporarily donate it for the benefit of everybody here. Then when your done you could just send it back my way, what do ya think?

IAT and MAP sensor
Hey Will, like Ryan says if you know someone with a smarty they are capable of recalibrating your speedo. Ive double checked mine with a gps and its spot on. If you have to go to the dealer, Im guessing they will charge you a minimum of an hours labor. Thats just a guess though Ive never gone to them for that.

VP44 repair locations
I have a vp that was given to me some time ago, the guy had attempted to remove the pump on his own without researching how it was done. He didnt know the gear needed to be pulled off with the special little puller, and tried prying it off with big bars. Looks like he maybe even drove wedges in to try to pop the pump loose. He ended up breaking chunks of aluminum off the front of the pump, and ruined his chances of being able to use it as a core. He was going to scrap it along with a bunch of other stuff, my friend happened to be at this fellows house when he was loading up his trailer for a scrap run, and snatched the pump up for me. At first I told himI didnt want it, but after thinking about it a minute changed my mind. I want to tear it apart just to see what theyre all about. More of a curiosity then anything, Ive never seen the internals of one other than on a pdf on the computer.

Fuel prices dropping?!

KDP on a 24v?
Thats what Im wondering. Ive seen the kits for doing the tab and have seen them for the early 24valves as well. Since Ive got a 98.5, its always been in the back of my mind. Supposedly they had the same issue, but Ive never personally heard of anybody thats had the problem themselves. I think I read about it on TDR, which has been around since the 2nd gens were new. I suppose if nobodys responding, thats a good thing for me. Im going to keep digging though, just to settle my doubts. Planning at least 2 sizeable road trips this year, going to the east coast in early July and then turning around and heading to Wyoming after that if things go as planned, so Ive got a few items I want to get ironed out before saddling up. This is one of them

New member, lift pump questions.
Hey Matt, welcome aboard. Ive also got an AD100, its been good so far, but like you Ive also been eyeballing the mechanical/belt driven pumps. When the day comes, thats probably what I will do. In the meantime, Ive got a healthy carter lift pump in my tool box I carry with me at all times whenever Im venturing far from home. In the event my AD pukes, its a relatively quick swap to install the carter to get me back home.

No new taxes!!??!!
Moparmom, please dont shoot the messenger! i am in no way a nobama supporter, or any political supporter, for that matter. Like I said earlier, nothing has been signed and this is all temporary at best, and yes weve known ssi was going to increase all along. I think it is appropriate we are taking care of our seniors, I can only hope these services will still be in effect when we all need them, but Im certainly not holding my breath. No doubt will they try to use this as a smoke screen to increase taxes in other areas, most likely either on a federal level or yet another homeowners tax hike. We didnt "avoid" anything last night as they would like us to believe, even if the income tax would have gone through, it would have still had to go through the house before it was passed into effect, either way, theyre still going to be hacking it out behind closed doors and in the end we will all wind up paying in some way or another. I still feel it is better, at least for the moment , than what we were looking at 48 hours ago I feel we need to trim the fat rather than continue to ask for more money, I guess we will see how its all played out!Hopefully everybodys got a mattress full of money stashed away somewhere!

No new taxes!!??!!
Isnt that the truth. 2k a year more for the avg family would have been a crippling hit, for sure. Im glad they "saw the light" and what that would have done to the economy. Looks like theyre at least making an effort to level the playing field a little. First time in 20 years theyve upped the ante on the wealthy. Also leaving medicare alone for the moment, which I feel is important for our seniors. Heres a little more info for anyone who may be interested. http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2013/01/01/what-you-need-know-about-bipartisan-tax-agreement-0 Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the link that says "read the fact sheet to learn more about the bipartisan tax agreement" Its not perfect by any means and alot of it is probably temporary at best, but it sure is a better outlook at least for the moment.

No new taxes!!??!!
This is quite the surprise, not what I was expecting at all. http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2013/01/01/statement-president-tax-agreement

scan gauge
My SG II does this as well. Or sometimes it will stay powered on just enough to stay lit up but put out some really skewed numbers. Like say Im cruisin down the road getting about 20 - 22 mpg (instant), and hit a bump, now Im getting more like 80 mpg Wishful thinking but not likely! Once it happens, it will not straighten itself out until I unplug it and plug it back in. Ive tried to look to see if Ive got any pins that look out of wack, everything looks normal. Whats strange is the plug on my SG fits rather loosely onto my OBDII port, yet my smarty is very snug and firm feeling. May be just the difference in quality of plugs.

Cold Idle Problems
Did you ever find your heater plug? Im not positive that all trucks are sold with the cords, especially trucks that are sold in warmer climates, but it will at least have the heater element in the block. The cords can be purchased at Genos among other places, one end will plug into the element and the other end is for the electrical outlet. If I remember correctly, it should be about mid way up the block, passenger side. It does make a very noticeable difference plugging them in in colder weather.

KDP on a 24v?
Hey guys, Im wondering who has ever experienced an issue with the kdp on a 24v? Ive read of the possibilities of the problem continuing into the early years, but Ive never personally heard of anyone thats had the issue themselves. Has anybody experienced anything, either with your own truck or a buddies or a customers vehicle perhaps?
