  1. Can you physically drive either of them to make sure your getting a good transmission? When I put my built trans from my 2000 into my 98.5 I had to change valvebodies in them other than that they were compatible.
  2. Send me your number and I will call him later tonight
  3. Do you know what year truck the auto trans came out of? I can call him and try to get some ideas from him but I know thats one of the first things hes gonna ask.
  4. Can you take a closer picture of the piece in the pan?
  5. Weve been seeing windchill temps of -30 to-40 the last few days. A pretty rude awakening considering how mild of a winter weve had up to the last week. Usually by now Lake Erie is frozen solid as of last week it was still open. I imagine this week and the following will change that. My family was home from Wyoming over the holidays we had about a foot of snow and temps in the teens at night and low to mid 20's during the day. They were amazed thats all the colder it was they said it felt much colder. Just the difference in humidity even in the winter we see 60 -70% humidity and you can really feel it in your lungs on days like today.
  6. Ahh, thats no good bub. I did the same thing once, but with a rag. I still had my factory air box at the time, pulled the filter to replace it and was cleaning the bottom of the box out while I had it apart. I dropped the new filter in, and somehow ( I still dont know how or why) I must have set the rag on top of the filter and at that point got side tracked. Came back a few minutes later, threw the lid on clamped it down and jumped in to take off. As you can imagine it sucked the rag right up and into the turbo. It completely blocked the air flow off, I had no power whatsoever. To make matters worse I didnt put 2 and 2 together and I screwed with it for hours before I figured it out. Yep, makes ya feel like a real dunce :ashamed:Whats your plans for a replacement?
  7. Ive got the Raptor 100 FRRP and so far it hasnt given me any issues. Even if I have my smarty turned all the way up and I stand on it the pressure will only drop 3 to maybe 4 psi max. I normally run on Catcher 5 and doing the same thing it will drop it 3 psi at the most so I think its more than capable of handling fuel volume on lightly modded trucks. The only down side is the lack of additional filtration it offers, not for the pumps sake but for the truck. It was all I could afford at the time as we were in the middle of buying a new house. I plan on doing injectors in the future and will add an additional set of filters before they go in. They come with a 4 year warranty, if mine makes it past the warranty Ive been thinking about replacing it with a mechanical style pump.
  8. Going to be alot easier to figure out your issue if you know what code has popped up. It sounds like it could be an APPS issue but thats only speculation. Hopefully by now you have been able to get closer to some civilization, be careful out there.
  9. Couple old pics I dug up of my 250rSome snowmobiling picsStill looking for the trusty TS and a bunch of other pictures I havent seen since we moved 3 years ago. Ill keep looking.
  10. I havent kept up very well with what you have/havent tried, but I do know when swapping my trans from my 00 to my 98.5, I had to change valvebodies out. I dont know the differences specifically, I just took it to my tranny guy (who is a friend) after I dropped it and he put the trans up on his bench and swapped out valvebodies. I know the p.o. swapped from a manual to an auto, hopefully he got the right stuff in there for the year of the truck. Ive been more than a little spoiled, any issues Ive ever had hes resolved for the cost of the parts, including when he built my trans. He really knows his stuff when it comes to Dodge transmissions. If theres any questions you may have I can certainly try to pick his brain.
  11. Why wouldnt it be worth installing a new converter? You may think about taking it to a trans specialist and ask them for a diagnosis. Would probably cost an hour or 2 shop time. Automatics can be difficult to figure out sometimes.
  12. I dont know if its the 4.0, but Ive got a few pairs of under armor for work. I hate wearing heavy Carhart bibs and coats too restrictive and limits your movement. I wear the under armor, jeans, a flannel and a heavy insulated sweatshirt outside all winter long except maybe on a few of the coldest days, like today at -9 and brutal winds. It actually didnt feel that cold if you could get out of the wind but thats pretty hard to do when its blowing 40 mph sustained and gusts over 50. Gotta love livin on the lake this time of year.
  13. Most of the guys I work with are die hard Harley guys they rag on anything else. Then the production supervisor (lifetime Harley guy) traded his in for a brand new Goldwing. Said he got tired of workin on the Harley and the Goldwing was a much better ride so he made the switch. Everybody and I mean everybody ragged on him for it. Until the day they went to bike night together and he blew every one of them "Hogs" away The poking stopped after that.
  14. Boy that picture of the TS sure brings back some memories....Ill have to see if I can dig out some old pics of mine later. Mine was in much worse shape than in your picture, especially when I got done with it
  15. Do you have the factory control arms still? Ive got a friend with either a 4 or 6" lift on his truck (cant remember which) and he had to put aftermarket control arms on to get the caster back.
  16. Came across this and had to share it. This is scary stuff guys. Pay attention to the attorney generals comments at the 2:00 mark and the warning the citizens give to Americans at the end of the clip. https-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGaDAThOHhA
  17. This is how I got a little extra adjustment out of my cableDidnt have anymore adjustment ran into the problem when I installed my built trans out of my 00 into my 98.5. The ziptie just puts alittle more tension on the cable to get the shift points a little lower like you mentioned in earlier posts
  18. :withstupid:When thinking of "the man" this one comes to mind
  19. I remember the days before the monoshock. I had a late 70s suzuki 185 2 stroke dual sport bike. It had a speedometer, lights, and turn signals and I rode that bike everywhere for 2 summers. Those atc 250r 3 wheelers were pretty wicked I had one for a short time until I destroyed the front forks. I ended up pulling the engine on it and putting it in a trx250r I had. I raced that quad locally. I also raced a CR125 I made it into the B class but that was as far as I ever made it. I used to ride alot with a fella named Trevor Vines. He grew up here locally and was one of the first guys who jumped onto the 450 thumpers in the local pro class. Everybody was baffled when he could smoke everybody in the 250 pro class. Trevor ended up moving to California where he raced pro for 2 years before jumping over to the freestyle scene where he did a ton of shoots for various magazines, competed in XGames 2 years in a row, and somehow managed to land a role as a stuntrider in the movie Charlies Angels Full Throttle. He ended up shattering his hip in a race and it ended his career and he moved back here and bought a huge chunk of property and put a mx track and a freestyle track in and puts on some really neat local events now.
  20. Thats actually a pretty good amount of trail miles more than Ive put on in the last 2 years! W&F, neat story Ive come across wildlife a few times over the years and it truly is neat to watch them in their element.
  21. That was part of the reason I bought my Rincon (other than self preservation) As Ive gotten older more and more of my friends got into sport utility quads and my 450 sat in the corner 11 months out of the year. Truth be told, we probably have more fun now than we ever did in the past. Now we actually plan rides like the one in May where we ride all day and barbeque, drink beers and hang out by the fire at night. When we were younger it was all about going fast, which usually meant breaking stuff and getting hurt.
  22. Havent really talked much about it on here but was just wondering how many of you are into trail riding? (dirt bikes, atv,s, side x sides, etc) I grew up on dirt bikes and quads. Had a handful of 125 2 strokes, but mostly 4 stroke bikes. I also had a 86 250r quad and a lt 250 quad racer. My wild days are over (have 2 kids to think about now) but I still get a thrill out of being on one. In 2005 I sold off my last sport bike and bought a new Honda Rincon 650. Its been an awesome machine. Its alot bigger than my old sport quads but not as big as alot of the monster utility quads theyve got out there today. Its like the best of both worlds for me. I can still push it if I wanna get aggressive and for the most part hang with a couple of my friends that still run the sport quads (luckily theyve all gotten a little less crazy too or Id never be able to run with them ) And I can use it to plow snow and do work around the house too. I got the little ones on them at an early age (5 yrs old) Started them out on an old Honda 70. My oldest is currently on a 90 and Im in the market for another one for my youngest. Every spring my friends and I make the trip to Hatfield Mccoy and spend several days down there riding. Here is where we are going the first weekend in May. Made the reservations last week so its a for sure thing. http://www.atvresort.com/ashland_hatfieldmccoy.php The 2nd clip is at "coal hill" a play area about 10 miles back into the bush. Only one trail in and out (that I know of) and its rough going. The video does no justice at all for the sheer size of these hills. If youre on a 250 2 stroke or a 450 4 stroke and you gotta be "in it to win it" the whole way up, thats a pretty big hill They dont look like it, but the trees at the bottom are full grown trees.
  23. What kind of wheels are those? They look sharp! I would love to be able to find a set of 4th gen wheels and run 17s in the summer months and save my Duratracs for winter and spring when Im running oil field equipment for my friend, but in the year plus Ive been looking, have not been able to find anything local. I like the looks of those wheels alot though. They look like they might have a little more offset than factory, or is it just the picture?
