Sorry for yet another thread but I just upgraded quadzilla to V2 with cord i found in junk drawer XD. So now im wondering if there is a baseline tune for Economy, Towing, and Race for a 7x.011 sac truck? or close to that?
-
Since @Me78569 and company have the tuning thread for performance side. I'm going to start the ecomony and MPG thread for the Quadzilla Adrenaline. I'll be posting up my MPG logs and all data I can provide of what I've got going on. I've been keeping hand math logs of all fuel purchased as well as my tablet running OBDII link LX and data logging from that direction too. I'll share my tunes and settings as well. hey guys n moparman, first post here i just got an email from the site suggesting my return but ive yet to post anyways ill start off with a bang.. 01 24v dodge excab 4x4 stock new vp n raptor, 86mph 2250 rpms i think forget what its governd to also have a 12v anywho pedal to the floorboard 13 psi going to the pump. idle i think 14 -17 im pretty sure. im trying to do this from memory i havent driven the truck in a week or so. so i believe it gets good FP? the gauge is taped into the shrader valve on the fuel intake banjo bolt and i recently changed the fuel filter and saw no change in numbers... regardless the truck gets 11-12 mpg around town. litterly $100 or about 22 gallons of diesel goes 250 or less miles...horrible i have 17* of timing in my 97 12v n it gets better mpg. on the bright side...winters rolling around and my coolant temp gauge is pegged on 140 and that truck doesnt get warm for sh*t...is it as simple as a stuck thermostat? im a 12v guy i no nothing about vp44,obd2... all i no is the map sensor also went in this truck and it was close to $500 no one could get it but the dealer so i dont want to have to buy anymore sensors and such...i would like to sell this truck, but of course i want to get the kinks out. thats why im here pickin you guys brains, see what we come up with. Also i dont know if this forum offers a for sale section or not i havent looked around much but i got a decent deal on this truck i believe so if anyones interested there might be another good deal to happen?! thanks all. ps- i did not proof read.

ok....I know I'm running a lifted truck with 315 tires and 4:10 gears but doesnt 13mpg still sound really bad? 120 miles of the 200 i just drove was highway at 57 mph. the rest was in city and some extended idling for warm up before driving. also, my exhaust manifold is cracked...but I don't know how much this would affect it. What do ya think?

Well gang... I've been playing with theories and ideas for long enough now its time to put them into a design and see if it actually works. We all know the 24V's seem to take a good tumble in MPG's as the winter sets in well ISX proved that with the 12V engines with static timing that MPG's don't change. Well if you look at it the only thing that could be tossing this out the window is the IAT sensor on the 24V is changing the VP44 performance. Most know that colder air produces better HP/TQ because colder air is denser and requires more fuel to keep balanced. Well if you reverse this and warm the air (in theory) the VP44 should retune and burn according to the manifold temp. So what I've done tonight is fished through my resistor pile and found 3 I'm going to use for test candidates. Orange - White - Red - Gold = 3.9K Ohm = 116*F IATRed - Violet - Red - Gold = 2.7K ohm = 132*F IATRed - Black - Red - Gold = 2.0K ohm = 148*F IAT So now tomorrow I'm going to pull 3 test runs on the same piece of highway... Seeing if the highier the IAT temp increases the MPG or not... I'll can give you something to think about... Grid heaters are NOT controlled directly by the IAT... With the 2.7K Ohm resistor in place before even starting the grid heater still where hitting as normal. So there is more to the grid heater that the IAT temps... ... On the cutting edge again...

Took my truck and trailer (trailer rated for 14000kg) and drove 3.5 hours to pick up a backhoe attachment, drove back. Filled up and checked my mileage and was very dissapointed to see the result! 11.6 mpg

Alright Mike, not trying to prove you wrong but I want to figure this out.You say cold IAT drop MPG big time on yours. You say Winter Fuel drops it.So why is it that running winter fuel with no winter front whatsoever at 25F ambient at 70mph, do I get the same 21mpg (actually 21.54mpg) that I get on a 100F day? I get consistent mileage all year, summer or winter fuel, rain snow sleet or hail. I know everyone here seems to have this "it's winter fuel, so it's ok to see 2mpg loss" but why am I not seeing this loss! I am thinking if I could figure this out, I could help you all not get a loss either.

i have a coworker that has a 07 3500 that is bone stock. he has just under 100k miles. he was complaining that he gets real poor fuel mileage. he said his best tank ever was 14MPG but is usually 10-12 empty and ~8 when pulling his cattle. he said that it doesn't have the power it did new. he was thinking about buying a used bully dog programmer. i warned him that he needs a EGT gauge before he starts adding fueling enhancers. i also suggested a compression test.also his tires were "loosing" lugs on the inside of the tread face. they were a Hankook off-road tire. i thought it was because using a off-road tire on the highway, but it was only the inside lugs. like every other one was finedoes anyone know of anything i can tell this guy?

Topped it off today and I thought it would only be 10mpg based on how I was driving. There were several long steep hills lasting maybe 1/2-3/4 of a mile and I would hold it at 65-70. I went that fast the entire way there and back. The A/C was also on full blast for the duration of the trip. That should have yielded me about 21-22mpg unloaded. This tank was with the trailer on it the whole time, did a lot of miles around jefferson city to go shopping (sisters bday). Ended up being right at 500.6 miles at the gas station and 29.013 gallons means 17.25 mpg. Sooo I'm very amazed. The trailer only weighs about 4000 but the billboard effect really loads it down. I had a quart of 2 stroke in that tank. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=210

My mileage is normally ~16 all around hwy & some city. Yesterday @ 70mph on the interstate the overhead said 16.4. Overhead on my truck is usually close to hand calculated. Regardless. I want more. I have a new SO MWFI VP.Let's start with making sure we're up to spec then mod. What get out of adjustment or wears & reduces mileage? Will start by checking:adjusting valves, cleaning IAT & MAP sensors
