While down at the P's for Christmas, I broke down and bought 2 new batteries for my truck while down there. The OEM's still seemed OK, but they were 5.5 years old and I wanted to not have a problem down the road or on the road with the old ones!!! Well, I bought the WallyWorld EverStart Maxx.....group size 65. 850CCA, 1000 CA, 3 year free replacement and 9 year prorated replacement. It's made and distributed by Excide Technologies. The OEM batteries are 750CCA. I also bought an Everstart Marine deep cycle battery this spring for the trolling motor in my boat. I did a lot of fishing this year and used that deep cycle on the trolling motor a lot. Seemed like a good battery…

I just received an extension warrantee notice for my '06 ( they said all Ram 1500 and 2500 models) multifunction turn signal switch. They said because of a potential manufacturing process variation process ? So to correct this, they are extending the warrantee of my 'switch' from original warrantee to 10 years or 150k, which ever comes first. Seems the exterior and interior turn signal lights CAN malfunction and flash opposite of what the operator selected. This is the first I've heard of this. And in all the years I've own vehicles and have known people have own vehicles, I have never heard of this.Anyone had this problem ?

My Pricol pyro started acting up this past winter, and after a few tows with it acting funny it was time to give it the boot. I really wanted a matched set, so I sold the other 4 Pricol's and ordered up a set of 5 ISSPRO EV2's. I have been wanting to change the locations of my a couple gauges and add a time delay relay for a while, so this worked out well. I had the alarms set to where I want them, which is a GREAT feature of the EV2. Boost 0-40, warning > 38 psi EGT 0-1600°, warning >1300° Fuel Pressure 0-20, warning <3 psi Oil Pressure 0-100, warning <15 psi Exhaust Backpressure 0-100, warning >65 psi The gauges came with …

I've been looking online at 3rd gen trucks for a friend and I've noticed that some trucks have a floor shifter for the transfer case and other don't have one, but the ads say that they are 4x4. So I was just wondering what thats all about? Did they have a electronic shift option or something? all the 4x4 ones I've been in personaly have the regular floor shift for the transfer case.

I finally got around to installing the coolant filter I bought at the end of last year. I tried to install it when I did my coolant flush in December, but I couldn’t find a plumbing/mounting option I was happy with, so the filter went back on the shelf. I finally figured out where to mount it last month when I was installing my Home Depot CAI, the bracket fits perfectly on the bumper bracket behind the fog light, and there is plenty of room for hoses to run. I had heard in passing that the block offered lower coolant pressure than the head, and that there was a coolant port behind the oil filter. Last week when I was getting my cam installed I confir…

Well my reliability factor just dropped to a new low this morning. Went to go start the 05 this morning which has sat for a few weeks turned on the key and got nothing but a lot of clicking from all over the pickup, new the inevitable had finally come. 11+ years and close to 130K on OEM batteries and they were down to 10v each, didn't even bother to charge them i knew they were getting a bit week the last 2 years already, went to town for a new set if Interstates, had to lower my standards and open my wallet for that one but it was too late in the day for my normal parts house of choice, sometimes one just has to swallow hard and hope for the best.

Ok... so as i get going down the road, my truck wants to jump in rpm's erratically, and the tranny feels like its surging? the check engine light wasn't on and today i got what some call a "Dead Pedal" the check engine light came on and it snapped right back... it feels like it just doesn't know which gear it should be in? im so confused ive been online looking for days... ive read it could be many things From the TPS, a Torque Converter to a Ground or even a solenoid. Im so confused :banghead:, and I just bought the truck. I have always wanted a cummin's, I just hope I didn't buy a lemon PLEASE if anyone has had or heard of this I really need some insight here. Thanks H…

Can anyone shed some light on what you would expect the rpm increase would be at 65mph when swapping out 3.73's for some 4.10's. I've towed trailers over 10k on some decent hills with the 3.73's and it did well but I'm curious how much better 4.10's would do. Obviously there is some mechanical advantage in play but how much of a difference would I see. Thanks guys. Love this Forum

I have recently changed my fuel filter and now the truck will not start. During this process my fuel gauge is now not working. Mine has been retrofitted with the pump in the tank . On the fuel pump relay I have 12v on pin 30 but when I try to crank no voltage at pin 85 or 86 I can jump 12v from pin 30 to 87 and the pump will run. Any help is appreciated

On the 04 it is showing a P0088. Says fuel rail/system pressure-too high. The next code is a: P0251 injection pump fuel metering control A(cam/rotor/injector). Any ideas on what these error codes represent? What do we need to do to get these cleared out of the system? Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi guys/gals... Last summer (camping trip) I had an issue with a band anchor coming off and wedging itself in linkage.. this was coming up an incline and tranny made a slamming jolt from first to second. Long story short... local tranny guy reattached band/anchor. Drove home with camper and everything seemed okay. This lasted about a month... then it starting doing this double hit into second (like it didn't grab the first time).. then as tranny got warm I'd completely lose first gear. So.. when I first start out.. drives fine.. as it starts to warms (10-15 mins).. double hit first to second.. then when warm loses first gear. So.. winter came and I just parke…

As you know, I'm perfectly happy with my Smarty Revo SO6. As you know also, I run SW5 default setting 99.9% of the time. And I'm happy with the performance/results/mileage etc. Part of the reason I was reluctant to "upgrade" my Smarty was that I had an "ancient" computer; and I wasn't sure I could count on a "complete" download. I've now got a "modern" computer and can access do stuff my old one couldn't. This is my question……………….and I've been running SW5 almost exclusively since I got the Smarty. What, if anything, will I gain by downloading a "later" version of the software? Would SW5 be better or worse as far a mileage goes??? I'm not interes…

I simply would like an educated opinion about the reliability of a 03,04 vs 98-2002.......(also which 3rd gen year is the most reliable) The truck will be used to pull a camper and some daily driving. I have owned a 2002 6 speed, so I know common issues with these trucks....vp44, auto trany ect.... I know there are many variables, such as, how the truck has been taken care of. But are the common problems between the years a wash? ....I have read about injector issues in the 3rd gen. I have been looking for a truck for about a month, I have read so much that I have confused myself. So I thought I would come here to get some opinio…

Well I made the trip down to Parma ID with Thor. All I can say is I'm not impressed at all for towing. This happens to be the slowest truck for towing my 2000 Jayco Eagle RV. EGTs are high even running flat ground it's 800 to 1000°F at 65 MPH. Climb any hill with cruise set at 60 MPH it would trip my pyrometer alert light. Thor is a 2006 Dodge 3500 SRW, 6 speed transmission with a Valair Quiet Towing Dual Disc Clutch. 3.73 gears and 4WD. There are +50 HP DAP injectors. Now ive got performance issue vs EGTs. Cold start its got a miss or rough idle till warmed up I'm suspecting that there is a cylinder with washed rings but not enough to bother the o…
