  1. I know the 3 cyl mode helps warm the engine quicker due to the load put on the engine, so...If I put the truck in gear and keep my foot on the brake am I doing any harm to the trans if I let it idle like that for 5-10 minutes? What about if I do the same thing but bump the idle to 1200 rpm or so? Is that hard on the tranny or any of the parts?Sorry if it's a dump question. I only know the basics when it comes to how auto transmissions work.Thank you!

Has any of you had this problem? My wipers don't park back to normal position after using washer fluid function, and also the intermittent selection malfunction sometime. I'll set it to low speed but it will almost be on high and sometimes ok. And for the wipers to be at park position, I have to catch them at that point and shut the switch off. I had similar problem happen on a different vehicle and after changing wiper control on steering wheel it didn't help and ended up being a wiper motor. Where should I look first? Thank you.

  4. Hey all,I have had my oil filter head leaking for awhile all over the side of the block, so it is time to pull it off and replace the gaskets. I looked in the FSM for some guidance on what to do, but no luck. Is there anything special I need to be aware of besides draining the coolant? I bought 2 paper gaskets from cummins (the parts guy advised me that is all I should need). I figure the proper torque on the bolts should be 18ftlbs based on the size of the fasteners. Thanks,Chris

I hate to ask this but I am searched out and don't know what the issue could be. The last couple of times out my truck has developed a weird pulsating, choking, issue while driving. It mostly happens when I am going highway speeds 60-65 and gently get in to the throttle a little more to get up a hill or pass someone. This happens when towing and not towing. If i back out of it it will stop, If I roll into the accelerator more it goes away. It has become a consistent problem. It is the truck in my sig line. So far I 've gone and checked codes.(key trick) Got the 1693 Companion code, had the codes read at autozone and nothing popped up. fuel pressure is consistent at 16 ps…

So I recently got back into messing with my truck, and I've been messing with quad. Starting logging what my truck was doing with "hot" tunes, noticed I wasn't building boost beyond 18psi. It would build up to 18, then drop to 14-15psi. I suspected boost leak, so I made a janky boost leak tester (which failed epically), and found a tiny leak on the right side boot going into the inter-cooler. My former diesel professor suggested I use a smoke machine to check for leaks, which I did, and didn't find anything. I went ahead and ordered a cheap set of silicone boots for my truck anyway. I reused my old t-clamps, and although they were a huge pita to put on, I got…

Been haveing problems for a long time. The eng. surges eradict but only slightly. When at hwy speed say 65 you let off and rmp get to about 1500 then put it in nuteral rpm drop quick to about 700 then pick back up,if A/C is on it almost dies. No white smoke no black smoke fuel mileage is normal. And when you rev up the eng. then it starts droping it has a little rev up right before idle. I here common rail motors do this, why would a vp motor do this. I changed the inj. to 75 hp and it started this so I had rv 275's rebuilt and put them back in and still the same no change.I dont no if this means anything but rpm gauge bounces a little at idle. Also I loosen inj. lines so…

I see a bunch of debate topics about this brand vs that brand, but I have a more specific question. It looks like I'm needing a new manifold Currently stock, looking at the ATS 1 piece PulseFlow. Of course as sales points they claim: more performance, faster turbo spool, lower egts etc... My question.. which of these are true and which are false? Anyone have any real data? I see on a couple of posts that people claim actually spooling slower and loosing overall power using a more open manifold over stock? At what injector size does a larger manifold actually make sense? Runnin DAP +75hp injectors and an S300 turbo. Should I just hunt for a stock repl…

  9. On my 01 Cummins it only has code P0216. I turned off my Edge Comp box and cleared the code and test drove it. It was still lacking power when cold (not making boost), and it popped 0216 again. I wanted to rule out that the Comp Box maybe causing the issue. Would I need to actually unplug the Edge Comp box map sensor and plug the OEM harness to the map sensor and unplug the Edge tuner, instead of just turning it off, as a true bypass test to rule out the Edge Comp box causing the timing issue? The previous owner did tell me that he ran it low on fuel pressure from the lift pump once and changed the fuel filters on the FASS 165. Lift pump pressure …

  10. I had the impression (obiviously erroneous) that mice didn't like diesel intakes. WRONG!! I've been holding off the BHAF install, waiting until the AC & heater repair gets done, so rather than the BHAF get bunged up by the shop (cracked the cover the last time... never told me... I did a super-glue repair). So the first shop didn't even start the job, so I brought the truck home & made an appointment elsewhere. For some reason I decided to pull the stock air box & at least start the BHAF install. Like it says in the title, the stock airbox was full of trashed sound-deadening insulation. I'd already removed & thrown away the under hood blanket …

So I'm going to replace X-over tube o-rings and I have conflicting info, Book says torque injectors install tubes torque injector lines, I have read on this forum leave injectors loose (snug but not torqued), install tubes, torque lines, then torque injectors? Is one method better than the other? I understand reasoning, to help center tube on injector. Is the book overly confident that one could put the injector in the proper position the first time? I want to hear from people that have done it. Thanks

Well on the way home last night I decided to get on the skinny pedal some on the onramp. Truck pulled great egt's nice no issues, let out of it somewhat fast and barked the turbo and BAM lost my RPM gauge, CEL pops on.....ugh, Truck drives fine all the way home so I thought eh who knows. Last night I decided I also wanted to load a new tune onto my ADR to try and clean up some of the low end smoke if I am on it. I have extra fuel thanks to the DFI injectors so I don't really need the aggressive tuning down low. So I load the factory tune back onto the ADR. Jump in the truck this morning and my Quad says my Boost is at 11 PSI …

It's time to add head studs and I know I'm getting new, stronger valve springs as well. Is there anything else you all would recommend doing at this time as well??

Having a drivability problem (98.5/24V/4sd auto/4x4/4.10 gear) I’m losing about 200 rpms at speed. Feels like its losing torque converter lock up at about 70 mph. Lock up is obvious and strong at 45 mph but at 70 the rpms will fluctuate between 2100 and 2400 with no change in speed. Changed out the tcc solenoid/over drive solenoid, governor solenoid and governor pressure sensor no change. Installed manual tcc switch, sitting still, truck in drive flipped the switch and killed the engine but no change in lock up at speed. Some lose in fuel economy, about 1mpg. Took it to a transmission shop they said they couldn’t find anything wrong, computer commands lock up at the right…

  17. Hey guys I have to put a vp44 in a friends truck this weekend and he was wondering about a pressure gauge or a light? I told him that a gauge works great but if you are not always looking at it it does you no good, so he dicided on a light. So my question is has anyone made one up themself or do you just buy one from someone? Thanks:thumbup2:

  18. So I'm in the process of putting the truck back together and I ran into an issue. My fass draw straw is oof the old design, the new fittings I got for my fass don't work with the fass95. So I was going to take the inner during on the draw straw and use that on the fass pump. But that leaves my draw straw. I was looking at getting the Fass Sump kit since it allows you to draw from the inside of the bowl. Being here in Jersey I don't foresee any issues with hitting brush, etc that could cause it it be knocked out. I refuse to use a sump that requires an external hose, as I'm currently dealing with an enlarged hole for my old draw straw. If your won…

Put my 2001, 47re with 2nd gear lock up to the test this past weekend. My rig with 5r weighs 17,600 lb. I navigated parts of the 6% Grapevine canyon on I-5. The trans worked flawlessly. On grades I would lock into 2nd push her up to 2000 rpm and flip the torque converter lockup switch. The oil would heat to 210f while pushing up to 2000rpm. After lockup trans oil cooled to 180, eng temp, and stay there. The grade and load took all the 235hp at 2700rpm I had with skinny pedal flat on the floor. Going down same grades decelerating, I had the same result. Just love that mod. Strongly endorse the 2nd gear lock up mod.-

Hey, anyone have an opinion on a good "all round" chip for my 02 Ram? I don't want a tuner or the ability to adjust on the fly or anything like that, I just want good fuel milage and maybe a bit more torque and HP if that is a by product. There seems to be so many and prices are all over the place with them. I have been kind of looking at the Quadzilla Max Mileage. Anyone had any expierience with that particular product? I know there are plenty of different manufacturers but I like the USB update feature.
