This morning I started my truck like normal, waited for the wts light to go out and she fired up. Took a couple more rounds than normal. Grid heater cycled like always. Get in and get ready to roll and I see the CEL. I shut her down and check the code. 1291 and that companion code as well. 1693 or something like that. So I turned the key and wts came on and went off after about 6 secs. Started up did fine I went on. Got to work (35min drive) and shut her down. Turned the key and the wts stayed on just like it sat all night. Turned it off and back on and it went off with the rest of the lights. Same thing today after work. So what do I need to look at first? Could it …

I kind of touched on this in another thread but can't remember which one or find it so here we go. Sorry for rehashing this. I did the basic W-T ground mod and installed a 150amp breaker between the alt. and passenger side battery. The breaker seemed to trip early (it was a cheapo from Amazon $12 made in china) but prior to the mod not once did it ever fry the 140amp OEM fuse which leads me to believe that the breaker is sub-par. So my question is: Which 150amp breakers are you all using with no problems? I have no tuner or major mods for that matter, basically stock truck, original alternator with about 148k on it. Need to get this done since it is…

I have less than 10,000 miles on some DAP 50hp injectors but as many of you have said, always go bigger! I purchased some DAP 8 x 0085/100hp nozzles and put them on my stock/factory bodies that had less than 60k on them. A local FI shop checked out the bodies, installed the nozzles and popped them at 310. The increase in power going from the 50's to the 100's seemed greater than going from the stockers to the 50's. It has a nice little puff of smoke when you get on it from a standstill but is otherwise smoke free. I really want the power to kick in when needed up at cruise speed and I'm trying to pass some farm truck on the rural highway that is doing 53mph ( I call it th…

i've been noticing things over time, and tried to explain them away.last summer the truck dies not very often when i use the jake and make a shift down to 3rd. did that like three times. then winter comes, and i use the 3cyl idle and the jake, and the truck doesn't stay running. turn the jake off, and egts are only at 200* in 3cyl idle, and the snap of that idle isn't there either, it really only sounds like high idle.last week it died on my 5 times in a day with the jake on and that downshift into 3rd.you guys think it is my vp44? it has 123k on it and i believe it to be original. i've treated it to fuel pressure and 2 stroke oil since i've owned it, but that's only been…

First, this problem only happens after it sits over night. If it sits 10-12 hours during the day it starts right up. Second, I have no codes, cleaned the battery terminals and used dieelectric grease on the the fuel pump electrical wires. Third, checked the 40 amp fuel fuse at the PCM.Fourth, fuel pressure is 17 psi at idle and driving and 15 psi at WOT. This problem is on a 99 2500 4X4 auto with an Edge EZ and a Raptor 150 pump. I believe it is an electrical problem. Here is the problem: turn the key in the morning, pump energizes, start the truck up and it runs for approx. 10 sec., shuts off, turn the key off and then back on- you don't hear the pump energize, turn the …

My county currently does not require emission testing for renewals each year. But they are talking about it now. Should I be worried or has anyone had problems with the test.

I wired up my high idle fooler according to moparman's diagram. With the IAT harness hooked back onto the sensor and just the coolant temp fooler on, the engine will still hit the 3 cylinder mode and the temp outside is around 34 degrees F. If I understand the system right this shouldn't be happening at temps this warm. Can somebody give me some ideas?

Ok guys, I'm lost with this issue. Every now and then (very, very random issue) the truck will die when I push the clutch in and give me codes P1691, P0121, and P1693. Here's where it gets weird. Sometimes, the truck will rev up to 2k rpm by itself and die, giving me all three codes listed above. Other times, it will just die, and only give me the P1691 and P1693 codes. And then, it has been known to rev up by itself when I am shifting, but when I complete the shift, it starts acting normally again. Every time this happens, after about 1-3 minutes max with the key off, the truck will reset itself and start right up. Until then, you can turn it over but it wil…

When I went to Council, ID to pick up part for a fire truck my buddy that I work with requested a 5 gallon pail of part solvent. When the part counter man brought out the pail it was clearly marked "Stoddard Solvent" on the side of the pail in bold black lettering. Now knowing all that I know in fuel additives I know there is a few fuel additves with this in it... But remember that this chemical has a few different names... Here is the Wikipedia pages on it... Mineral Spirits http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mineral_spirits Stoddard Solvent http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoddard_solvent So be aware there is some fuel additives like MMO that include this…

Hey guys looks like I fried my trans this weekend coming back from a great camping trip. I’m looking at rebuilding the transmission with the help of a good friend and certified tech. My question is I’m not sure how much power I’m pushing and how much I should build the trans. I do not plan to add any more power to the truck than what I have now. If any maybe 200hp injectors instead of my 125s. I have been looking at the ATS master overhaul kit or a suncoast category 2 kit. Anybody have info on either of these kits or know of a better kit?

So after hauling home a new 5th wheel project today, I noticed that my new transmission gauge seemed inop. I tore down the dash and found the tap splice I used may have had an intermittent connection ( I hate those things) so I switched out a butt connector and that seemed to fix it. As I was there putting the dash back together, I figured I'd check the trouble codes for fun. It spit out the following: P0622 P0743 P1693 P1765 Now I had noticed wayyy back in fall that the trans had shifted in and out of OD on the highway a few times on a few separate days but quit. I have since then installed a lockup switch on the dash. Would the lockup switch cause the co…

Hi all I'm new to the forum and this is my first cummins truck. 1999 3500 It's completely stock aside from the vp44 and my newly installed raptor FRRP 100gph lift pump. The vp44 isn't a hotrod as far as I know I believe it's a stock replacement, previous owner had it done. The truck runs fine at any speed, matter of fact it has more pulling power and better throttle response so I'm reluctant to say my VP is bad? My issue is it is very hard to start after installing my raptor. The morning previous to install, it started perfectly fine, fired extremely fast, got home from work did the install and it's been hard to start ever since. I have to give it some throttle otherwise…

Hey all, back again! lol So, I got my DAP 150's in and there seems to be yet another issue. Truck sat for a few weeks and then I got to doing the injectors and changed the oil and filter (had a lot of fuel in the oil). Put 3 gallons in, got the truck started (checked oil level before, was above operating range) and truck drove and ran great with the new injectors. Was getting about 60-70 PSI cold and once she was warm she was at about 40, but then she went to about 35-38 while cruising at 60. At the stop light, It was right above the lower limit line on the dash gauge. Got to my destination ASAP and shut her down. Looked for major leaks or anything and didn't…

When I left work today, truck worked fine. I came to a stop after exiting the interstate and when I went to go the truck seemed real sluggish. Everything felt fine once I was rolling, but moving from a dead stop the truck would smoke and slowly start rolling. Once I got closer to home I realized I had no first gear, even if I put the selector in low, it still starts in 2nd. The transmission was rebuilt by a reputable shop back in August, has maybe 10k miles and supposed to be good for 650hp. I'm not rough on my truck and haven't even towed with it yet. It does have a 3 year 100k mile warranty so I'm not worried about getting it fixed. I am curious if there is anyth…
