So, weather sucks. It's like 4°F here with wind chills of -25. Truck won't start. I though it was gelled up. Poured power service in the tank, went to pour some in the filter housing and the fuel in there is fine. I reinstalled the filter top. Still no start. Put a fuel pressure test gauge on it and no fuel pressure. truck was plugged in, ran fine before thos cold weather, plenty of fuel pressure before also. Is it possible the lift pump froze?

  2. Hello Guys, New to the forum. Recently bought a cab swapped 2001 24v 5.9 6 speed with a 15x VP pump. I bought the truck not running and dont really know alot about the mods that have been done to it. It does have an edge tuner and a dual turbo installed as well. I have replaced the VP44 and still have a no start. I have bled the return line banjo and 1, 3 and 4, to the point of flowing good. I have 20psi coming off the fass lift pump dropping to 10psi while cranking. I do have power and ground at the vp plug. I have also tested continuity and grounds from ECM and PCM. Replacing the VP44 did change the sound while cranking. Before it was jus…

Good day! I have a friend with a cummins 2000 4wd auto, about 230k miles and he’s got the following codes: P1693 (I know it’s a companion code) P0602 ( I think his smarty tuner throws this?) P0252 The truck cranks but does not fire, no fuel Comes when he cracks the injector lines, fuel pressure is about 19 psi at the Vp. Is the P0252 a typical death code for the Vp or is there something else that can cause this? Best regards Niklas Hansen

  4. my truck will not start sometimes, just crank over. i have fuel pressure, 5 minutes later it starts fine.i thout it was the vtss but since i am sure its not.now it shuts off going down the road.after reading mopar mans threads and talking to him im thinking the ecm. i did the key trick and i got the pdone only once, so i dont think the ecm is communicating with the pcm/community network.thanks mopar man for the help yesterday! does anyone have any suggestions because im good at the mechanical aspects but know just enough with the electrical system to get lost.thanks for your help!:banghead:

Strapped for cash so I pulled a VP44 off a spare engine. It is a Magnum 24-4015. But when I spin the shaft it sounds like a ball bearing clicking. Kind of like a valve opening and closing when it hits each injector line port. It's been rebuilt at sometime because the pump is much cleaner than the engine is. Not sure if that is normal or if it shouldn't make any noises when spun over. Also would it be worth while to send it out to be bench tested.

Evening everyone!I had a weird observation yesterday that was out of the norm. here it goes.normally on my engine when i startup cold with ambient temps around 75F it will idle around ~28psi max. (for testing only) when revved cold at same ambient temp it will hit maybe ~65psi max.last night sitting in the garage at work i started it up and it was around 75ambient and idle psi was 40-42, revved to test it peaked at 80+!driving home i kept an eye on it and once fully warmed up it went to normal, 25 stabel at idle and 59-62 revved to test. appx 2000rpm.tonight i changed the filter from cheapo to the usual purolator pure one with the grippy crap on it to see if there was som…

  8. I get some crazy wheel hop from a dead stop if I hit it hard...bucks crazy.....then a shutter or vibration when shifting 2nd to 3rd when accelerating hard....not just in a turn either....almost feels the same as the hop, just lighter. You can feel and hear it thru the dash.....never from first to second.....just second to third......probably torque converter and not more wheel hop huh?

Ever since its warmed up, that gear hunting has come back. It's even worse now. Just out of curiosity, i called a transmission shop and asked them. They said it could be one or both governor pressure solenoid or a check ball in the valve body. How likely is that? It seems temperature dependant, which baffles me. Is the consensus still AC noise from the alternator?

  11. To remove wheel bearings you must first get to them.I left one tire on the ground the other i used a jack stand to get it off the ground. The rotor can be a major pain.I use a air hammer with a dime size bit and hammer around the lugs. Some times this works. If the rotors are trashed just beat them. You will crack them but if there trashed and you are going to replace them then it is no biggie. You need to remove the brake caliper and the bracket that holds it.Be careful not to bend the dust cover it is sandwitched between the wb and the housing.Use a bungie or a coat hanger to hold up the caliper out of the way. The axle nut should stay on.Remove the 4 bolts 1/2 way out tha…

  13. Hi there, I've searched Google, this forum, Cummins forum, and TDR without luck - if this is a dumb or repeat question I apologize in advance! The previous owner of my Dodge put the Autometer FP sender between the fuel filter and the line to the VP. The sender failed, I ordered a new one plus the snubber to prevent the premature wear on that part. Problem: the FP sender is angled such that the back butts up against the drain valve and the snubber definitely will not fit. I'm pretty scared of messing up the VP and don't want to tinker around without the advice/recommendations from more experienced folks! Can I rotate the sender/fitting so it doesn't stick…

so it was sooner or later that my master cylinder for the clutch would start to leak from having a stronger pressure plate installed with the valair clutch. i didnt have the funds to swap it out but now i have to and will get parts from somewhere soon. anyone have any suggestions?

  15. I guess I never really thought about it, I believe I read it was an hy35 and then in 2003 when the switch up to the CR stock was the hx35...I know I've heard alot of good things about em and I was wonderin what would be a good/my best option for upgrading my turbo...Can the hx be a direct swap?

  16. Guys,A bit of input please. I am very interested in purchasing an exhaust brake. I see that there are some that will work with my existing vacuum system and some that use compressed air..... Not certain that I want to add a compressor and associated cost.(boy it seems nice and would work for the arb in the future....) My question mainly revolves around the connection to the exhaust. I need to replace my exhaust, and I was looking at the 4" diamond eye. Many of the lesser cost Exhaust brakes I am finding (Jacobs, Banks etc...) Say works with stock exhaust only. (I am looking at the elbow type brakes.) Since the Diamond eye would replace a "stock" exhaust, woul…

Yesterday I had a horrible vibration while braking so when I got home I pulled the front tires and found my pads and rotors where shot. I've only had the truck a little over 6 months and never checked them (my fault). So, I went to NAPA and spent $250 on rotors, pads, seals, and grease. I started w/ the passengers side first since it was the worst. I cleaned and repacked the wheel bearings and installed the new rotor (my truck is 2WD). When I went to install the new pads and the caliper they simply would not fit. I compressed the piston in the caliper w/ a c-clamp as far as it would go and still couldn't get it to fit. Now I'm thinking my caliper is bad, the piston i…

Hey has anyone had problems with reading error codes with a ScanGauge II? I'm kind of wondering about this. Being that I got one and had a guy stop me and ask about error codes on his 2001 Dodge Cummins. Well I did the scan with the SG II and came up with only 1 code a P0216 (yeah the death code). But the owner asked me if there was a way to do it without a scanner? So I should hime the key trick... Guess what??? The SG II missed a bunch of codes!!! PPCU - P1693, P0500, P1682 PECU - P0522, P0523, P0216, P1693... :ahh: Felt like a dumb arse standing in front of a guy with a tool I swear by that missed the entire boat load of codes... So have any of you had this occur …

Ok here's the scoop, About a couple weeks ago my 98' 24 valve started stumbling and cutting out, now today she just up and died. It was as if I reached down and turned the key off. Brought it to a garage and he pulled up the following codes: P1688, P0237, P1693, & P1388. I have no clue what's goin on with it, getting married in 18 days and didn't need this :ahhh:Any ideas??Lucky
