I was lurking around the interwebs this evening and found a guy selling a used 47re out of a 99 2500 with the V10. He claims it was rebuilt 3000 miles ago and with a torque converter and valve body swap would bolt up to the 24v, can anyone confirm that? I'm looking at have some transmission upgrades done in the coming year and can't really afford to have my truck sit for days on end while a shop does the work. So I was thinking about buying a used 47re and having it built then swap it out with whats in the truck now.

  3. I took my 2002 HO cummins with the 6 speed manual transmission to the dealer the to have the 3 and 6 cylinder high idle enabled . They said it was to warm to try it but said it was enabled . I've had a chance to test it in -18C, or 0F. Nothing happened after 10 minutes. I called them and they said my remote starter and alarm probably isn't letting it work. Has anyone else ran into this or heard this?

Got my studs in the mail today! Popped it open to look it over... I have a couple questions. Instructions say to chase the threads. Where can I get a chaser? Auto parts store? Do any of our studs protrude into the water jackets? Should I use Loctite? The studs are hand tightened, then the "Nuts" are torqued? Says to incrementally torque in three steps and make a final torque to 125 ft. lbs. What do I make the first 2 rounds for in torque? Also included is an illustration showing that I have to machine the rocker cover at stud 24, is this necessary? Anything else I need to know about installing these? (D'oh! Just realized I said AEP not ARP.…

  6. thank you for looking, this is my first post after joining this forum. I have owned this CTD for a few months after purchasing it from a private seller and is my first diesel. my problems currently have started with loaning the truck to my younger brother to take to school. He left the lights on all day and came back to a dead truck. I believe while having jumper cables hooked up he was able to crank it over but had no start. it is cold but i filled with winter blend the night before, no gauges installed yet but i have a FASS titanium. my brother determined the alternator was bad (not sure how), it was bench tested as 'good' from O' Rileys although they do not te…

Changed out a perfectly running HOVP44, for a SOVP44. Reason for the change was to help out in the top end, truck specs are: 2002 ram 2500, BD R700 twins, SAC 7x12 injectors (DAP), Airdog 200, springs & pushrods, arp 425's. We can't seem to keep the truck running now, impossible to start when hot, (starts fine cold), and if we immediately let off the throttle it dies. The SOVP44 was purchased from DAP. Batteries are brand new, full tank of fuel, no codes, timbo apps reset, blead the whole fuel system 4 times (high n low pressure), tried dropping the fuel pressure from 18psi all the way down to 12psi, no help, also pulled the Airdog fuse. Any advise would be grea…

I recently had my stock lift pump go out, I was told to go with the DRRP because it is wasn't not chipped. Well now I am wanting to put a Edge Comp box on for Milage increase as well as a little increase in power. Will it work? My truck 99 cummins 2500, quad cab, 4x4, short bed, K&N cold air intake, looks like three and half inch straight pipe, Hx35 turbo wastegate not plugged, It does have bigger injectors between 40-75 hp not sure though. Tranny rebuilt 22k miles ago triple disc torque converter.

  9. Title says it my truck was properly stored in a heated garage and hasn't started in about a year and a half. referring to the 99 ram in my signature Concerns are traditional v8's you would change and then prime the oil system on fresh rebuild or long storage obviously an oil change is in order do I need to prime the oil system? I have a brand new turbo with 3k miles on it that is the highest point of the pressured oiling system do I have anything to worry about Fuel system, filters will be changed and system primed anything special with injectors or the vp44? I think that about covers it, the cab is going back on today so first start won't be for about a week yet bu…

  10. Living in North Carolina we don't frequently see extremely low temps but last year we had a few weeks that went as low as 8 degrees. I don't think they sell winterized diesel here, at least I can't find anything that says they do. I'm wondering at what temp should I use and anti-gel supplement? Also, I always run 2-stroke oil in my fuel. Is it safe to run anti-gel with the 2-stroke when necessary?

Yesterday, hauled some cattle home, and our sand is pretty dry.. and LOOSE. So, normally I'd kick it into 4x4 as we get close to the load out area. I've learned to kick it in at least 100 yards before expecting the light to come on. Sometimes it comes on immediately, and sometimes I have to stop...back up a little. No matter, yesterday, Nuttin. Crawled under to see if any vac lines were off. All ok. I need to pop the hood to check the vac supply.. although my hvac doors work ok. I did notice the Vacuum motor on the axle disconnect was 'loose'. Not quite floppy, but easy to turn on it's nipple t…

Well. I went to pass a Sunday driver going up a hill. Doing 50 in a 65 .. i passed him up got on the throttle a bit a she just kept taking off until I was able to slam the throttle few times.... it could have been real ugly because I came real close to rear ending few cars and it's raining. I did notice today the Trans searching for overdrive or whatever gear... just jumping in and out . Also my data console up above the rear view said CCD.. last week I reset the APPS wich helped my shifts a lot smoother and made a huge driveability difference. .. i need help on this fellas. I have the $$ to fix it right the first time. That's it.. thanks in advance. …

This morning it was -9deg Fahrenheit and I believe it got down below -16 last night. I don't have any fuel additive in my truck as I only run 2 stroke oil. I was able to get the fuel inside the filter warm enough to get me to school with 10 psi of fuel pressure . After some classes I went and bought some diesel 911, and poured a little more than the suggested amount into the tank. The fuel pressure returned to normal as expected. Will having the 2 stroke and diesel 911 in the tank together hurt anything?? Is there a different additive I should use during the winter instead of 2 stroke? Or should combine 2 stroke with something else during the winter? I know plugging it i…

I have now replaced the seals in my vacuum pump twice and its still leaking. I got the kit from Gould Gear. The coupler drive gear has been replaced on the vacuum pump side and I bought a rebuilt PS pump which also has a new coupler drive. In theory that means there's a new surface for the seal to mount against. It shouldn't be leaking. I'm pissed and its driving me crazy. Any suggestions?

I had starting problems after a clutch switch went bad, I was out of town for work and the vehicle sat for a few months. I just put in fresh oil and added cetane supplement to a mostly full fuel tank. should I drain the old fuel and get fresh fuel? First time it has started since October. Thanks and sorry if this is a dumb question

I was on a road trip this weekend when my check engine light came on. I pulled over and did the key trick just to see what I could find. It came up with these: P0500 P1687 P0237 I know the P0500 code is probably from spinning the tires on some gravel or something. The other 2 have me wondering though. I have noticed some slight power issues lately that I didn't realize could be MAP related but its almost like the sensor is coming and going. Sometimes I can black out the sky and sometimes it feels like about 1/2 power. I haven't disconnected the comp yet to see if that effects anything. I will do that tonight and clear the codes. As for the 1687, what doe…

Ok all, as I may be in the market for another VP, what are the differences in the VP pumps? I have a 6 speed manual truck. Will any other pumps fit on this engine? I keep hearing that the automatic transmission pumps are different, then there is a SO and HO pump/engine. Truthfully am almost out of $$ to spend on this truck and hoping to find a used pump off of a wrecked truck, and need to know what would work and not. Thx, FT
