I have some oil leaks in some usual places such as the tappet cover, vacuum pump, and maybe the front cover and /or the front main seal. The other day I noticed some oil coming around from the rear of the engine. I thought it was from the valve cover but upon further inspection it appears that it is coming from between the head and the block. I looked at it with a mirror and can see the joint between the two has a wet oily line. the oil is migrating down and onto the block. About 4 months ago I blew my radiator climbing the mountain and briefly overheated the engine(my fault), could this be a by product of the incident and I almost blew my head gasket or could there be a…

I don't think its a head gasket (think its lower) ........ and don';t think its draining from the tappet cover as its too far forwad (and actually looks newish) ..... freeze plug or something ?? How hard to take off the starter motor ............. ? So I can get a better look at it Just disconnect batteries and 4 or 5 bolts etc ?? thx

Hi, I was woundering if anyone can help me diagnose a oil leak it started after I had my vp44 replaced on a 2000 5.9. It is just pouring oil out fromm some where on the front of the motor on the drivers side I have tried cleaning the motor to see where it’s coming from. I have already replaced the front seal the crank seal and I have rebuilt the vac pump. I looked around the vp44 checking for a leak but it is dry all the way around is there something I am missing. Thank you

I found an oil leak a week ago or so. The bolts around the oil filter adapter/cooler were a touch loose. Today I removed the oil filter to gain access and checked them all. A few of them I got a 1/4 turn on till tight. I know they should be torqued but I don't own an inch/lb wrench.......yet. I took pics before and after.....

I've been leaking oil from the drivers side of the motor and my fear was the tappet cover which I just replace..... But turns out the oil is coming from a port in the block just below the motor mount. (see picture). My question.... Is this threaded? or was there a plug or something in the hole that maybe blow out? And how do I keep this from happening again?

So I'm installing a new exhaust manifold (you'd be surprised how many issues you can run into doing this simple job) and this is what I find. Is this enough oil for me to be concerned?

First off im new to this site but ive found lots of useful info on here which has lead me to creating an acount. ok to begin i just rebuilt my vac pump, but im still getting a leak from that general area. i think its coming from the crankcase vent tube, i also noticed when i had the intercooler pipe off there was oil in there which makes me think my turbo is leaking? but would that make it come out of the vent tube? It only leaks out after driving a while. i checked for blow by today and didnt find any. i also saw that it smokes white out the vent tube. to add some more to it I re-oiled my K&N filter 3k miles ago and i think i might have used alittle much on it could …

My injection pump just went out and am in the process of ordering a replacement. I have pulled it once to replace side cover gasket because it was leaking oil. But it's still leaking oil from there and somehow oil is reaching the fan and getting blown everywhere. I don't know if its leaking somewhere else too. So one way or another, since I will have the vp44 off, I'm going to replace the side cover gasket again. Should I use a butt load of RTV next time, or buy a different brand of gasket?

Hello, I have a guys 2001 Dodge that is losing about two to three quarts of oil out the breather tube in 50 miles. This tube comes out the side of the lifter/pushrod cover. The truck runs fine and is not underpowered but there is also a good deal of blow by coming out the oil fill at the rocker cover. Right off the bat I’m thinking bad rings but I’ve read some other forums that said a bad vacuum pump could cause this also. It started happening all of a sudden which causes me concern that it might be a vacuum pump if that can cause it. Thoughts?

Since I blew my serp belt I've noticed I'm dripping some oil spots. Maybe the overheated situation caused some kind of change to the gaskets? Any ideas?

Checked the puke box nothing wrong with it. What the heck is going on???:banghead: Is there another vent for the crank I am missing? Or could it be the vacuum pump again? How do I get the oil pan off my truck? The gasket has been leaking for a while and it's made a serious mess under there:duh: So I loosened the engine mounts and lifted the front of the engine as high as it would go. Still not enough clearance underneath to slide the pan out. What do I need to do to get it done?
