So I have had the first major problem with my 02 2500. Got the truck out Saturday afternoon to go to a church dinner. Get ready to leave the dinner and my truck won't start. When I key-on the ignition I don't hear the FASS kick on, then I notice the wait to start is flashing. So obviously I am assuming the worst, a dead ECM. The truck would just crank and crank and crank. Call for tow and of course it will be awhile, so I leave the truck and wait at home. (A side note, before I left the house that day when I first got in the truck and turned the key on, the FASS was delayed in kicking on. Thought it was weird, so I turned the key off and back on again and everything …

  2. I finally am going to do the ball joints on my 2000. I have found a couple of write ups on later model trucks on CF and the like. Does anyone know any tricks or tips for my model year. I talked to a friend who did them on a 94 CTD 2500 4x4 and he said he had to engage the 4x4 before pulling the passenger side axle to prevent the linkage from falling apart???? Any way I am going to start with it tomorrow morning. ThanksChris

Hi guys,I've just noticed this black puff when starting the truck. I have no idea how long its been doing this. I bought the truck in November 2012 with 306000 miles knowing it would have some problems. So it could have been doing this since I bought it . My question...Is this normal, or something that I should be getting concerned about? This is the only time is blows the black smoke. Never going down the road, even when I get on it really good. I'm trying to embed a video of what the truck is doing. The smoke looks white because its coming right at the camera, but it is black.

  6. Hi all, ive been trying for a few months now to get my scanguage calibrated. I followed all instructions to the letter, as far as I can tell, but many fill ups later I was still having to adjust the offset percentage by around 100%. I tried messing with diesel a and diesel b today on the drive to work to see if it changed the gph, but it was really hard to tell. However, most of the time it seems like the gph reading is way lower than it should be. Even beyond the typical 0 at idle. Is it possible that my truck is incorrectly reporting fuel consumption? Is there any way to test or calibrate that? Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I love the scanguage for its…

  7. Hello, I would like to apologize for the long post! Okay so I'll start it off with what I have done to the truck so far. It is a 1998.5 2500 5-Speed 4x4 Cummins. A little under 900 maybe 1000 miles ago I have installed a new VP44, Airdog 100, OEM Cummins connector tubes, 7x.009 100hp injectors, and I also had to have my computer rebuilt because the throttle circuit was shorted out(I may also add that the truck used to prime for 3 seconds and it no longer does, I used to be able to access system function from a scanner and no longer can, The truck sounded ever so slightly different after I installed rebuilt ecm aswell). I have a few more things coming within the next …

Hi all, I'm having a slight(hopefully) issue with my 01 2500. Since I bought the truck at 248,000 it's always been a little tricky to get into first and reverse. If you put it in first before going to reverse its easy but first can be a little tricky. Anyway I just hit 254,000 and second gear is getting a little hard to get into when I stop at a light/stop sign. However it's only hard if I let the clutch out then put it back in. For example I stop at a light, take out of gear and let clutch out. Then put clutch in and try to put it in second and sometimes it's really hard till I play with it a bit. Usually I can get it but it seems like it's getting worse quickly. If I…

I could really use some help. Back on 3-11-10. My friends truck a 2002 Dodge 2500 HO turbo diesel 2wd completely stock took a dump. Would start but under acceleration it would just dead pedal. pulled him home and the temp gauge was bouncing all over the place and the cruise light would blink on and off. He thought it was the IP and LP so he ordered the IP and a Fass DDRP LP. We installed it and it made no difference at all. I know we should have pulled the codes first but we didn't:banghead:. So we pulled the codesPCU p0122, p0500, p1693.ECU p0121, p0230, p1689, p0217, p1488, p0575, p0562, po237 I did some searching and found a post by mopar on 5-29-2009 that said Quote:P…

  10. I have a 1999 Dodge 2500 Cummins with a cracked manifold that is long overdue for replacement. I bought a slightly used manifold from Drag Racer that is in new condition. I used to be a good mechanic meaning I would always get job done and back together without any parts laying around. I am not in good phyical shape and have issues getting up and down so if anyone has done this and could share with me where you started and especially what you did from the bottom side it would save me several moves getting under my truck and what can be left in place. I am concerned that I might have to break it lose from the exhaust pipe or will I be able to just take the manifold apart f…

I am buying an inline mount setup. I am running a aftermarket turbo and am thinking I need to get a shorter outlet on the turbo to make room for the brake. It has six bolts and it comes off the housing. So then I can clamp the brake to the turbo and the downpipe to the brake without hitting the firewall. If anyone has tips or a picture of their setup that would help a lot. Thank you.

  13. This truck has been at a garage for 4 months, its been torn apart, scattered and ignored, you get the idea. The garage said they couldn't get the codes and they didnt know what was wrong with it, I finally got it home and kinda got it togeather. When I took it to the carage it would idle, but not much more, now it wont even start...... Last night I finally got the codes off my truck, there are 12 of them as follows: P0121- tps voltage does not agree with map P0122- throttle pos sens volt low P0243- turbo boost limit exceeded P0236- map sensor too high too long P0351- fuel inj pump fuel valve feedback circ P0252- fuel inj pump fuel valve stuck P0253- fuel inj pump fuel v…

I was fiddling around under the hood today and come to find out that there is excessive turbo play and a lot of oil film in the housing. I can see that the turbine has contacted the oil film and I’m fairly certain I can see a faint mark around the housing beneath the oil. What should I do for a turbo? Rebuild this one or go with a aftermarket or He351cw? Currently running Dap 75s. I think this has something to do with low low end power. Top end with these injectors is really good it takes off well but low end power feels very laggy.... Ipinions?

Looking to identify where this plug is supposed to go the wire colors are Yellow/Blue, Yellow/Green, Black/White. It's located next to the ECM on the right side of the motor as you face the truck. just above the engine mounted fuel pump. I unplugged it from a pigtail system which is in the attached photos. There are zero markings as to what this box is/does, the small tag on the wire loom is not legible the only thing I can pick out on it is "4-02tdw". Any help would be appreciated, I reconnected the cannot plug to the left of the one in question as well that's depicted in the first photo. This was also connected to the system in box in question. …

Hello ladies and gents!! Hope everyone is ready for Christmas and New years and everything is going well for everyone. Now, on to the problem. My brother has recently purchased a very clean 2002 Ram 2500 CTD. It is a five speed and completely bone stock from bumper to bumper. He is going through the motions of basic bullet-proofing (Gauges, Lift Pump, Etc.) I talked him into getting an Assassin mechanical lift pump because that is what I will probably end up getting if and when my Raptor gives up. He also went with the beans diesel sump at my suggestion versus the draw straw. My father and brother are working at installing the entire system this weekend and ju…

Ok I said I would never do this, but here we go…. Reading about some of these “Tuners – Programmers” that just plug into the OBDll, and you don’t have to “tap” anything, my brain is asking me the age old question – What could possibly go wrong? (Hold my beer) LOL…. In everyone’s humble opinion what is the best way to go. Seems like you can get ones from 300 that have three programs, to a Smarty that has six, any opinions? (Silly question) I do get confused when reading about the programs, especially concerning timing. How do you figure out what is best for driving around town (yes I do like spirited driving) and for towing? I am very conservaitive when I tow and t…

What is involved in replacing the nv4500 with the 6 speed? I cant keep a 5 speed evidently, I believe they just skimp by on parts or something. The only other thing I can think of is I'm running the amsoil synthetic.

I'm working on my VP44 and ECM projects and need to know how much fuel is actually injected by the injection pump. This is so I can calculate a fuel rate in milli Liters for determining engine load and also for the overhead trip, mileage display computer. So i dug out my old VP44 core and did some measurements. I thought I would share what I found and get some confirmation or feedback. This is a SO pump with three injection plungers they are 7.3 mm diameter. The cam donut has a thickness of 10.5 mm at the maximum inward point and a thickness of 7.1 mm at the maximum outward point. So 10.5 - 7.1 = 3.4 mm of stroke. I don't have an ultra pr…
