When I pulled my 5th wheel trailer this weekend and when I turned the steering wheel, a couple times I got this jerky or shudder turn like it wanted to stop turning and I could hear a grinding sound like a pully going out might sound like. It did not do it every time and has only done it once while not towing but I do get a vibration at idle in the steering wheel all the time, flushed the PS system. New fluid. What say you, guys. Thanks in advance.

  2. Hey everybody, I just about have all my steering troubles fixed (thanks @Mopar1973Man for the steering box tightening tips!). However, my steering wheel is still slightly off-center/crooked. I found a video showing how to remove the steering wheel, so is it simple enough to remove the steering wheel and adjust it a few degrees to the right? Or is it more complicated?

  3. I have a 1999 Dodge 2500 Cummins with a cracked manifold that is long overdue for replacement. I bought a slightly used manifold from Drag Racer that is in new condition. I used to be a good mechanic meaning I would always get job done and back together without any parts laying around. I am not in good phyical shape and have issues getting up and down so if anyone has done this and could share with me where you started and especially what you did from the bottom side it would save me several moves getting under my truck and what can be left in place. I am concerned that I might have to break it lose from the exhaust pipe or will I be able to just take the manifold apart f…

http://www.rocksolidramtrucksteering.com/ I just found your information searching sites for my steering issues today and i was about to spend lots of money to try to fix my issues. I was reading every ones replies and crawled under my truck and had my wife turn the steering wheel with and without engine running and didn't see any play that would cause the steering to wonder as bad as it does, so i grabbed the column and my bearing at firewall is completely gone, so i guess i will be ordering one shortly

Hi all, So I have a new Valair single disc clutch with all new components, and new OE hydros from Napa. I have about 1000 miles on the hydros and 550 on the clutch. Today I noticed that sometimes, as I'm slowly letting up on the clutch pedal, it feels like it is sticking or binding kind of. It is only minor and only when I let the pedal out very slowly, which I normally do, and even then its not all the time. Its like it will just kind of hang up slightly then let go and release more quickly than I want it to. I am sure the clutch and components are installed correctly as I and my dad did it together and we are both pretty competent in this area. We also had the help…

  6. Hey Guys, I installed my Raptor 150 pump the other day. Pretty easy and good instructions to boot. I have everything wired up the right way, however when I turn the key forward I still hear a gooosh, almost like something purging itself. I always thought that was the stock lift pump. I called the place I got the raptor from and the guy said I should not hear the old lift pump. Are there other electronics hooked up to the lift pump besides the Deutsch two prong connector? Should I remove the lift pump from the side of the block? Thanks

I had the new PCM flashed yesterday at the dealer, he said everything checks out good, gauge check,PCM flash etc... drive home, all is well. Start the truck this morning to go to work....NO GAUGES:banghead:, half-way to work they come on again! 3 miles from work...off they go. I did notice something today during all this, when the gauges start to go dead the air-bag light comes on first, then I lose the speedo, then the tach, then you get the bell and the no bus code appears and all is lost. Then the transmission starts to act a little weird, you will be sitting still at a stop sign and all of a sudden it will try to learch forward, and if it acts like that, when you turn h…

  9. So my main issue is a knock. It’s only when warm and don’t always do it. I’ve also noticed higher egts and a decent amount of black smoke which is supriseing for stock injectors? Also seems very gutless but that’s problably from stepping down in injector size. Can anyone suggest some remedy’s for my issues before I sell it and go buy another that runs right?

I have had a leaky oil pan gasket since buying my truck in 2014. It has basically leaked the exact same amount every oil change and has not gotten worse. Trying to decide when to take the time to fix. I know it’s not going to go away but need to have some encouragement because I have put it off and put it off because I don’t like horsing around with heavy engines and such! I do have a lazy streak! Lol.

I have a 98.5 4x4 5 speed that is box stock truck with 200k miles and was wondering what the max boost would be if I put a boost fooler and a boost elbow or just capped of the waste gate line. I am not looking to make goobs of power but wondered if I will see any power increase or if it will hurt my engine in any way . From what I learned many years ago as a owner operator the more air with the same fuel rate would drop the EGTs. I have installed a full set of gauges and will be ordering a Fass DDRP in a week or so. I can get a max of 20 PSI at wot before it defuels or opens the waste gate or both and if there is any more power to be had I would to be able to use it if ne…

  12. Hi folks I own a 1998.5 24 valve 2500. I am currently replacing the stock Carter fuel lift pump, (Right rear side of block) with an equivalent new replacement. This is a preventative maintenance measure as pump on there now is seven years old and making 8 psi under full load. I an interested to see what pressure a new pump will make. New pump is just being bolted down now. Is it ok to install this dry? Will it prime itself once I hook everything up and turn on the power? I know about the upgrades for these lift pumps. I do plan to upgrade to a more reliable pump with better flow rate, in the future. For now just going with stock until I decide on an upgrade s…

  14. I had the impression (obiviously erroneous) that mice didn't like diesel intakes. WRONG!! I've been holding off the BHAF install, waiting until the AC & heater repair gets done, so rather than the BHAF get bunged up by the shop (cracked the cover the last time... never told me... I did a super-glue repair). So the first shop didn't even start the job, so I brought the truck home & made an appointment elsewhere. For some reason I decided to pull the stock air box & at least start the BHAF install. Like it says in the title, the stock airbox was full of trashed sound-deadening insulation. I'd already removed & thrown away the under hood blanket …

Im new to the world of stock fuel filters seeing I cut my bracket off my old truck and used it to hold isolator about 12 years ago lol. I was about to remove this one when someone on here told me in kind words that that was dumb So what brand seems to be the best?

Was wondering what fittings are being used with AD or FASS fuel systems to keep the stock filter housing in line.I live in the northeast and would like the security of having the fuel heater, also an extra filter cant be all that bad. I have a AD II 165 1/2 fuel line with quick connections and modified fuel canister(which im having problems with since ive installed but thats another story for another time).

Just bought a 2001 2500, 307 000 miles automatic, very clean and well maintained, I installed a mech fuel psi gauge, at idle 8 1/2 psi, at 60mph about 1600 rpm its at 7psi, is this low enough to hurt the vp44 ? iv hardly driven it as I am getting little stuff fixed first, iv ordered a Airdog frrp, its a stock motor and will stay stock and used as a daily driver about 6 000 miles per year and occasional light towing will this pump be suffiecient ? I don't know the maintance history of the truck as far as the vp44 being replaced nor the carter style lift pump.
