I was crawling around under the truck looking for problems and I noticed this cracked mount for the rear of the transmission. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this on their trucks. I searched but didn’t see any threads on it. What’s more, it looks like someone has tried to weld it previously, but it was never mentioned. My dad had the truck for a couple years but other than that I bought it new. The trans was out for a synchro replacement and shortly after that, the 5th gear nut fix. (Whole other story of clown work by a local mechanic). Anyway, I ordered a new bracket and will replace, but just thought I’d post something on it. I was hearing a bit of …

so acouple years ago i was traveling back from a wild weekend in riggins and hit a rock with my rear end. checked everything out underneath and it all looked ok till the next morning. there was a substantial puddle underneath. i replaced seal after seal where the driveline hooks up and to this day it continues to leak. so the question is, is there anyway i could have tweaked the rearend enough to make that seal keep blowing out and is there anyway to find out or measure if it did move?? any help thanks

I'm going to try and start gathering parts for my tear down, and would like to replace all of my synchronizers while I'm in there. 3rd and 4th gear are getting pretty tired. Does anyone know any good places to source these parts? I don't want anything cheap that will go out in a year. Thanks!

I got a job that a 2001 Dodge was having lock up issues typically. Now the owner had the BD noise filter, the APPS wiring mod and ground mods. Still in all the truck ran with a surge and dropping of power. The old alternator I measured at 0.1 to nearly 0.2 volts AC. He replaced the alternator I measured today and its right about 0.04 to 0.05 marginal. Still the loss of power and surging. The owner has a Bank's tuner on so I opted to removing the MAP leads and return to stock and the Wire Tap. Went for a test drive and the problem is gone. Moral of this post is alternator noise can do damage to even 3rd party device like tuners.

So I have a FASS titanium series waiting at the house for me to get home and do the install. What’s the consensus on suction? Draw straw or sump?

Okay, I hate to start a new thread because I know some where there is already an answer for what I'm going to ask. I have reached to point of trying to drive the 1999 Dodge Ram Cummins Quad Cab SLT Laramie 5 speed. I simply can't find a safe way to operate the clutch while wearing leg braces. I hate to see it go because of the amount of work and money that's been put into it already. I haven't been able to walk for the past 5 or 6 weeks because of the rotten bone spur at my Achilles Tendon. I want to be honest about selling it but something I noticed that my brother pointed out was a slight knocking sound when he brought it back to me in August of 2017. He thought it was …

I broke my stock airbox top by stepping on it while it was on the garage floor. I shattered the slots that make a hinge with the bottom section. Does anyone have the top half of a stock 24V (2001) airbox that I could have? I'm currently running a BHAF and I'd be willing to trade even for the airbox, however I would have to wait until I got the airbox before pulling the BHAF off. It probably has 10K miles on it or so, and it looks nearly new. Anyway, I live north of Atlanta, zip 30114. Can anyone help a brother out? Thanks, Blake ---------- Post added at 01:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:48 PM ---------- By the way, I can just buy the air…

Does anybody know the part number or correct size for the seal/gasket that sits on the valve cover around the oil filler hole. Took my oil cap off earlier and the gasket disintegrated.

I blew an oil seal out of my 62mm the other day, and rushed in a rebuild kit from Southeast Power Systems. Rebuilt the turbo today, and it's leaking worse than before! Question now becomes does anyone know where to source a genuine Borg Warner rebuild kit? Google has been of no help to me, as all I am finding is crappy aftermarket kits that I know will suck

Just wanted to post my experiences here for others to learn from my mistakes! Went through my 1500 mile trans filter change and band adjustment yesterday. All went relatively smooth, front band adjustment was pretty straight forward. Draining the fluid was a synch with the Goerend pan and drain plug. Dropped the pan and adjusted the rear band, installed new filter and got everything else plugged up. Put back in the fluid and fired up the truck, let sit for 30 seconds or so, and went to head around the block. As soon as the truck went to shift into 2nd it felt like the truck was trying to throw me through the windshield! Slowed down and tried to spe…

Needing some opinions, here’s what’s up. My 2000 just rolled over 300K, everything that has ever even thought about needing to be replaced has been with oem or better parts. I’m on the original injectors, original VP44, original head gasket, and original turbo. My Tappet cover is leaking pretty bad, and aside from that leak I’ve not had any leaks other than a little weeping at the oil pan. My question is, should I just do the Tappet cover and keep going, or should I go ahead and do injectors, VP, oil pan gasket, new turbo, rebuild vacuum pump, front main seal, ect while I’ve got everything pulled apart. I am usually a “it ain’t broke” kinda guy, but at 300K I have to cons…

I installed a raptor on my 2001. I know lots of people say to add a suction filter. BUT! If there is already a filter sock on the pickup in the tank, WHY! another screen. Dodge didn't have an additional filter before the Carter.

I've done some research about adding a resistor to to the IAT connector as an MPG fooler. Is this an acceptable method? I wonder if it can affect anything in the engine when the outside temps are cold and the IAT is set at 143 degrees. After thinking about it for a while, I bet an arduino could be used to ramp up the IAT while monitoring the ECT. That could be an easy thing to do with a few relays and different resistors used to change the IAT. Say when you start the truck and it's cold out, a relay could close and send the actual IAT temp out. As the truck warms up, other relays could open/close and send out different resistor values. Any tho…

Going to do brakes and power steering fluid... Haven't done before, couple questions:1) what size tubing for caliper coupling?2) when doing rear passenger wheel, just keep pumping until it turns clear then move to next wheel...?3) what happens if air gets in line - how will you know? Will brakes get spongy and I'll have to rebleed... One wheel or all wheels? 4) power steering - just use a turkey baster? Thanks!

My batteries have been disconnected for about a year. Anything special I have to do before I can start it? Neighbor up the way asked if I had my beast running yet. Batteries have been disconnected so long of time he thinks I need to adjust or reset something before I can start it or run right? I asked him what the something was and I think he said APS or ATS? Guess I screwed up again...what do I need to do. Thanks

Once again I have a odd-ball question to throw out there. My brother was visiting with us on his way back to S.C. and the 1999 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 24v 5 speed I sold him 3 years ago showed the PO216 code so he left it with me to check out and see if I could sell it for him. It's in great shape inside and out. Much better looking than the 1998 12v I occasionally drive to doctor appointments when my wife can't take me. The 12v is automatic and I have decided to sell it. I thought about buying back the 99 but the clutch pedal has to be all the way down on the floor to start it and put in gear. Is this normal distance on most manual driven Dodges? I'm wearing casts on both le…
