Got a brake switch in yesterday to replace the OEM unit. The brake lights were stuck on, one night and killed my batteries. Before I read the instructions, I looked at the switch. I rotated the lever on the outside not thinking anything of it. Then I read the instructions... Supposedly by doing that before installing the switch it's no good. But I took it apart afterwards and don't understand why? Anyone know what's up? It just looks like an adjustable plunger. The internals are not complicated or sensitive. What gives.

So, when my transmission gets up to 140 degrees or warmer it will not downshift to 1st gear when coming to a stop. I can manually downshift to 1st gear then place the shifter back in drive and it'll work like normal. When the transmission temp is below 140 it downshifts as it should. The only mods to the transmission are a transgo shift kit, borg warner governor pressure solenoid, and a BD Diesel transducer upgrade. I checked the tv cable, but it was already adjusted properly. What could the issue be?

Has anyone installed one of these? Will this actually prevent gelling say at deep negative temps? My fuel froze last year at -30 even with fuel treatment. At those temps isn't there the chance that the fuel would gel before the lift pump? I would install if it would actually prevent the gelling, but I figure there is a point below freezing where it will not matter.

I'm looking to buy a core 47re for a 01 4wd. Will be built with a triple clutch converter, billet input and intermediate shafts and aftermarket valve body. What year transmissions will work for this? @Dynamic can you provide any info? I'll most likely be buying a valve body from you and using whatever converter you recommend. This is a long term build with parts bought as i can afford them.

2002 cummins 2500 6 speed H.O. I need help a few weeks ago I was driving and lost fuel pressure, truck would barely idle and would cut out at 1500 rpm. I made home and it died, I have put a new ECP, PCM, vp44 and installed an air dog fuel system, new map sensor and intake temp sensor. I have been chasing wires everywhere and I haven't found a break or rub through yet. The codes im getting are p0237 turbo boost sensor circuit low, p0237 boost pressure test failed, p1689 EGR actuator control circuit low negative side, p0112 IATS 1 circuit low bank 1, p0237 turbo boost pressure sensor circuit low ( its showing 4.98 volts), I don't know where to go from here! My older code r…

  7. So this morning the temp outside was 14° F and I went out to fire up the truck so she had time to warm up. It started but reluctantly. I am new to this diesel truck world other than the large semi trucks. This is how it went: Turned on key got the wait to start light, waited for it to go out and cranked the motor, as soon as she started to fire I let the key go, she died. Cycled the key, WTS light went out and cranked again. This time she fired I held the key to start a bit longer. Thought it started to run, she died. WTS light again, then cycled key, WTS light a second time, cranked til she took off. She ran then. Grid heaters are working from wha…

My truck for the last few weeks has been making an awful squeaking or siren sound from what seems like the transmission. Does not do it while I’m stopped or stopped in gear revving, it also seems like it gets quieter when I smash on the brakes? Any help would be appreciated!!! Also it seems to do it more once truck it up to good operating temp.

  9. It's a 01 3500 quad high premium 2wd -7 HO 6spd I bought 2 yrs back. My first diesel, Ram, it's has some miles but no damage or rust, could use a new dash and some paint. When i picked it up the cruise was Inop. and the trip computer read no CCD but the gauge cluster works fine. Is the CCD bus broken up into diff. sections?32 If both read outs are on the same bus shouldn't they both have No CCD? The Stereo has a aftermarket deck in its place and the steering wheel collum radio controls are disconnected. Can a poor radio install cause a bus failure? It has a strong engine but it's 235 hp, not the -7 HO it originally had, this is probably my cruz issue , it also pull…

  10. Going to try to put all the information into the first post so it will all be in here: Truck - 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 extended cab, 5.9L Cummins, 113,000 miles (Barn Find) I have had this truck since 78,000 miles, driving it two years now. About 3 months before I bought the truck lift pump was not working and the guy (that found it in a barn) kept driving it around with a hard start condition for about a month before putting on an Airdog on the frame. He owned the truck for 3 months. I buy the truck, runs great for a year and starts having a dead pedal issue. It was throwing codes for TPPS and the P0216 code. Replaced TPPS w…

I have a 2001 dodge cummins. When I turn the key to the on position I have no wait to start light and hear a click in my fuse box. I have went through and checked wires and fuses and have had no luck

Can anyone think of a reason why I shouldn’t move my ecm to inside the cab or the firewall? My engine harness is out of the truck getting improvements and I have a second wiring harness that I was using to help diagnose my ecm issue. I realized I could use the second harness to extend the length of my current one. There is room on the firewall under the brake master cylinder or in the cab under passenger dash. Only alterations besides splicing I can think of is I would have to make more twisted pairs of the water in fuel(not used) and oil pressure sensor wires since they are the shortest and exit right by ecm. There are also 2 shielded pairs (vp44 and Cummins bus). The Cu…

I am attempting to track down a driveline vibration. Seems to be happening when accelerating from a stop while turning left. Unknown history of diff and drive line maintenance. I Changed the diff oil in July. Not many miles use since June. Will take a diff oil sample soon for analysis. This weekend I drove at hiway speeds for about an hour. No issues. Got home and immediately used a laser thermometer to check u-joint and diff housing temps. Ujoints all seemed fine and no hot bearings. Rear Diff housing pumpkin measured about 100F. Housing near pinion recorded about 120F. Is there something maybe going on with a pinion bearing? Any idea on normal housing temps a…

With the recent snow storm I was pummeled with, I had to utilize the truck today to get to work. Unfortunately, the lift pump wasn't giving me a pre start prime. Even cranked over and running, the lift pump is still not giving pressure. I checked the fuse, it's good. I swapped the relay out with a different one. Nothing. I checked voltage at fuse and got nothing. Any ideas? Pump dead? Some other electrical issue?

First post here, a pleasure to be here! I’ve been fighting with my gauges for a while now and it’s driving me insane. I have read many pages on here and other forums but have not found an exact answer or fix. My tachometer works, all other gauges inop my transmission shifts great. When I connect my scanner (Snapon Zeus) I can pull codes out of the ecm and get codes P1698 (No transmission bus messages) and P0230 (transfer pump circuit out of range) I believe that is due to the airdog. Many of my dummy lights are on. The wiring in this truck is a nightmare due to the previous owner. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  16. Snow is forecast so of course the truck is on the fritz. It's about 40 degrees out. Turn the key, "wait to start" light doesn't come on and grid heaters obviously not working. I have a Quadzilla tuner and if I just leave the key on long enough I can see that the IAT is reading 40 degrees so I know the IAT is working. Even if the relays or grid is broke shouldn't I still see the "wait to start" light coming on for 10 seconds? Is there something obvious I'm missing?

I recently had problems with my airdog turning off on me. I would un plug the relay and plug it back in and it would work fine for a little and then turn off again. I changed the fuel filter tonight after more miles than I'm willing to admit and its feeling a lot more responsive. Now the thing that's weird though is when I get around 7 lbs of boost it sounds like the airdog is spoiling along with my turn. I'm guessing it's because it's under higher fuel demand than when at idle. It's an Airdog 2 4G 165GPH. I put a WIX 33627 filter on it. It's been fairly quiet until now. Anyone have any ideas as to what it might be?

Looking to get a little more power, probably all I need is a little more boost. Anyone know anything about Turbosmart wastegates? Another option was a boost fooler but heard mixed reviews as how much they actually do. Also was looking at upgrading Turbo, Borg Warner makes a drop in K27 that it says has better low/mid range response. Not sure I want to upgrade to more performance electronics like Quadzilla or Edge. Any suggestions?

My profile explains everything. I am a “diesel dummy” but need a little help to finish diagnosing. I want to check the harness from the ECM to the injector pump. I see where it connects to the injection pump then the harness goes into a main loomed harness. I have probably over looked the ECM but where is it so I can check the connector and pins. Any pictures would be a great help. Thanks

  20. I recently fried my second ECM. It died in the same way as the last one. Stumbled will cruising around town and then died completely. It felt like the lift pump failed but the VP44 kept trying for a bit and then it stopped too. After getting it towed home I could get both the Fass lift pump and the injection pump to run (and the truck to idle) by bypassing the ecm but got no voltage signals from ecm to either lift pump or injection pump when trying to start the truck with e dry thing wired normally. After reading the article here by IBM mobile about proper lift pump wiring, I believe the ecm failed because the relay that was used in the lift pump wiring didn’t…
