Once again I have a odd-ball question to throw out there. My brother was visiting with us on his way back to S.C. and the 1999 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 24v 5 speed I sold him 3 years ago showed the PO216 code so he left it with me to check out and see if I could sell it for him. It's in great shape inside and out. Much better looking than the 1998 12v I occasionally drive to doctor appointments when my wife can't take me. The 12v is automatic and I have decided to sell it. I thought about buying back the 99 but the clutch pedal has to be all the way down on the floor to start it and put in gear. Is this normal distance on most manual driven Dodges? I'm wearing casts on both le…

My truck started to make grinding noise in low speeds, like 10-20mph. Today I drove behind a tractor idling 15mph with 2nd gear and I heard grinding noise coming from under the drivers seat. Noise is biggest at those low speeds and I think in 2nd gear. Transmission fluid looks ok and transfercase fluid is ok. Time to rebuild??? And it's 47re transmission. Thank you.

I’ve searched quite a bit for info on this subject. But it always seems to pertain to trucks with after market lift pumps. My truck still has the stock lift pump. Are these hard starts still a VP issue? Truck runs just fine. For now I’ve installed a toggle switch off the ground wire of the stock pump. As long as the pump isn’t running starts right up I’ve yet to install a fuel pressure gauge which I know is a must. Was also looking for suggestions on a good one and wear to hook it up

A few months ago I noticed a small amount of oil on the ground and traced it to the vacuum pump/ PS pump are and resealed both pumps. Went a while without seeing any more oil until tonight I pulled the truck into the shop and an hr later noticed a 3 in dia puddle. It looks like it is either coming from vacc pump or front main or timing cover. The front half of he truck is plastered with oil which is very disturbing to me. ( no more rust is a + side lol) Cleaned up things good with brake cleaner and we will see what happens. Any idea why the pump would leak again so soon? Look like it’s possibly coming from where the pump mounts to the gear case. Really hoping I don’t have…

I have owned this truck for 15k miles and almost 1 year. It has never given me an issue. I have just installed a Quadzilla Adrinaline on my truck yesterday I took if for a drive on level 0 and the truck acted like normal but then fell on its face and would not go above 10 mph in 2nd gear (6 speed) no matter the throttle position. No black or blue smoke on first drive. Drove it back home and checked all connections, all were good. I double checked the pump tap and there was no issues there. Before I installed the Quad I had a edge EZ on the truck and on the max power levelthe EZ never gave me an issue. Now when I start the truck it'll puff some blue smoke. If I rev it it …

I know this subject has been covered before. But I have a quick question. My buddy has his 99 Dodge that has the infamous lockup issue. I told him over and over it was the alternator. I told him to test by unplugging the alternator and of course the issue cleared up. I said he needed to get a Nations Alternator but he bought an O'reilly's reman alternator. After about a week he has having the same issue. But now even with the alternator unplugged the trans is still surging in and out of lockup. Could the PCM be failing now?

I've been having problems with my 02 2500 where I'll start having dead pedal issues after driving for 20 or so minutes. No codes, nothing obvious. I've got a fairly new APPS on the truck, the VP44 seems to be good, its always had good fuel pressure, pulls good up to 3200 rpm, no white smoke, no starting issues. Also unplugged my adrenaline just to make sure it wasn't being screwy. The only thing I've really be able to narrow down is that the farther I drive, the further off the speed reading on my adrenaline will be, and eventually it will start spiking up to like 150+ mph and that's when I start having dead pedal issues. Anyone have any idea what could cause…

Had a 99 2wd auto 3500 towed in today that wouldn't start. Hooked up the Snap-on scanner and found an inactive fault P0252 which on the scanner said "Injection pump valve stuck error". Cleared the fault and cranked the engine, it didn't start and again set a P0252 that immediately went inactive as soon as I quit cranking. Talked to the owner who pulled out a Dodge dealer receipt dated 9/8/2017 showing VP44 replaced with a reman at a cost of $3200 and some change. He called the installing dealer and got told his one year warranty expired. So I get to install a brand spanking new , not reman VP44 on it tomorrow. Customer stated he didn't want remanufactured junk…

So you got a Cummins, congrats! But are you getting the best stock performance for what YOU use it for??? Here is some info you may find interesting.. so the HX35 began in 1995, similar spec to the WH1C which was a 94 one year hybring is the H1 series and HX series that honestly I wouldn’t mess with. It’s not really worth building as it’s balanced as an assembly so you can’t drop wheels on or make changes without swapping the turbine also. The center section or bearing housing isn’t that great, the oil paths aren’t as open as the HX. So the HX35 was a 56/60/12 which is the main figures you typically look at in turbo sizing. 56mm inducter (inlet) of the compres…

New to this great forum. Just wondering if anybody knows of anybody that has had long term success after replacing the transistor in their vp44 module??? I am referring to the “injector pump fuel valve” drive transistor that overheats melting its connection. Anyone know what the original transistor was that Bosch used? If so please let us know what transistor replacement you used? Did you solder or use an adhesive to secure and provide the necessary heat transfer? Thanks, Gary

On my other 99 ram after I took off the Quadzilla, I am left with these 2 codes. Any one else have this happen? How did you go about clearing them or fixing the issue. No boost elbow, all stock now.

Truck belongs to a good friend of mine. A couple years ago, he had an overcharging problem. Since the PCM (I think) controls the charging, he wanted me to throw an external voltage regulator (EVR) on it to 'get by for awhile'.. Well, it worked fine for a year or so, and now he told me yesterday that it'll peg the voltage gauge and ding the check engine chime. the fuel gauge, he said, will often drop to empty for a few seconds, then return to normal, but doesn't seem consistent with anything else.. Are we at a point where he should look for another PCM? Or has anyone seen this type of issue before? Thanks, all.. …

Wanted to use some of you fellas experience. My ecm quit powering lift pump so most likely will need to replace it. When I lost fuel pressure, engine began to sputter till fuel pressure returned and got a p0216. AC voltage is ok and code hasn’t returned since cleared. Do you think my VP is ok and code showed up because I lost fuel pressure or is injection pump gone too?

This will be some testing info I've tested personally over multiple trucks for those looking for that perfect sound. Really has zero effect on power but if you want that great cummins grumble we all know and love then think about this one>>>> so your in the market for an exhaust? There is tons of options and brands....so brand is pretty much irrelevant... only changes really are the outlet angle. MBRP comes back on a 45* outlet, Diamond eye 90* outlet and some others do 60*. Really it doesn't make that big of a difference other then the amount of sound you hear in the cab. Windows down 45* is quietest, 90* is loudest. You'll hear it crack and echo …

Are 275 TV injectors still ok for slight up grade or did something better come around? Towing ability? Found real old write up but can't link to work. i went a step above the 275's and got 60HP injectors, they give you a real 275HP, over the 40 or so you see with the RV 275's. as for install and removal of injectors see my write up guide herehttp://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/25-fuel-system/255-24v-injector-install-video it includes videos and everything.

Just wondering where this ground attaches on a 2001 Dodge. I am not sure I changed the fender two years ago and noticed it yesterday hanging. I looked in the ground location in the service manual but can't find it. I can't believe I missed it years ago maybe ground for ABS. I would like to know before hooking up to the wrong area I know it is ground... but just wanted to put it to the right spot.

Where is a good location to install the elec connection for air dog? In pic... mine is secured by a zip tie and tucked under weatherstriping that goes across the cowl. And not weather tight connection. Certainly must be better spot. Also,is one battery better than other for connection? Thanks

I have an 02 2500 6 SPD manual tranny. Bone stock except cold air intake. Recently truck seems to be losing fuel prime and I can find nowhere it is going. Truck sits overnight and fuel filter housing will be empty causing very hard start problems. When I do get it started seems to idle fine. When I drive it sounds like turbo is not coming in until upper rpm range. Truck will barely pull itself up even the smallest of hills. Lift pump is new (one mounted on engine) and seems to be working fine fills filter housing in under 10 seconds. No DTC codes. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
