  1. Hi guys. I have a couple questions on what is going on with my truck. I noticed I am shifting too early where the RPM's are low and it surges or jerks until the RPM's get higher. It is shifting into 4th gear with OD off at 25mph and it happens also about 45mph where its shifting into high gear and doing the same thing with OD on. Tonight I was doing a couple road tests and I got on it alittle more than usual and when I got home because of how it was acting, I used my scangauge and I had a p0234 code. So I have been doing alittle reading about the wastegate etc which I do not understand and wonder how the code is related to what is going on with my truck. Is it someth…

Alright, so I did a little brainstorming on the matter. Dunno if I'm on to something here or not? Need to pose this question and bounce it off of you guys.I hope to get my exhaust brake here soon and thinking on the issue more, considering I have an auto, it makes some sense. I have not been able to tell if my transmission does a 2nd gear lock up or not. But if not, I think I may have a good idea for a workaround.IIRC, a lock-up switch will allow you to lock the TC at ANY time, right? Well if so, would this work:- EB kicks in at 3rd or 4th but then the truck slows down enough to the point that it shifts to 2nd. EB kicks off as the trans does not have 2nd gear lockup. So my…

I'm having a hard time finding a HX35 to replace my Hy35. So I have been surfing ebaymotors and there are several vendors selling them for around $300. Have any of you guys tried one? Are they junk? Also I was searching for a gauge pod set up and found some stuff made by Glowshift. They are about $200. I'm assuming they must be junk if they are that cheap. I'm wondering if any of you guys have any experience with them? Thanks in advance.

I received my repaired ECM back from Autocomputer Specialist with a note not to hook it back up until a find the short to ground. I started looking at known problem areas. Once I got around to testing the DTC P0382: INTAKE AIR HEATER RELAY #2 CONTROL CIRCUIT I hit a snag. From instruction item 3 " If resistance is 1000 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange/Black wire between ECM and intake air heater relay No. 2." On my sweep Ohm meter set to the 10X scale I am reading 17 or 170 ohms. Without tearing all the wrapping off the wiring harness and looking for a short to ground does anyone have any …

Hello everyone, need a little help. Was wondering if anyone has used a used ECM in their truck if the original failed,i can purchase a ECM from a 99 3500 5spd 4x4(mine is a 99 2500 auto 4x4),but what i can gather from TSB 18-033-04 the ECM part# is the same for 981/2-99. I have CODE P1694 and my truck has a 10-15 sec delay till the Wait To Start light comes on and then i hear the lift pump prime.I imagine that i would have to have the ECM reflashed which i can get done. i can get it for a great price.

HI all, I found info from MoparMan on puting the in the 5amp inline fuse to the blue wire of PCM for protection. I am trying to find more info in regards to putting in a similar protection fuse for the ECM and Vp44. Has anyone done something like this? Long story short both had died on me and have been replaced. I'm going to clean all my grounds etc. but would like extra protection. The W-T mod is on the urgent list of things to do as well (along with AC noice testing)- I found articles in regards to it and MoparMans video on AC testing. Is there a video on the W-T mod?

Just purchased a used ECM + PCM for my pickup. We travel a lot (including Mexico) and I want to keep a few critical spare parts on hand just in case. The donor rig was a perfect match (2002 Dodge Cummins HO six speed) for my truck and the price was right so I jumped on it. I'm assuming the ECM especially does not need to be re-flashed or anything and will be a plug and play item. Both computers are OEM off a totaled rig (121K miles....front end smashed but engine compartment looked fine). Guess I'm taking a little bit of a chance on this purchase but both computers looked great and the truck was running (obviously) at the time so they worked right up to the accident. …

Well the Ram just ate another ECM. Must be high in protein. The first ECM went with around 3500 miles from new in 2000 when I bought it. The dealer replaced it & never said what happened. The second ECM went wild & through just about every code you could list. I think this was in 2008. Not repairable at the time. The 3rd ECM got replaced with a used one from a 98.5. I got the used ECM & PCM together from a guy in Montana. They would not work in my truck together, So I tried just his ECM & my PCM & the marriage was formed. That work fine up to about 2 years ago. Then the WTS light, fuel pump & grids started doing their thing. Then re…

  12. I'm replacing this wire: The wire is a shielded twisted-pair with a drain (SAE J1939/11). The wire seen here is the stock wire. It's comically unkempt. Note that the orange wire is about five inches too long, so that it must be doubled-back to make it the proper length. Also, the shielding is missing from the first six inches, and the last four inches. Neither of these is a problem from a functionality standpoint. I mean, it probably doesn't hurt anything. It's just sloppy. That loose twist of shielding provides no benefit, so why did they leave it loose like that? This is what I made to replace it. All new wire and…

2001 Dodge 2500-manual trans. Problem started when I lost prime voltage to lift pump CEL (check engine light P1693 code) power supply wire tested at 8.2 volts in the start prime position but I had good voltage in run. Sent ECM in for testing repairs. -Repaired/tested ECM had good lift pump voltage after repairs, no codes or CEL but severely delayed throttle response to the point it was un-drivable. Tested APPS as per Mopar1973 posts. -ECM Vendor provided replacement rebuilt ECM, Truck runs, good voltages to lift pump, as soon as I pull onto the road I get CEL/MIL P1693 code unable to pull any other sub codes. Used 3 different OBD II scanners with nothing. -Repl…

I am desperate for any help. I have a 1999 Ram 2500 5.9 Cummins, and when I first bought it, it had delayed wait to start. I didn’t know what this meant at the time, but it wouldn’t start at all after a week or two. I put in a loaner ecm and it started up great, and runs okay. Three months later, I’ve rebuilt the original ecm twice, and still nothing. Loaner ecm is still in and working, but seems to have developed some dead pedal. Hot or cold, after 40-50 mph, it only accelerates through the gears slowly after that, even if I mash the pedal. Could it be excessive AC noise killing them? Or two bad ECMS? Awesome truck, but I don’t want to dump thousands …

  15. Alternator output solid at 14v. ECM voltage output varies, Injector pump voltage varies. Is this normal, if not, what should I do? Thanks in advance, I've ordered the scan tool that was being used so I can check whenever. The problem is I don't know what the typical values should be. Tim

Hello all, I am fairly new to this sight but see that there are many very knowledgeable people here. I have a 1999 2500 that I have swapped from the 47re to Nv4500 with southbend dual disc clutch, new VP, quadzilla tuner, airdog raptor 4g lift pump. Now I have a bad ECM. I am wondering if when having my new ecm programmed I should request automatic settings since my truck is originally an automatic or if I should have it programmed with the Manual trans settings? Will having the manual ECM negatively affect the original automatic PCM? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone my name is Andrew and I'm brand new to the forum. I was hoping you could help me with my ECM problem. I have no idea what caused my ECM to fail.. Is this a common issue? Do I just replace it and cross my fingers or do I need to investigate further? The truck ran just fine until I pulled in my driveway (luckily) and it died. I had it checked out and was told the microprocessor fried and the ECM is deemed unrepairable.. Since I can't buy a new one (discontinued) do I buy a used one with no warrantee or do I get a reman unit? If reman who do you recommend? I've called a handful of remans companies and every place seems very shad…
