Boy was I wrong! Was going to change front pinion seal real quick but turns out at least one of the pinion bearings is junk. I don't have the time or the money for this. Plus I gotta work outside in the mud. I hate to have someone else do the work, I could try to find a good used diff. Sure miss my old shop.

I thought I had it all figured out, I called DAP today and they told me the opposite of what I thought I knew. Is the only way to find the correct pump that I need, to pull the old one?

98.5-----5 speed. Having an issue where I'm not getting the starter to engage the flywheel. Starter will go, but will not turn over the engine. Batteries are brand new as are my cables (I'm 100% sure that my connections are all good.....now ) The story........................ This initially started out as just a "1 click, no start" when turning the key; it also threw a code. Went underneath to to check the starter cable.... I unfortunately caused an arc because the connection was loose and I'm fairly confident I made something go crispy critters in the starter. I only had one negative disconnected so I learned the hard way ; save the lecturing, all yo…

Well like the title states, I'm curious on your guys opinion on running a smarty with an auto trans? Obviously until I get my trans built, it'd be run on the lowest of settings or off. To me the smarty isn't just for the tune ability but also to be able to help others clear codes, set high idle and things like that. Only concern was I've heard it can be pretty smokey on autos and I'm not trying to drive around a smoke machine as my DD!

Let me paint the picture. Monday of last week saw me begin driving ~120 miles/day to a new job. I filled the tank up on the truck that weekend. I had not topped up with 2 cycle lately, but had a residual amount in there that I felt was sufficient due to always putting in either 16 oz or 32 oz, just depending how close I was to 1/2 a tank or a full tank. Oil checked out good, trans fluid ok, etc. Good to go. Monday morning. 30~ miles in, hit a valley and as I start to pull up out of the hill, I can't hardly get her to go. It lacked power. It wouldn't downshift like it normally does when it grabs a gear to pull. The turbo wasn't spooling up. And it would sort of s…

Hi, my truck is stored for winter. I need to rebuilt my trans. this spring cause last autumn I had a leaking problem at the inspection cover. The trans. shift Ok but in O.D I felt a little slippage . I was thinking of an oil pump seal or maybe the converter???? If someone can help. 47re transmission. just been rebuild 2 years ago by me but had a problem with a hose to the cooler. It disconnect and lost all the oil. After that the trans. run fine for about 1 month until I work on adjusting TPS and got this leaking at the cover!!! the shift become more strong like 1-2. like a shift kit after TPS adjust and before the leaking problem .. . I install a transgo diese…

I'm digging into my rear brakes tomorrow. I had one side open the other day to replace the auto adjuster and I have a hunch they've been assemble wrong the last time. Does someone have a diagram of how it all goes together? Like which shoe is the front one, how the cable for the adjuster is routed etc.

How important is cool down before shutting down your truck? What is that number and the amount of time it takes? I think I heard there is a gadget you can buy where you turn off the key but the truck stays running for a couple minutes... ?

What are the options for installing a fuel pressure test port? I know some to the late 2nd Gens had a schrader valve at the VP44 where fuel come in. But if you upgrade your fuel lines and replace the banjo that gets removed. I still have the banjo on the return line leaving the IP, can I put a test port there? Or is there somewhere else that is better? Thanks,

I'm wanting to adjust my valves tomorrow and tried finding the procedure here. All I'm finding is for 12 valve engines. Is it the same for the 24? If there's an article on it I guess I missed it...

So from my research I've done so far, the 1693 code is just a code thrown, letting you know that there is a code present on one of the other computers right? The 0500 code is a speed sensor and ABS issue, short version, the pcm(?) can't tell why or thinks that front and rear wheels are spinning at different speeds. The CEL only shows up when my key is turned on and the WTS light is on. Once the engine is running, the CEL is not back lit and the truck seems to run fine. Occasionally, I'll have first gear run a little longer then it seems it should, and I have a weird lock up thing happen in between 3rd lock up and 4th. I can expand on those if need be. Other poss…

I have a 99 2500 4x4 that has had a dead pedal and high idle issue, which seems to get worse when the engine is hot. No codes are presented and the only way to get the truck running again is too shut it off and remove the 20 amp engine control fuse from the Electrical Control Center behind the drivers side battery. When it begins doing it it may happen five or six times within an eight or nine mile drive. Anyone have similar problem or ideas for a resolution. Thanks very much

Hello, I've searched and can't find anything so I'm looking for some help. My 2001 5 speed will no longer shift into gear. The last few days while driving down the road, when in fourth or fifth gear, speeding up to lane change or for whatever reason the RPMs would jump 500 and then back to normal. Didn't seem like clutch was slipping or anything. Long story short it started doing it consistently more the other day on the way home, and now it won't shift into gear with the truck running. I can turn the truck off and it will shift into gear fine. The minute I fire it up it won't go into gear at all. I checked the fluid and its full. Truck has 260K on it. I hav…

I guess I'll be changing a IP next week so I have been reading over manuals to see what I'll need. I don't have a gear puller, I found this one on Geno's http://www.genosgarage.com/product/cgp010/tools. Is there any reason it wouldn't work? Something better? Also, I figured that I'd put in a fuel pressure test adapter since I don't currently have that option. Maybe it will come in handy. Thoughts?

So the edge fuel pressure sensor is mounted right at the vp inlet. I see no snubber. This is the way it was when i bought the truck. Can i just add a snubber or needle valve in front of the sensor ? Ideally the sensor should be mounted further back in the feed line correct ? On a side note. I plan to run the big line kit to the Vp when i move the DDRP pump to the frame rail with 1/2 inch lines once winters over. Should I just wait and put a T and needle valve in the 1/2 inch feed line ?

Going to be changing fluids and such on my new to me 2002. With only an edge juice is there any need for anything more than a regular parts store replacement paper filter for the air box ? I know most bang for buck would be BHAF. I like the stock look and would prefer to keep the stock box(don't see any cracks in it) If the regular fram filter isn't adequate for the Edge juice i was thinking about the slightly more expensive route of an AFE dry factory replacement for the stock airbox. Thanks

So on initial start ups, I've noticed that there tends to be some white smoke. Only one time has it been to the point where I was like man, that's a good amount haha. Other then that, its just a little bit, not even really noticeable in my mirror. Anyways, every time I start there always seems to be a slight hiccup at start (I'm thinking this may have to do with the stock intank lift pump so I'll update once the fass is on) but she idles out smoothly after a second or so. It was around 48* this morning. I have a typical wait to start time, fire her up, and again, have a little white smoke. I then waited to see if my grid heater would kick in with the voltage drop and noth…

OK guys I believe I'm loosing my apps due to while driving at less than half throttle it starts surging and some times bucking. No codes present and with the scanner my apps signal seams to be a little too jumpy in my opinion. Truck is the one in my Sig. Are there any other thing that would give this same issue
