Truck belongs to a good friend of mine. A couple years ago, he had an overcharging problem. Since the PCM (I think) controls the charging, he wanted me to throw an external voltage regulator (EVR) on it to 'get by for awhile'.. Well, it worked fine for a year or so, and now he told me yesterday that it'll peg the voltage gauge and ding the check engine chime. the fuel gauge, he said, will often drop to empty for a few seconds, then return to normal, but doesn't seem consistent with anything else.. Are we at a point where he should look for another PCM? Or has anyone seen this type of issue before? Thanks, all.. …

Wanted to use some of you fellas experience. My ecm quit powering lift pump so most likely will need to replace it. When I lost fuel pressure, engine began to sputter till fuel pressure returned and got a p0216. AC voltage is ok and code hasn’t returned since cleared. Do you think my VP is ok and code showed up because I lost fuel pressure or is injection pump gone too?

This will be some testing info I've tested personally over multiple trucks for those looking for that perfect sound. Really has zero effect on power but if you want that great cummins grumble we all know and love then think about this one>>>> so your in the market for an exhaust? There is tons of options and brands....so brand is pretty much irrelevant... only changes really are the outlet angle. MBRP comes back on a 45* outlet, Diamond eye 90* outlet and some others do 60*. Really it doesn't make that big of a difference other then the amount of sound you hear in the cab. Windows down 45* is quietest, 90* is loudest. You'll hear it crack and echo …

Are 275 TV injectors still ok for slight up grade or did something better come around? Towing ability? Found real old write up but can't link to work. i went a step above the 275's and got 60HP injectors, they give you a real 275HP, over the 40 or so you see with the RV 275's. as for install and removal of injectors see my write up guide herehttp://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/25-fuel-system/255-24v-injector-install-video it includes videos and everything.

Just wondering where this ground attaches on a 2001 Dodge. I am not sure I changed the fender two years ago and noticed it yesterday hanging. I looked in the ground location in the service manual but can't find it. I can't believe I missed it years ago maybe ground for ABS. I would like to know before hooking up to the wrong area I know it is ground... but just wanted to put it to the right spot.

Where is a good location to install the elec connection for air dog? In pic... mine is secured by a zip tie and tucked under weatherstriping that goes across the cowl. And not weather tight connection. Certainly must be better spot. Also,is one battery better than other for connection? Thanks

I have an 02 2500 6 SPD manual tranny. Bone stock except cold air intake. Recently truck seems to be losing fuel prime and I can find nowhere it is going. Truck sits overnight and fuel filter housing will be empty causing very hard start problems. When I do get it started seems to idle fine. When I drive it sounds like turbo is not coming in until upper rpm range. Truck will barely pull itself up even the smallest of hills. Lift pump is new (one mounted on engine) and seems to be working fine fills filter housing in under 10 seconds. No DTC codes. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Husband's truck was struck by lightening. We have read every forum, post, anything that might give us some help. All fuses are good, cluster plug ins checked, all grounds checked, brand new batteries, FAAS lift pump, Edge Programmer, scan tools hooked up and nothing. No Bus, it will not start, it will turn over, CCD in overhead. PCM replaced yesterday with no change. ANY help is greatly appreciated. This truck is the workhorse of our farm.

Neighbor and I have matching 2001 24V 4x4 HO 6 speed trucks. Axle ratio and paint color are only difference. Both are bone stock, his has 150,000 or so miles, mine has 440,000 and has been run much harder. About a month ago, he sent me some DTC's he pulled with the Key. They were: ECU 343, 1475, 577, 1286, 123. Truck has dead pedal and resorts to idle only at times. I checked alternator, VAC voltage with Fluke DVM is 0.023 VAC at idle, rising to 0.031 at 2000 rpm on road. (I have the one with the detach wireless screen.) 2 weeks later, codes were: ECU 118, 113, 606, 577, 343, 1475, 1286, 123. Went int…

(This is a project only at this time and 2nd on list) Last week neighbor asked me to give her kids car a battery jump at local grocery store. Had to use wifes CRV as my dash still out of my 01. When I arrived I couldn't get near enough to jump battery. As I'm sitting there waiting for somebody to move their car. I'm thinking I need longer and better jumper cables. Project is... I'm thinking 2/0 welding cable has would cover the project of about 25 feet. From right side battery and underneath to back bumper. Once at back bumper going to use "Anderson SB 50 amp" connector. ( Like elec forklifts use). Then about 10 foot jumper cables. And also go…

Well I have finally came up with a solution for the dreaded torque management that has plagued us 2nd gen owners for decades, and best of all its free. It all happened by accident actually. I opened up my trans due to some funny shifting issues and found every screen inside it was full of metal shavings. Which obviously meant that they got past the filter but more on this later. I cleaned all the solenoids and sensors of the metal and the little screens that protected them along with installing a new filter and fluid. Everything was good for about 2 weeks then all of a sudden after i left a drive thu i lost all forward gears. I messed around with it for a little while (li…

So 2 days ago, I disconnected my grid heaters after testing ac noise. Which was .034 after using them all winter. Now the wait to start comes on like normal, I turn truck over it's barely stars and then dies.so I turn it over again, get it to idle, and its puffying out white and blue smoke like a train from exhaust. Temperature was 36 at 7am when I started it. I disconnected grid heaters at battery like it was suggested so as to not throw codes. I feel like I should just reconnect the grids back up, i haven't replaced a alternator yet since i have had the truck for 6years. When i use them truck fires up first crank with just a haze of blue …

HI Guys, I bought a Built unit and I'm dealing with the Black smoke output. As long as I leave it in Cruise control it will just build boost and climb the hill in overdrive. But when I interface with the throttle Black Smoke BABY!! Drop out of over drive and it goes for a little then it Black smokes. So in doing my learning, reading, It's been suggested that a Quadzilla V2 would allow me to tone down the injectors, and Tame the Smoke. I have a rebuilt Injector pump with 2 years warranty so I would like to forgo the wiretap mod to start with. As I read the Wire tap is to increase the fuel, and that is not my issue. I was just reading where another gentl…

Newby here. Sorry if I posted in the wrong area. Just got this truck so the super chip is going in the trash. Ok I have full gauges. New vp new lp new apps. I have no white tag to set volts to first off. So how do I know what to set it to? Second it revs like a monster in neutral with 13psi. Wot it's at 11psi idol its 18psi. Pulls hard till about 20psi of boost or 2200 rpm. Then sometimes it does it at 10psi and 1400rpm. Sounds great till then. If you ease in to it it wont change anything. And I can't get the chip to connect to ecm. I get a code but only after I run the truck.shut it off code goes away.

I went to remove my filter to look at doing the lockup switch the other day. I noticed an oily mess on the firewall and around the A/C components. At first I thought my A/C was leaking though it still works great. I checked the turbo and noticed a fair amount of shaft play and the blades are turning black and sticky. It also appears oil is seeping out the back side of the housing as well which is where I think the mess came from. I was really hoping to do something different with the turbo when this happened but unfortunately I am strapped for cash as I can barely afford the rebuild. I dropped the turbo off at Master Tech in Boise as they came highly recommended an…
