I know this probably isn't the best place to post this, but I thought it would be noticed here more than the other conversation areas and it won't be there for long. (2 days) On Ebay a guy is selling a 2002 2500 with all the bells and whistles with 20,000 original miles. It is a truck that looks like the day it was bought and is like stepping back 10 years. I have nothing to do with the truck or the dealer selling it, but thought someone might find it interesting to see a really nice original 2nd gen truck. There are lots of pictures. If I were a rich man this truck would be in West Virginia... I don't know how to link to it but the ebay auction number is 1906243751…

After having to dig through my truck attempting to fix the dome light and the power mirrors. I noticed the light socket was rather burned not melted but that darker burn mark from the heat of the old-school bulbs. I went out to superbrightleds.com and ordered me a new dome light blub and a pair of map light bulbs being winter is coming, daylight saving time will go away and it will be dark in the cab for morning and evening travel. It would be nice to have a bit more light and without burning up the sockets. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/miniature-wedge-base/921-led-bulb-15-smd-led-tower-miniature-wedge-retrofit-car/910/11267/ https://w…

I'm just curious if you guys have any issues with your speedometer when you compare it to GPS speed. I own my truck since 1999 and the speedometer was always off by about 5 miles when traveling at 70 it's actually 75. I've been looking into the Chrysler shop manual and this stuff doesn't give me the correct tire revolution per mile, WTF? Chrysler Shop Manual section 22. TIRES/WHEELS 22. BR/BE TIRES/WHEELS 22 - 9. SPECIFICATIONS TIRE SIZE SUPPLIER REVOLUTIONS PER MILE …

My '96 SCLB held ~34gal of fuel. My '01 QCSB, on a totally empty tank, only held ~25-26gal.I've read so many conflicting bits of info on tank sizes for the RAMs, that I'm not sure which to believe? Do any of you have any hard numbers that a man can take belief in?I've read all have 34gal tanks, 8' beds have 34gal, 6.5' beds have 26, 6.5' beds have 34, 8' beds have 44 (wtf? ) and so on.What do you guys have?

Decided to build a replacement center console for my 2000. It started when I could not find a suitable place to install my switch panel for the airbag inflation switch's and gauge. So I removed the center console and built a mock up out of cardboard and went from there. The cardboard mockup was 4 inches longer than the wooden one. I decided to attach the CB to the front of it. I ended up with a console 14" wide x 17" long x 15" on the back side(passenger side). It is 9" high on the drivers side and makes a nice arm rest. The panel is going to 16 gauge steel. I have to finalize the gauge layout and cut out the rough holes with the plasma cutter. I picked up some fabric tha…

Well, I finally went and did it...was a 8 hour round trip to pick up the bed, but I think it's going to be worth it! Decided to get rid of the dually bed, and replace it with a flatbed-went with a Bradford Built bed. I'm still in the process of pulling the old bed off, and getting the new one fitted, but here's a few pics of the trip! One of these is mine! This one, apparently! My road trip partners! Out with the old! Only thing left to do is pull the front 4 mounting bolts and lift it off...back bumper, receiver, wiring, and fuel filler are all disconnected. In with the new! I've since cut out the built in gooseneck hitch, and …

Well gang... I started down the long rocky trail of doing ball joints on my truck. Took me over 12 hours to do just the passenger side. As for getting every broke down for removal was a snap. Now the hub nut on the spindle is 1 11/16 nut and had to drive to town and get the right socket. ($14) as for getting the wheel bearings out snap to with a partner there to help out. The socket extension trick does work but not as documented. My buddy James used a longer extension and allow it to push off different areas of the axle tube.Other than that no problem. Take a 8# sledge hammer and nail the top of the knuckle near the upper ball joint and off it came. Now as for using the …

So I have both the upper and lower ball joint removed, I did the lower first then the upper. Is there a specific order I need to install them? When I did them on my old hemi I seem to remember my mechanic buddy telling me to install the upper ball joint first and then the lower so the press won't get in the way of anything?

Does anyone know if the trucks are pre wired for power mirrors? So I would just need the control and power mirrors to convert the truck? https://www.ebay.com/itm/DODGE-RAM-1500-2500-3500-DURANGO-TRUCK-POWER-MIRROR-CONTROL-SWITCH-KNOB-BK-94-02/113577448786?hash=item1a71be5552:g:kwQAAOSwoN5cQ7d2 will this one work?

So I was backing my trailer into a super tight spot on a job and got distracted and kissed my mirror on a fence post breaking the mirror glass. Right now I have on after market mirrors (EFXMRDOD98HET) as you can see here: https://www.carid.com/replace/pro-efx-driver-and-passenger-side-power-towing-mirrors-mpn-efxmrdod98het.html I haven't been able to source replacement glass for them, and I am also unable to source just the passenger side mirror with the options I have on (heated, power, with the clearance light). So right now my options are by another full set for $475 or by a different OEM replacement for $370. The guy at the parts store said its for a 20…

I’m curious if anyone has ever bought a sound dampening hood liner? Results? Do they work? I love the sound of my truck but mainly engine noise is so loud I can’t even hear the radio.

Just thought I would post up real quick about an issue I was having with my tow mirrors. First off, my truck is a non power truck so needless to say I did not purchase power mirrors which have more "stuff" behind the mirror part and do not vibrate as bad. Anyway, like I said, I had a lot of vibration sitting at idle or traveling down the road, so I decided to take the mirror apart and sound deaden the back of the mirror to absorb some of the shake. Took me about 1 hour between being anal about it and shooting the bull with my bud that was changing his oil...Here is what mine looked like off the base after I placed the "Cool It" acoustical suppressor mat on. …

Keeping in mind that mine are severly faded stock lens's with stock halogen bulbs, I think we all know how pathetic and dangerous that combo is! I started off with machine polishing with meguires #2 mirror glaze fine cut cleaner, about a 10 min.job, then c…

It's been cold at night here lately so I've been plugging in the block heater. This last week it was quite a bit colder (single digits) and the truck has become significantly harder to start. I tested the extension cord (plugged in a drill) and it's fine. What sort of resistance should I look for on the heater? Does it just have a hard time keeping up when it gets that cold or could it have failed? Before, the valve cover would be noticeably warm when the heater was plugged in, now it's not.

Sorry for posting yet another thread.Thinking since my shop is in truck, might get the suspension upgraded as this will be our daily driver soon should the engine/valves/head etc check out.Thinking new front Thuren coils (0-2") , and bilstein front and rear shocks.Think the coils are around $300 and the shocks around the same for all four. So $600 and then labour. What kind of difference would that make to a stock ride - I have NO idea. How noticeable ?

I figured I would share my next mod I did to the 1996 Dodge Ram 1500. I made my own tonneau cover for the bed so I can keep my stuff dry and out of the weather. I made the deck strong enough to hold a load of snow or my body weight about 200 pound. It made with CDX 1/2" plywood and 2x4's for the frame. Then covered the plywood with marine grade vinyl which my buddy do the vinyl work. (Thank You Kelly Hinkley!) So far I'm tickled to death for once I've got a bed cover and will soon be able to lock it up as well.

Does anyone know where the Joint Connector No. 3 is located on the truck? It has a few wires going to it including 4wd, horn and a few others. I am trying to trace a wiring problem with my 4wd and need to be able to follow the wire to this connection.

My truck is real long. Recently I had a couple of real close calls with *ss *oles I could not see, riding in my blind spots. I see some vehicles with the mirror turn signals but I don't really want to mess with my trailer mirrors.I'm thinking of adding some somewhere... Maybe behind the cab on top of the bed (I don't run a tool box, so that space is available). Or maybe LEDs under the truck, but I'm not sold on that approach yet. I don't like the idea of plugging into trailer socket as I've had corrosion problems leaving my gooseneck extension plugged in. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a T tap made for my truck, nor a place to put one in the harness. I'd …
