I am finally gonna get rid of my 35's on wide offset wheels. it looks great but I am gonna downsize a bit and get a more common size wheel. I am replacing the 16.5 inch wheels with 17 inchers and putting on 285/70/17 toyo 2 at's. I assume I will get a little better mpg's ?Luke

So I degreased the motor, and my mechanic friend stole my truck truck while I was out of town and replaced the hemorrageing tappet cover gasket. He pointed out that I have a crack in my exhaust manifold, and showed it to me. That bumps up that repair to the top of the list. So I priced one at Orieley's and it's not too bad ($250ish). Are exhaust manifolds all the same, or should I stay away from the chain store part? Any thing to watch out for, other than cracking bolts, etc?

  3. @MUDDY had a project for me at his place. I happen to spot a set of wheels that would get rid of my crappy aluminum wheels that one is way out of center or bent some how. Sad to say, my tires are beyond saving the damage is done to them. I did the dismount and remount myself and spun balanced them to true ZERO on all four tires. At highway speeds you can feel the vibration from the wheels. No, It's not driveline I just replace all u-joints on both front and rear driveshafts. Nice match to my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 no all I need is a set of center caps. At least the tires are now tucked back under the fenders again.

Replaced the seal on my truck while the driveline was being rebuilt, was pretty meticulous about prepping the surface and using rtv to try and seal everything. Got the driveline back installed and took it for a drive and is leaking worse than before. I used an impact to remove and re install the pinion nut and used a new nut. I’m wondering if maybe I got the wrong seal? Through my reading I think there is a flanged and non flanged yoke, and I thought mine was non flanged. Also wondering the removal process for the breather tube as thinking that could be part of the problem. Thanks Also I used a speed sleeve on the yoke to repair the pinion sleeve and this is the se…

  5. I am currently running BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO tires in size 295/75R-16. They have been great tires but they are getting a bit thin on tread. I will have to replace them in a few months. I am considering moving up to 315/75R-16's but Walmart is not carrying them and they are EXPENSIVE this time around. I have been looking at and reading up on review for the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, the Kelly TSR Safari, and Hankook Dyna Pro MT. For the folks who are running 315/75R-16's on stock rims, what tire are you running and what has your experience been with them. I realize the 315/75R-16 will rub the lower track bar arm and possibly the fender liner if turned sharp…

After a full charge, disconnected, and standing over night at about 55 deg., what should a battery hold it's voltage at? How low is too low?

Alright guys after I got some time to do some investigating my inner and outer tie rods are done for. Now is it worth it to upgrade to the t style steering or should I just got back factory. I don't want to drill the holes any bigger I want to just drop it in and go. Drives good other than a little sloppy steering. Best options cost efficient mind you!

My truck had a plastic drop-in bedliner when I bought it and knowing they are nothing but a rust factory I promptly removed it. After removing the liner I found a decent amount of lighter rust with a couple of heavier spots with some pinholes. I cleaned it up and hit it with some rustoleum until I could take care of it properly. I ended up putting in a rubber mat to keep coolers and other gear from sliding around in the bed and normally took it out once a week to make sure the bed was dry underneath. Well, I got busy and stopped taking the mat out of bed and ended up with this. I'm going to hit the rusted areas with a wire wheel until they're bright and s…

Just like the title said... I finally changed out my factory brake pads for the first time in 9 years and 187K miles. Now I hooked up with Relentless's Dad in New Meadows, ID and had him turn the rotors for me which he did a awesome job on. I had ordered all my parts from RockAuto.com and got front and rear axle brake pads, full seal kit for front and rear calipers and got new slide pin boots for a total of $103.49 with shipping. Old front pads Old Rear Pads

The truck had a pop sound on the frontend. When you turn the wheel to a certain degree to the left and then pops again when you turn it back right. I thought it maybe the ball joints so i replaced them and still popped. I asked around and others said it was the track bar. I purchased a new track bar and installed, now i have more popping than i had in the beginning. To top it off my steering wheel is turned 10 to 15° to the left... i did some research and found most saying turn the adjustment linkage to fix the steering wheel. Just making sure this is correct and wondering if the is anything else that may cause the pop.

I like to run rain guards however only have the passenger side on now, drivers side cracked so I took it off. I am seeing a lot of in channel rain guards that share the same space as your window, the one I have now is mounted above the window. What is everybody running? Thanks.

Well headed to the tire store today to get my trailer tire fixed and I come up on a lady at her mailbox on the left side of the road. Just as I get there she makes a hard left turn and came right across the road in front of me. I almost missed her by sliding up her drive way. No major damaged though and every one is unhurt. Her bumper caught my tire and ripped open. Got a little fender damage and my new taillight is broken. Anyway, my tires are about shot. I was waiting to buy some new ones when i got home, but now I have to do something. I have got my spare, it is the oe and almost new. How bad is it to run on new tire and 3 old ones. I have heard running differant diame…

Hi All, Well is shouldn't be this hard, but it wants to be. Got up and headed for the airport at 3:30 A.M. Noticed the Truck reverse lights were on. Went back and got the keys and cycled the shifter. No difference. Got back this morning and replaced the Neutral safety switch and Reverse light switch. So reading the linkage adjustment page, I can see nothing wrong. The truck starts in Neutral and Park only. So why are the Back-up lights still on 24 / 7, with a new switch???? I metered the voltage it's a solid 12 volts. Any suggestions? Only thing that I can think of is the wires have rubbed through? Gremlins TIA M…

I was getting the abs module open relay code, so I sent the ABS module out to circiutboardmedics to have it "rebuilt"(not 100% sure what this service entailed)Anyways, before I sent the module out, I had a constantly lit brake light, as well as a working speedo.I received the module today, and thinking everything was honkeydorey, plugged it in, all was well for about 1 minute, then the gauges temporarily died, I got the check engine light and brake light(p0500, p1693 and p1694 codes when pulled with the 3xkey trick)The rest of the gauges came immediatly back, except for the speedo. The driver side wheelhub was just replaced with a new skf unit and sensor. The p/s hub and s…

I hope someone can shed some light on this issue for me. On my 99 3500 2wd last year I put all new brake hardware on the truck. Rotor/hubs, calipers, pads and this weekend had to put a new drum, wheel cylinder and shoes on one side in the rear. What happens is that just recently the truck started shaking, bouncing when applying brakes from a speed above 50 or so. Yesterday I pulled the front wheels and checked the rotor runout and the passenger side is only about .001" but the driver side is right at .007" runout on the face. Also looks like some hot spots on both rotors also. I put high end pads on the truck. Will the cheaper pads run cooler? Is tha…

The other day I was offered a 2in. leveling kit for an 04 3/4 dodge for helping my dads friend fix his truck, but I didn't know if it'd work or not. If I'm not mistaken, my 01 and the 3rd gens have the same front axle, steering, coils, and coil buckets correct? Couldn't really find anything on this topic elsewhere so like always, someone has to know here, thanks!

ahhhhhh!!!!!!! me and my dog came in to the shop to install onboard air on my dodge today and i spent the better part of the day installing air compressors in the tool box, holding tanks in and under the bed, wiring up sensors and pressure gauges. figured i would check the system out before installing quick connects on the bumpers front and rear, found and repaired a few leaks and watched the pressure build and all of a sudden i blew a fuse on one compressor, checked wiring and cooled off unit tried again and pop. this sucks then found second compressor leaking at head gasket. well i guess thats what i get for installing cut-offs from a mini truck. oh-well guess ill do a …

So I decided to take out the previous owners fog light wiring and put in new battery’s and terminals, so I snipped the fog wires and they ran to a connector that had more wires out of it with an in line fuse I traced all the wires to the terminals which I thought would be all the light wiring. But there happened to be a think white wire also. I started the truck and my programmer would get power but it said to check connections. So I put the wire on the positive. Nothing changed. So I tried the negative. Nothing. Then I fired it up and the CEL came on. I pulled the codes through the ignition switch 3 times. And got a 1693. The dealer pulled that code a couple days ago and…
