2nd Generation Dodge Non-Powertrain

I watched a few vids on YouTube, then started to take my driver's side hub off. I pulled the axle out to discover my truck doesn't match the videos I've seen online. The vids appear to have a lock ring and a dowel that keeps the somewhat large nut from turning. Mine seems to have a piece of the metal pulled up, to create two tabs, to block the hex nut from backing out. I folded the two tabs down so I could take the nut off. But I can't seem to get any tools in there to turn the nut. I don't recall the size, but with calipers I think I measured 66 mm for that nut. Any ideas?

It's cold out know, like -40ish cold. Needless to say I have very little cab heat. Coolant temp is at 190 winter front is on truck, both lines on my heater core are hot, fan is pushing lots of air out the vents, deff, or floor heat, I can change the heater control and make the heater colder. Even when my Espar is on I still do not have hot air in the cab. If my heater core was not working properly would I still be able to pass fluid through it?If I can change the heat controls from hot to cold, my blending door should be working? If I have good flow of air out my vents, deff, and floor heat my a/c and heater core should not be plugged? If my heater core is returning hot coo…

  5. I found a nice 1998 dodge ram 2500 with a 12v. The guys said---------- I have for sale a very rare 1998 dodge 2500 Cummins diesel. These trucks where only made for 4 months in 98 with the older style Mechanical 12valve engine with the good P7100 injection pump. It also came from factory with the newer 24valve interior and a a full quad Cab, with all 4 doors opening. All the 12valve trucks from 94-98 that where quad cab, had only the two front doors open and the back doors where solid non opening doors. This is also what makes the truck super rare cause is it near impossible to find a 12valve with a full 4 door quad cab. Aside from a little history on the truck here are t…

Last year I installed new Rancho shocks. I'm still bouncing. If I cross an intersection at 30mph +, the crown of the cross street will cause me to bounce up and down 4 or 5 times. If the fifth wheel RV is in tow, a concrete interstate with it's uneven seams is horrible. I don't remember which Rancho shock model I bought. They're not the adjustable model though. Suggestions?

Hi All, I changed the resistors in my HVAC system and solved the fan speed issue. I decided to change the fan/motor as well and now there is no air coming out of the dash or floor vents only out of the defrost vents by the windshield. Any ideas are welcome.

First off since my passenger light got smashed I ordered new housings(see pic) and hated the halogen bulbs they were crap. Decided to upgraded to LED Conversion (see pic). Just looked at a couple old posts saying the LED lights in the housings are super bright and are a issue for oncoming drivers. If this is true I dont mind taking a loss of the 130 bucks if I cant send these back for lights that's are safer for other drivers and still bright enough for me. Also will be replacing brakes and rotors soon what brand or brakes and rotors are everyone running. I tow alot and need good brakes. Looking for suggestions on all thanks.

I am attempting to hook up the pillar pod guage lights to my headlight switch, on the adjustable bright-dimer side. Is there a wright up on this procedure that would show which light switch leg is for the dimmer?

Had this issue before. , So just starting a new thread I have been leaving my AC knob switch on position and my AC blower had been going on all the time when I start the truck Last couple days it sometimes it doesnt go on when I turn the ignition on and drive my truck . But a few miles down the road all the sudden it will go on Sometimes the blower fan will go on in a minute or so and just a mile or so, sometimes I might drive 10-15 miles 20 minute and then the blower fan will all the sudden finally go on This happens no matter what speed the blower motor is set too. So I dont think its that resistor issue I saw …

Hello all, Hope all is well. I have the steel rims on my 98.5, but always like the nicer wheels that were on the 99 and up. I have seen the newer factory rims and tires on the trucks and they look great. I know they went to disc brakes but I have drums in the rear. I would rather have the older rims. Thanks,John

If I abused my equipment I could understand this, but I just changed antifreeze and Tstat about 8-9 months ago. Like the title says WHAT happen. I talked to Michael a little while ago and the only thing we came up with is, rust settled in the block and began its reaction after flush. Because I flush every time I change the Tsat and antifreeze. I just don't get it. I changed my 05 about 30 days later, real close to the same date, same brand of antifreeze and it looks just fine.

  15. Ok. The 4x4 works sometimes and not other times. The light rarely comes on when in 4x4. To start things off I was out driving in some snow this winter in 4x4(or at least the lever was in 4x4) and I was going up a small hill and all of a sudden the 4x4 quit working. I never heard any grinding or anything. 4x4 hi and 4x4 lo was both the same. I moved the lever from Hi to Lo several time and then It started working. So I figured the linkage was out of adjustment. So next day I adjusted it and it seemed to work although the light was not on. Couple weeks later I ran into some mud and got it stuck. Turns out the 4x4 still was not working right. After moving the lever from hi t…

  16. I gave up at 335k miles. I was notcing more cupping of the shoulders of the tires from a possible toe issue (slack in the tie rod ends). I got me the part tonight and tomorrow I'll be installing fresh steering parts under the front of the truck. Funny part is it still steers tight and straight its the cupping of the shoulders of the tires that's bugging me. 335k miles I'm sure there is a bit a slack in the tie rod ends and could be toeing in on itself creating the issue on the tires.

  17. As the title states I have a chirping squeak under acceleration never heard something like this and whats worse is it is in the cab within the dash. Also the forward dash screws keep getting loose definitely becoming an annoyance any clues as to how to keep them tight and what may cause a chirping sound in the dash?

Here's another testament as to why I hate Dorman parts. I recently replaced both Interior door latch cables in my rear doors as they both broke when I removed the panels to replace my speakers. One of them is just barely too long, you can pull the handle and hears things move but the door won't unlatch. The outside handle still works though. The other door worked for a couple weeks then stopped opening entirely. How can I get the door open to take it apart again?

  19. Ok, so I've had a bad shake/wobble on the highway for a few weeks now. I had a third gen adjustable track bar with drop bracket, Carli Coils, Bilstein 5100s, TGC tubular upper and lower control arms and some nice tie rod ends and so I had my buddy install them. You really need a pretty nice spring compressor to install these springs right because they are so much longer than the oem springs. I had the rear u-join on the driveshaft replaced as well while it was sitting. It was the only bad one. So I've tried two different pickle forks, and a small press so far. I flipped the castle nut over and hit the top of the nut with a small sledge. They aren't even budging. The small …
