I recently purchased a 98 Ram 2500 - 12 valve. The high beam indicator light was burnt out, or so I though. When I removed the bulb, I realized that the light was not burnt out, but instead one of the contacts had been bent back to prevent connection. When I replaced the bulb and reassembled the dash, the high beam indicator was stuck on. I guess I now know why the bulb was modified. Now the high beam indicator light is constantly illuminated. It doesn't matter if the pickup is running or not. On top of that, the switch is reversed. Meaning, when I switch to low beam, the high beam light comes on. When I switch to high beam, the indicator shuts off. When I shut …

I am positive beyond a doubt that I am not alone dealing with a broken up dash core frame from a wreck or break-in or the famous familiar quote I hate to hear “What Ever” , it explains everything. Something happened to cause your plastic Dash Frame Core Assembly to break. Age could be the biggest factor or a combination of age and all of the above. Hopefully somebody has done this and would share the how to results on the Forum. My 1998 12 valve Dash Frame Core Assembly is in pitiful shape. Cracked from door to door in several key places like the A/C controls that had screws or a screw in the bottom plate but the top plate was completely gone so the Bezel was holding…

  3. Greetings Guys. Back again with more fun. Just completed replacing tappet cover gasket, upgrading transmission solenoids et, al. and pan gasket replacement with help of the site. Thanks guys for all the assistance. If these three projects were not enough pain in the ***, I decided to replace the engine mount bushings and add a big line kit and a set of A Column gauges (egt, boost and fuel pressure). Yeh, I know, a real masochist. Anyway my truck (2000 flatbed, extended cab, 1 TN, 4WD with 325K miles) currently has an idiot light for fuel pressure which I originally installed a couple of years ago when I added a Raptor lift pump. I would like to keep the idiot li…

OK. I just got a brand new set of BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO 315/75R-16 tires on my 2002. I am considering a set of the Centramic Tire Balancer disks to minimize vibration and tire wear. So far, it appears that the correct Centramic Tire balancer disk is part # 300-308 and a set of spacers for the fronts for clearance of the brake caliper and balancer ring against the wheel. I am running the OEM factory aluminum Dodge wheels. Is anyone using these balancers on their truck in the same configuration as mine? If so, what is your appaisal of these balancers and what if any problems or fitment issues did you have. Thanks!

  6. I've managed to get the most out of a single device... The device is my LG G5 cell phone. I recently picked up a gooseneck cell phone holder . This turned out awesome being it will bolt right to the seat frame on the passenger side there is a bolt you can loosen and mount the gooseneck to the seat. Now with a bit of work routing wiring and hiding the wires I've got it cleaned up as much as possible. So what can I do with this setup? My Kenwood stereo has an AUX audio jack so all audio is piped into the stereo speakers. This makes hands free cell phone calls really great. On my SD memory card I store music and movies so when I'm down in Ontario, OR and nothing to do I can …

If you look close you can see how I supported the cut cross member to the bed frame and supported the bed floor. All bolting to the truck frame was from existing factory holes because I didn't want to drill any holes in the truck main chassi. One of the pics shows my shut off valves to my in line filter and AD100 so I can easily change out either one. There is another shut off valve next to the transfer case to not loose fuel prime too. Also notice my tall fuel filter has a protection plate. I remove one bolt and it swings out of the way for filter changing.

Auto parts store I've done business with for 20 years doesn't carry AC Delco anymore. Napa is the only thing worth a damn around here now. Whats your thoughts on Napa ball joints?

So been fighting this issue with air conditioner since it got warm out and even the last year it was giving me fits, basically my compressor won’t stay engaged even if I have up to three cans of refrigerant from a completely vacuumed system. I have manifold gauges hooked up when charging and can get up to between 150 to 200 psi on the high pressure side and compressor will still cycle off and come back on periodically.( it will drop about 50 psi before re engaging) Sometimes it will not re engage and start blowing warm air, I can wiggle the wires by the compressor and it will re engage for a while but eventually it will quit again. I know it sounds like bad wi…

Like the title says, does anyone else have a problem with the horn/security system activating when you use the key fob to unlock the door? Its starting to get old lol.. Usually hitting the unlock button again will stop the horn sounding.. It happens about every 10-20 cycles of the door locks and mostly after rainy humid weather..Cant find any water getting into the truck. I know the truck has the premium central timer module because it has heated seats.. Can the central timer module be reflashed or does it have to be replaced? Also im supposed to be able to unlock the door with the key; turn it in the unlock direction twice and disable the secure keyless entry.. I have tr…

I just put new rotors, calipers, pads on all 4 corners of my truck. The pedal feels hard after maybe an inch of travel. It used to feel alot smoother and soft (not mushy) is this normal? Yes I got all the air out of my brake lines. Could this be a hydroboost related?

I found a small wire loom hanging from the truck which and one time was up under the hood. I dont know what it goes to but i traced the loom back to a connector in the drivers front wheel well between the inner fender liner and the fender at the front of the door. It is the single red wire coming out of the loom. On the way home my tranny temp gauge went nutty. Should not have anything to do with the above since it is not factory. I got home shut the engine off. Restarted a couple minutes and it was working fine. Coincidence ??

I was having problems with my blend door awhile back and it turned out to be the actuator was bad. But i put a controller from junk yard because i was having problems figuring out the problem, but now the ac kicks on when u turn it to face and floor and when u turn it to defrost and floor? I thought the controller was missed up and put my old one back on and it does the same! Is this correct or do i have a problem, i have to either turn it to face or floor for ac not to kick on.

  16. After I had a stent installed in my heart Nov 8th, 2023, I lost some muscle strength in my legs, which resulted in my left knee (7 surgeries) not liking the heavy aftermarket clutch in my 01 Sport HO 6 speed. I traded it for a different diesel 4x4, but I just traded it for this 01 Ram 2500 Laramie SLT long bed 4x4 with 4-wheel disk brakes and 4-wheel ABS. It has an actual 195k miles on it from the vehicle record I paid for, which shows the same number of miles on the odometer. It definitely hits a lot harder than the other 3 Cummins 4x4 trucks I've had before. It It has the following upgrades. 1. FASS 165 lift pump 2.…

Guys,The heater core in my truck is toast, so will be changing it soon. (It will be 2 weeks from now or a bit more.... too much going on and the tractor is in the shop too....)I have studied Mike's video, but still have a couple questions.1. From the picture it looks like the steering column is dropped. Yes? (anything other than bag to watch out for?)2. I have a 5 speed. I can't tell, but it looks like Mike removed the shifter and part of the center console?3. Is there anything else I should do whilst having the dash out? I can't think of anything.(and you are right I have cheated and not looked at the FSM yet... edit noticed later that mike said the column was "la…

I noticed this yesterday. I’m not one to typically take short cuts, but wanted to see if anyone has ever tried this stuff and had any luck. https://gobdp.com/blog/fix-differential-leak/ The reason I’m considering trying it is I don’t have the time or tools to do it myself, and this being the front drivers side seal means the entire differential has to come out. It’s about a $700 job. Normally I’d use this as an opportunity to replace anything else that’s gotta come out for the job, but literally everything else is new (brake pads, calipers, wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rods ect). Less than 20,000 miles ago. So my thought is for $20 I’d try…

Well after playing around with Excel and doing some thinking. I figured out how to figure exactly how much air pressure you need in each tire. The thing is that you need to get your truck weighed on a truck scale. The calculator needs front axle and rear axle weights. Then you'll need the weight rating of your tire and maximum air pressure rating. Then you plug the information into the calculator (blue boxes) and it will figure out when your optimal tire pressure is. Since I just weighed my truck I left my figures in the boxes as samples... Information Front Axle 4,420 Rear Axle 3,040 GAWR Front Axle 5,200 Rear Axle 6,084 Tire Max T…
