My leer truck cap on my Dodge that I installed a fully welded steel ladder rack on top is stress cracking. I work construction and tree farming so the rack was over built and overloaded probably more than once. Now that you know what I did wrong I'll tell you what I want to do... I found a quart of Toyota army green leftover from jamming out the truck before sending it to paint, so I figured might as well fix the topper and finally paint it to match the truck. Last weekend I sanded most of the old paint off one side was done with 150 one side was 60(I'll explain in a moment.) Now that the paint is stripped I'm seeing pretty deep stress cracks, and the fiberglass …

I have an 02 cummins 4x4. Pulled the codes and had p1698 p1689 p0237. Replaced the vp44 and still had the codes. Cleared the codes out took the truck for a drive and hooked the scanner back to the truck and it will not read codes so I done the key trick and am getting p1694 p1693 p1687 and p0237. Truck starts up fine and drives but it has no power has the CEL ABS and BRAKE light on the dash. Got to looking under the hood and seen that the previous owner had a wire on the harness to the pcm tapped and grounded. Took that wire off and nothing changed. I don't know what to do next!

So pulled the 35's and aluminum wheels off of the truck (got a set of 2017 takeoffs with 300-400 miles), first trip on the freeway and the death wobble started. as I drive the truck daily put a track bar in it the next day. But the front end still feels sloppy, not necessarily in the steering wheel but I can feel every little bump in the floor under my clutch foot when it is resting on the floor. Overall the truck is definitely way better with proper sized tires that it was engineered for. Next, its raining again in seattle, I stop at the grocery store on my way home for my wife, every thing is fine. I get back in the truck to leave, the first time I gentl…

So I was at the local cafe this morning getting breakfast and the village police chief came in who I know pretty well. (Not in a bad way haha) He came up to me and we started talking and apparently around here they have had a rash of dodges with tow mirrors being vandalized. He said they caught a few teens who were out "moose hunting" as they called it. Which he explained to me is they go around smashing off tow mirrors for kicks. I get the whole name of the game as some dope came up with tow mirrors out looks like a moose I guess. He told me it's been happening around this county and a few others in the surrounding area. I just don't get the younger generation now days ?…

Hi, We can't predict everything, so I will ask the question ahead in preparation. If anyone has been on a long trip and suffered a breakdown, how did you get the truck back home to your shop? I'd like to hear what you did? Are there companies that rent Haulers/trucks capable of hauling a 3500? Or maybe a vehicle Transport Company? Thanks. Leaky

  6. I've managed to get the most out of a single device... The device is my LG G5 cell phone. I recently picked up a gooseneck cell phone holder . This turned out awesome being it will bolt right to the seat frame on the passenger side there is a bolt you can loosen and mount the gooseneck to the seat. Now with a bit of work routing wiring and hiding the wires I've got it cleaned up as much as possible. So what can I do with this setup? My Kenwood stereo has an AUX audio jack so all audio is piped into the stereo speakers. This makes hands free cell phone calls really great. On my SD memory card I store music and movies so when I'm down in Ontario, OR and nothing to do I can …

My seats are getting in pretty bad shape and I have kept my eyes open for something for replacement. Found these Saturday morning. https://greenville.craigslist.org/pts/d/98-01-dodge-ram-2nd-gen-truck/6281653808.html Just to good to be true. I think I could sell mine for $75 on Craigslist. Any way I called him and sure enough he had sold them. Told me he had another set but I thought he told they were sold also. 2 hours ago I get a phone call from the same guy telling me he was home and had pulled the second set out and cleaned them up and was hoping that i could get there in 30 minutes if I wanted them. Fortunately for me I have friend down his way and he went and …

My 99 3500 qc dually 4x4 looks a little tired on the front end, almost like she's sagging. What are my options here? A good set of Billsteins? In her previous life she pulled a gooseneck carrying a 60hp tractor every day. She seems awfully happy not to be dragging that thing around anymore. I sporadically pull heavy weight with her, 40 hp tractor, dump trailer, etc.

  9. So coming up on a birthday for my truck in October heading to 16 years of ownership and currently standing with 315k just about to roll up on the odometer. I'm still running the factory steering box and power steering pump. To this day the steering box is still tight and leak free. I've adjusted the over center adjustment a few times but still the steering box is working just the way it did when I bought the truck brand new in October of 2002 and it had only 43 miles on the clock when I test drove it. My truck has seen a lot of rough roads and dirt roads, off-road 4WD travels so, there is no pavement princess here. Now I have to admit the since I've never run…

It appears my booster is leaking inside the truck. Just a drip but I saw on the floor mat today. Rebuilding it does not look that difficult. What have some of you folks done for yours?

  13. I don't do much on the forums anymore, but I thought somebody might benefit from documenting what I consider a proper radio installation for a 2nd generation Ram. Honestly it will probably be almost identical for any extended cab Ram. I purposely built this using materials anybody can get from the big box stores and truck stop radio supplies. Materials List: Qty 1: 3/4 in. x 36 in. Plain Steel Square Tube with 1/16 in. Thick Qty 1: 1 in. x 36 in. Plain Steel Flat Bar with 1/8 in. Thick Qty 1: 2 in. x 36 in. I've had a front bearing go out on my way home from my summer Campground host job, new hubs ordered. My question, what is the socket size for front hub nut? Searches have shown all kinda sizes mostly for 4wd, of 1 11/16, 43mm etc. I will need to buy a socket, largest I have is 1 1/2 and it's to small.

  18. My heater blower on the 2001 got cleaned and lubed tonight and blows much better also no longer has the funny vibration sound. However, not blowing as well as my 2002 with half the miles, I'm wondering if there is a strategic spot to cut out the plenum housing for access for cleaning. I'm not well versed on parts but I believe to be able to clean the evaporative cooler? is that right? Would be great. funny... I always thought that was near the radiator The blower was a quarter full of pine needles as was the cowel under the windshield so I know there is more yet to clean. I want cut out for future access T.I.A.

So I got my A/C system recharged about a month or two ago with Freon and was getting super cold air and it was working great. Fast forward to yesterday and I was driving down to Seattle and my A/C is pretty much non-existent now. When I got it recharged, the guy mentioned that it looked like there was some dye in the system so someone at some point was looking for a leak and clearly there is, just not sure where. My A/C never worked up until I got new Freon put in it and now it seems that due to a leak somewhere, it's depleted and A/C is no longer getting cold. What should I start with?
