Since all fluid is never drained unless the trans gets rebuilt, is it okay to mix ATF +4 with ATF+3 trans fluid that stays in the VB and TC? My truck has to get ready for a 1400 miler running with, heaven forbid....... IBMobile His coffee like burnt trans fluid, but wakes up old pliestocene fossils like me.

hey guys I'm looking for the best compound set up for my truck. Its a 99 24v with 125 hp injectors, headstuds, fass 150, CAI, 4 inch exhaust, iQuad V2 tunes, and a BW 364 sxe. i am curious what would be the best size turbo to use as my big turbo while using my 364 as the small turbo. Also if anybody has recommendations on piping kits that work well with these trucks. I don't plan to do any thing else power wise for the truck after this.

Ok this is where I stand and I cant figure out where I lost some much mileage out of my truck. Where I first bought my truck in 2005 with 70k on the clock, I was getting around 20-21 mpg. Now it seem like I am lucky to get 16 or 17 with 165k on the clock. The only thing that I have done to truck is cut the muffer and soot trap out of it at first. Then about 3 or 4 months ago I put a BHAF on the truck. I havent really change my driving style other I am driving slower now and I switched from running lucas to running standadyne fuel treatment. I did replace my clutch about 3 months ago months from a single disc to a dual, also I did change my lift pump about 4 years ago to a…

First off hey all! First post and coming over from CR. Seems to be the more techy minds here. Ok my question is with tm and the smarty. Hopefully I can explain in words what's going on in my mind. Best way for me to describe smarty is it seems to shorten the pedal distance for the ECM to determine wot. My concern is with the auto trannies. Being that more power/tq is produced at less pedal movement, would the tranny not suffer from less tv pressure meaning less line pressure and lower clutch holding ability? The first years of 24v did not have tm so how did the transmissions deal with this? Is the bellcrank for the tv cable different or the lever on the tranny indexed dif…

Hey guys, so anytime I hear something on CF that I find questionable, I come here to let the people I trust set me straight lol If any of you are bored, take a look at the comments toward the end of this thread and let me know your thoughts. http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-powertrain/2095985-low-mpg-new-post.html#/forumsite/20661/topics/2095985?page=4 As I say in the thread, I though ATF was a major no go for all diesels, and the same for 2 stroke in an egr engine, but these guys claim not. What's the deal?

I've had 2 NAPA thermostats fail since the first of the year. Just wondering if anyone knows of any particular reason why they could be failing aside from poor quality in the first place and what others are using Cummins or aftermarket?

Seem to remember someone mentioning this before. Out of curiosity let's say you have 10 people pushing your truck or you could roll down the hill or you could tow it with a different vehicle, can a manual transmission Cummins be pop started, will everything work as it should, lift pump for example. Mainly talking about the vp44 truck but would like to know any info possible.

As best I can describe it, if anyone has been driving a car when the catalytic converter melts down or plugs up the engine gets generally sluggish and struggles under its own weight. Throttle works but no not really because its just bogging it further in a sense. Or how about those of us with Edge tuners who take off driving before it loads and you get that sudden burst of power when it does start working. That sudden contrast between no tune and tune. However in my case only 200 yards prior i was running the tune and it just suddenly fell on its face then as i said its a sudden burst of power when it clears up. I hope that description makes sense …

Finally got around to disassembling my old alternator. I believe this is the factory original one. Unfortunately I stripped out 2 of the 4 screw heads holding the diodes in! Any tips for stripped screws? Anyways, @Mopar1973Man The diodes you sell...do they fit in all Denso alternators found on 94-02 trucks? I have a 98.5, which from the looks of it, is the same as a 12 valve alternator. It doesn't have that plug on the back (see photo from FSM).

Had to change things up a bit when my used Hx35 showed up rusted as **** and the wastegate diagram was toast. Was going to be a 62/64/12. Everything new now. 62/67/12. Will be assembling tomorrow and hopefully installing it.

When I purchased the truck in 2017 it was named The Dragon becuase I drove it home from Kingman AZ to Los Angeles blowing a massive amount of coal all the way home. Little by little I found mostly all of the causes of the smoke. There were many of them. The truck had a Power Edge EZ which was manufactured in 07-29-2002 I suspected that it could be contributing to the smoke issue and it was. I took it out and cut the smoke down about 30% At that tie I had exactly zero knowledge of tuners. I'm now about to learn about them, particularly the recommended Quadzilla. The description of the Power Edge EZ is as follows: The …

Replaced the fan clutch over the summer and have noticed a drop in fuel milage. Saw the video of Mike stopping his fan, got me to wondering, so I went and checked mine same as Mike. Chewed the end off a 2 x 4. Question is how do you loosen one up? It is not frozen up it is just really tight causing the fan to be under load all of the time...

Coming in late June my brother and I will be driving from my home in Kuna ID to Lincoln Nebraska to get my mothers things to her. I will be using the Ram and pulling a 25' coleman camper. I will be followed by her 1994 GMC K1500 pulling a pickup bed trailer. I will be meeting my sister and her husband in there truck where they will take the camper and GMC to Watertown NY where my mother lives. The GMC is just about done, been prepping it so my mother shouldn't have to do anything but change the oil as long as she owns it. I've changed every fluid, filter, fixed all the leaks, replaced the cooling system, shocks, fuel pump and converted all the lights to LED. My tru…

Well I would like to personally thank GOS Performance for providing me with a quality product. It took me a little over 3 hours to get it all installed to my specs that I wanted. I did some changes during my install to hopefully protect the pump and filter from damages this summer when I'm out cutting firewood. The when the box showed up from the "Brown Man" I was kind of shock to see how big the box was. I didn't relize that is came with all new fuel ine, fittings, electrical, etc. Right On! Instructions are really easy to understand. Once I got the pump all hooked up I was expecting this loud pump to buzz on the frame below. I turned the key and didn't hear nothin…

Got some presents in the mail today from the good ol US Postal Service. I am going to build a hybrid hx35/40. Well.. it'll be mostly HX40 with the only 35 carryover being the turbine housing. As much as I searched, it just does not seem like there is a reasonbly priced turbo between an HX35 and a 62/68 BW variant that everyone seems to love. As cool as a BW 62mm would be, i just dont need that much turbo, i dont want the added lag, and my truck's primary function is towing my 5th wheel toybox which is around 13k loaded so i need the turbo to spool reasonably quick. I ended up buying what is basically a new, un-assembled complete hx40 …

So as some of you may know, I was looking for a new truck, well that fell through so for now, I'm sticking with the ol faithful 2wd! Anyways, I'm creeping closer to 180k and was just wondering. What should I be looking to upgrade/replace/service all those sorts of things. My sig is up to date with what I have currently. I'd like to upgrade to a fuel boss just for peace of mind but other then that, what should I be looking to do to maintain reliability? Thanks in advance!
