My 2002 HO cummins had a catch can off the oil breather on the front of the engine. I was sick of forgetting to empty it, then dripping all over my driveway, or spilling when changing. I just extending the hose down past my axle. It coated everything down stream of it with crud, but it seemed to work (only dripped a little). Last summer I nearly overheated when towing and I'm blaming the problem on oil vapor getting sucked into the radiator (I read this happens with the stock setup). Quick question I made my mod and am curious why is it that every time a change my oil theres alot of gases or at least thats what I think I can smell the hot amsoil oil and see the vapors coming form the bottom of the truck when am at light. So is it normal ?

Hey guys I'm back! Crazy year, didn't have much money here lately but started a new job and I'm back! Anyways, I received the Quadzilla for my 01 a year ago for my birthday and I was super excited because for once I'll have custom tunes and I will be able to get out of the <15mpg that I had been getting with my Smarty S03.... Boy was I wrong..... Year later, mileage still sucks. NEVER got above 15mpg, no matter if I ran a tune of my own, or one of Mike's, Me's, nor Drips tunes. I'm at a loss from where to go from here. With my S03 I got 18mpg ONE TIME so I know its possible, but I've never been able to break that mid 15mpg mark. All I have done motor wise is 100hp DAP…

So not sure exactly what's going on right now, but I don't think it's a bad thing. I filled up my last tank and up until yesterday I thought my fuel gauge was stuck! It FINALLY dropped off the full peg and is starting to get under the first tic mark. I'm currently sitting at over 100 miles on my trip counter. The only thing that's changed from this fill up from previous is I set the smarty to fuel mode. Does it really cause this big of a jump in MPGs?

I am wondering if going up on pump stretch 2K ish and Can Bus % will create that low end response. I guess I can also make wire tap minimum add greater too? If I actually download load a Smarty tune will the truck act poorly even with the Adrenaline on level 0? Thanks

I bought new injectors and my engine serial number is less than the number websites say. Do I need new crossover tubes or am should I buy new ones cheapest I found was like 23 dollars each o rings iincluded.would it be cheaper at a cummins dealer?

I originally was going to start this thread asking for help, but I seem to have fixed the issues inadvertently. Here is the issues. My cruise control had been acting up of late. At first the cruise would act like it was backing off and then re accelerating. Very much like lightly lifting the throttle and easing it back on. Seemed to be doing it after about an hour of it being turned on. As time passed it got much worse and was actually cutting out in in harshly. So much so I just shut it off. Then out of the blue it would work just fine. The throttle itself worked fine thru all of this. Also during this time the idle up feature when releasing the clutch seemed to not …

Well I took my truck for a ride today. First ride since my new vp44.Total trip was 50 miles round trip. The truck is really running good now, like when I first bought it.Crusing at 56 mph, and 1500 rpms. Indicator shows 22 mpg. Nice to sit and listen to the turbo hum as i cruise along. Everything is so quiet now with the two cycle oil in the tank.Timing must really be working great because I don't even hear any rattling diesel sounds, everything is scary because it is so quiet now.I never realized how bad the engine was until it was repaired.Thats my post for now!

Cummins Can bus messages I need some help decoding these messages. I’m not sure about the timing command it requests 25*BTDC at idle as soon as it is started when cold then comes down after a long warm up to about 15*. That seems very high. Im having issues with dead pedal. Dont know where to start?!? Its been getter worse. Was happening about once or so every few months....would forget about it, then it would happen again. An today it happened 4-5xs home from work(about 35kms). If i push in clutch an pump pedal a few times itl will come back....then randomly cut out again while just cruising( barely on the pedal). Wondering if this HOT summer weather has somthing to do with it?? Any direction would help thnx!

Bought new in 1998, been tweaking ever since. Engine rebuilt for it's 20th birthday in November 2019. Dyno runs with a Smarty/TST stack June 2020, with 596hp/1150tq. Been lurking and have multiple pages of notes from this site and others, have done several tunes. I'm an ex-sportscar racer and we would do practice runs the 1st day, email every run to our Motec guy, and would re-load before every session to dial in the cars. I am installing a fuel filter behind the Raptor pump. I'll be adding isolation valves so that the filter can be serviced with minimal loss of fuel. Will I need to bleed any air out of the system at the engine if I'm working behind the pump?

My first turbo diesel a 01 3500 w some modes to pull better. A Smarty programmer, S362 turbo, stk head bolts, stk injectors, 5' straight pipe exhaust axle dump, 3 piece exspantion joint exhaust manifold, BD exhaust brake. My questions are, when applying the exhaust brake exh. pressure will increase from flow restrictions causing heat to build up raising pressure even more, can the clamping force of stk exh. hardware or head bolts fail or stretch an loosen causing gaskets to move an leak? If possible can these press. be monitored and managed?

I put a used d80 in my cummins a month or so ago and I just filled the fluid everything turned ok so I said whatever well pulling a trailer back 300 miles yesterday I lost the abs speed sensor no mph abs brake light on blah sp I go get another sensor thinking that was shot pulled it out and half of it was missing well long story short everything meshes and is quiet so I'm going to run it just weird

Hey guys first post here so hoping this thread is in the right spot. I swapped a 2000 24v and 47re into my 06 f250 over the winter, rebuilt the engine and recently the trans. I put pdd 6x.014 sac injectors in it with .093 injector tubes. So pump. Sxe 364.5/73/83 turbo on it. I have the quadzilla adrenaline v2 on it. I’m having a hard time building a daily tune that has decent power and doesn’t smoke a bunch or have high egts. Do you guys think it’s my injector/turbo setup or my tuning? Any help is appreciated
