Hi guys I’m new here so not very good at navigating yet but I’ll get the hang of it! So basically I’m starting this topic becuase I’m looking for a for some input and opinions. So about 8 months ago I bought an 01 24v auto I am the second owner and previous was in his 80s and took very good care of the truck but it’s come time that I’d like to start making modifications. I’ve done a fair bit of research and have some ideas and some knowledge on what I drive but more opinions are always great. As of right now my truck is bone stock minus a 4” exhaust. I’d like to build something in the neighborhood of 350-400hp. I already have a fuel pressure gauge and have pyro, boost and…

I have a complete 5.9V8 3500 4x4 sat getting rougher by the day, is there any information on here about fitting the rear axle and springs to my 2500 4x4, same year just 2500 is diesel.... 3500 is petrol would the springs be too stiff ? 3500 has snowplough option from the factory, I'm assuming this is front springs but is the front springs on the diesel stiffer ?? Is it easy to use both axles ? does the dually bit unbolt IE the extensions on the front and the wider deal on the back ? will the bigger rear brakes be too much for a 2500 I'm thinking about parting the 3500 so would keep all sheet metal except maybe the bed so would keep m…

so the 3rd brake light seal finally gave up and shrunk to the point it was allowing water in. so time to replace got the neoprene gasket on ebay, good price. it fits perfect and as you can see its really thick (the old one was flat and dlush with the plastic housing)

This has been a lot harder than expected to get all the correct components. If I write a detailed account, better as a post or article? It will save a lot of figuring and running around. Lug nuts being the hard part. I'd need to know how to write an article.

  5. I plan to drop the pan on my transmission in the next few weeks for filter change and band adjustment. Are there any upgrades that I should install while in there? No $600 valve bodies! I have planned on adding the Sonnax valve to the valve body that allows flow to the converter while in Park. Stock truck.

So I bought a core 47re a month or so ago. A buddy came by as we tore down the trans from my green truck. Figured might as well get started on the core trans. Well here is what we found so far LOL. Plan as of now for the trans is to go in the 12v once done. Will get a dpc reman triple. Already have the full rebuild kit, billet input, tcs servo & lever kit, and goerends vb. I will be making my own laminated flex plate. This trans came out of a v10 truck.

  7. I found my recent 2000 2500 truck aquisition very annoying constantly going in and out of lockup in the city or in hilly terrain so I installed a switch on the dash to disable the lockup solenoid. The extra lock-up sequence in 3rd gear was even more annoying as the 97 does not do this. This is not the "mystery switch" that forces a lockup and in fact is the opposite. The mystery switch is vey hard on the soft parts in the tranny when changing gears locked.I had done this in my 97 2500 and all I had to do was put a simple switch in to open the circuit to the solenoid. Last week I tried the same thing in the 2000 but it immediately went into 3rd gear limp mode. New software…

  8. Just bought a 2001 2500 24v auto with 103,000. Everything was fine until one day my lock up was going in and out rapidly in drive and overdrive. Looked up a similar symptoms on the internet and a lot of people suggest moving a passenger side ground wire out from the wire loom that runs above the alternator and under the bracket. I moved the wire and reset my apps with the pedal procedure. I've only put 200 miles on so far but everything is back to BETTER than normal. Just curious if there's any other common problems associated with the haywire of the locking and unlocking of the torque convertor.

my 59 Cummins diesel 2002 has developed a hiccup, sometimes on acceleration sometimes just driving down the road she'll sputter check grounds change the fuel filter still doing it.I also have noticed that periodically my check gauges light will come on and my alternator output battery drops down to zero.I cleaned all battery connections with a wire brush hook them back up it still did it and if I just turn the truck off and start it back up it will come on ,mystery ,any ideas

I’m curious if my stock clutch will hold a set of DAP 7x0.008 50 hp vco injectors and a 65 hp tuner?

I reacently found out my 99 cummins has a 53 block. It has 260k miles has an edge ez I believe. Bhaf, banks intake horn. Pusher hot side tube. Other than that it's stocks. My question is do you keep it or get rid of it. The truck runs great. Looking around on the block I didn't see any cracks or signs. I mean there was some oil from my vacuum pump and before I did the blow by mod but nothing that caught my eyes. I've read that if it doesn't crack by 100k your good. I've also read that wrong cold start and pulling heavy loads cracks it out. Talked to the guy who owned it before me he said he's never pulled light with it cattle, bales all gooseneck pulls. I've put a lot of …

I acquired a turbo from my buddy in a trade. The tag reads: P/N: 174430, MOD: S300G 071, S/N: F2205 1296. Looks to be a 57/65/14 Super B. It's in good shape, normal side play, no in/out play. After I get a built trans I planned on running an SXE 362 62/68/14 with 7x.012s. To save money would I be ok to run the 7x.012s with the 57/65/14 turbo? I eventually would get the 62/68 but just run the 57/65 in the meantime. And yes I do have a Quad with V2, just not installed yet.

hey guys and gals, im sure this topic has been beaten to death on here but i have been debating on this 5th gear nut fix for some time that fithgearrepair.com offers. I have right around 286,xxx on my nv4500 and i installed a new clutch at 160,xxx only cause the release bearing was shot, my fault really, i catch myself rollin down the road with my foot resting on the clutch pedal . With that said, i pull my 21ft nash bumper pull all over the western states and rarely pull in 5th unless i'm on a nice straight stretch going across nevada. There are a lot of claims that if your retaining nut hasn't slipped off yet, it will. ultimatly loosing 5th gear. Would it be wise as a …

So I was fortunate enough to be given a set of Bully Dog 100hp injectors by a fine fellow a few weeks ago. He did a turbo swap and the mechanic convinced him he needed to get new injectors. He replaced them and has since sold the truck, still retaining the old injectors and a factory set also, so he donated them to me. Knowing Bully dog has been out of the production biz of injectors for a while I promptly made a call to DAP. I spoke with Dallas to which he provided me some great information and service. I sent them to DAP (arrived on Friday) to be tested and verified. They are a traditional Bosch body which appears to be in good shape so DAP is going to test and…

  16. I keep hearing how this turbo may be laggy . Yanking equipment trailer at 18k it builds at the same rate I push the pedal. I have smarty on 9 tm3 timing 4 duration 3. I am slightly worried about timing on 4 but it doesn't seem to be problem. I actually used to change timing to stock when I towed but decided to run it. Smoke isnt horrible much better than timing at stock. Just thought I'd share incase otheres on the fence . Turbo has been one my best mods. It flat just works I could do without the smarty and be happy Cool egts and getting decent fuel mileage Now I need …

First time poster, long time reader. The knowledge on this forum is amazing and can’t thank everyone enough for it so thanks in advance. I know this has been beat to death, but I couldn’t find my exact answers and don’t want to do this twice. The truck is used to pull a 24’ gooseneck full of cattle a few times a year through some short but steep rolling hills. Other than that it gets driven on the weekends. I want to get close to the 500hp mark without having to stare at my pyro. I was told a 62/65/14 and some 100’s would do the trick, but ive never ran a bigger turbo and worry about lag towing. I’ve seen Carl’s compound kits and wonder if an Hx35/s472 or someth…
