I had a thread on this subject at one time but it is so old now is been archived and it won't let me resurrect it. At the time i had some issues with the truck but they should be fixed now. I also had replaced my batteries as they were still giving me problems. It may be because of the issues i had. So i have new batteries, but it seems like they are still getting drained. I'm thinking the recent cold sub Zero weather has something to do with it. I was going to purchase a minder, tender but didn't know which one to get. Amperage wise i mean... i can get the Jr tender but it's .75a. So is that enough to maintain a float in two large b…

Well gang... Got home last night from my Boise trip and was getting MoparMom across the ice and I could hear water running. My ear homed in on it as I walked up the front porch to the main house. After getting MoparMom in the house I went back down to the guest house to find the water leaking back into the house again. (All kinds of nasty words inserted here) So this morning I called a friend up and been moving furniture from the guest house to the main house garage and getting the carpet lifted somewhat to get it to start drying out. Fans going and heat on. Rather frustrating to have new carpet less than a year old and now been soaked twice in the same year. …

This situation going on involving Oroville Dam is not a joking matter. I feel for all those poor people that live below the dam and those who have been forced out of their homes for the emergency evacuations. I have been to the dam during my travels to great fishing lakes in the area and can say it is quite a large body of water. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oroville_Dam http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/12/us/california-oroville-dam-failure/index.html

I’ve learned to have some paper towels handy anytime I’m working under the hood. I’m in process of re-installing my Airdog fuel pump, going thru lots of diesel soaked paper towels. After wiping up some diesel I toss them in pick up bed. Instead of making a trip to trash can every time. I have a squirrel that doesn't touch regular paper towels and only carts away the ones with diesel on them. He climbs up a tree where his nest is and then comes down the tree empty. He must be insulating his nest to get that fine aroma of diesel. I have no idea why, just think it is sort of odd?

Plowing with the 4 Wheeler was manageable last year, but less than ideal. I could typically plow the drive out in about an hour or so, depending on conditions. But I'm a consumer of DR power equipment and gave grown fond to them. They're offering a plow you can use on a vehicle called the redi plow. I like the concept of it and is priced well. I doubt i would consider it in a commercial application, but i think it would serve me well with what im demanding. It's a lightweight plow and can be quickly disconnected from the vehicle when necessary. It's a floating blade design. Last year, because i live off the county road on private, its not maintai…

Hey Gang. I'm thinking of producing shirts for the store. Basically looking at doing the site name and a vector picture on the front. I'm wondering how many people would be interested in buying shirts? I want to look into doing hoodies and possibly a long sleeved shirt as well. First I need to know if this is a good idea or not? I'm not going to invest a bunch of effort for small amount of sales. Feedback welcomed...

Your all are wondering what I got for a birthday present? MoparMom suggested I pick up a drone. Yeah, I said a drone... It came today and got to fly it twice now. rather fun to fly and feature rich. I got a udiRC FPV drone. Really quite sturdy drone. Flying time is about 6-8 minutes per battery charge. It charges off a normal USB port so I can even charge the batteries in the truck. It can with a portable charging pack too. The camera function works on your cell phone over WiFi. https://www.amazon.com/U818A-WiFi-Quadcopter-Drone-Camera/dp/B00SH3MU0U As for flying this little craft it not really hard but it does when you get some distance away from…

Hey guys does anyone on here have any experience with the VW TDI vehicles? I'm looking at getting a 2010+ TDI so I can drive between school and the business my brother and I bought, and I really like the TDI mileage potential. Aside from the emissions "scandal" (which is rather impressive ) are any of you aware of issues associated with these years? I'm also looking at getting a DSG automatic if that means anything. (BTW if you don't know what the DSG is you should look it up!) Thanks!

Some of you have been keeping up with the "Prayers Please" thread here and know what's been happening with MoparMom and myself. I've now got it down to science on how to handle her medical needs now and the fact I'll be doing long haul trucking for some time. I've got according to Google Maps a 164 mile one way (or 328 miles round trip) travel every other day. I will admit the mileage is close but the time is way off I'm closer to 3.5 hours one way. Basically in a nutshell I've got 12 hours travel or roughly 4,000 miles a month. I'm looking at the long travel a different way now. We've got local truckers that do this day in and out hauling lumber from the mil…

Week before Thanksgiving my brother in law was going to work at 3:30 in morning. He gets rear ended by a drunk. Last week insurance company totals it. 1997 Ford ¾ ton with 165,000 miles on a 7.3 Excellent shape except one small dent. Received a check for $9,470. Now he is trying to replace what he had. Nothing he has looked even comes close. He is thinking he has to come up in model years, around 2010 or so. Which means spending a lot more money than what insurance company gave him. One would think that some type of separate insurance would be available to cover older vehicles. Some type of policy to make up difference when you have to upgrade thru …

We officially set an all time record for snowfall for this time of the season "Not all time seasonal snowfall...YET" Spent 15 hours on my Kubota clearing my yard over the last 3 days time " what a great way to spend a 3 day holioday weekend" including the 10 inches we got over the last day and a half. CSM calls this area Hoth and i think he has it nailed down pretty good. I am so sick of this snow already as is everyone else around here. A normal seasonal total for snow is around 48 inches we beat that in a single month......................and we have 4+ months of snow season to go yet. This pretty much sums up everyones feelings here …

Passed my Oregon state real estate exams today. Going to be selling real estate here soon. Should be licensed by the end of the month. After 30 years of landscaping, my body is toast. I'm not 65 yet and need to be working to afford health insurance. So a new phase of life for me.

To cold at least for me. I have no idea how some of you turn bolts when so cold. Right now my temp is 29 degrees. Some of you might think 29 is a heat wave compared to your temps. In the mean time, till it warms up….After reading lots on this site, seems to me after the (2nd gen) fuel system that the electric system is talked about a lot. But I know very little about vehicle electronics. We couldn't snowbird this year because of medical reasons. At least I could keep warm inside by the learning something. Just trying to keep my mind active and maybe learn something new. Any recommendations for free online vehicle electronics? Thanks
